  1. LOL. Sure, blame me for everything Can't go wrong with a Stradic 1000! WOOT!
  2. Welcome aboard, Jeff!
  3. Got a 2500 FJ, but the FK I have is a 1000 I gifted the 2500 to one of my sons for his saltwater rod. I just found it to big for my liking. I prefer 1000 Stradics for all my bass fishing needs (have 2 FIs, 1 FJ and 1 FK). So take it FWIW. The FK is a great reel. I'd personally go with a 1000.
  4. Crusty, do yourself a favor and use the search function on the site. These have been discussed *a lot* here. They are my go-to baits after the Senko, and yes, worth the $$ for the pack.

    Welcome aboard!
  6. Welcome aboard, Jason!
  7. Welcome aboard, Kate! Was in a fishing break of life when I lived in TX. Grad'd UNT back in '92. Never fished Lewisville, Grapevine, or the other big lakes down there, sadly. For your next fishing trick, enjoy the wacky rig and drop shot rigs. If you can get out on a dock, or near downed trees, etc., these rigs are killer.
  8. You want the best? Here ya go: http://paddlelogic.com/trailtreker-kayak-carts.html I based my DIY yak on his design, but I'd buy this in a NY minute if I had the $. Much better built, floats, goes where you want it.
  9. Welcome aboard, Michael! Some good advice above to get you reading and started on the water. Good luck!
  10. Welcome aboard! Daiwa, Shimano. Shimano, Daiwa. You may proceed...
  11. Welcome aboard!
  12. Sweet bass, Mike! Nicely done!!
  13. What's new...LOL.
  14. I personally would not...anymore. I've eaten fish from a local reservoir, but am just not into it enough to do it again. We're just not a fish eating family, I guess. Local pond off a soccer field here always has a gas-like shimmy to it during summer due to field care chemicals. Who knows what flows in to local reservoirs!
  15. Welcome aboard, Ty!
  16. Coming to Virginia this weekend!! WOO HOO If the track goes a little more north, we get a lovely 13-14". As it is currently, 6-8" thru Sunday.
  17. Welcome aboard!
  18. Landis, the answer will depend on who you ask... Personally, I was able to score a carbon paddle for $120 from the dealer I bought my kayak from. It was worth the price. Much much better than the fiberglass paddle and aluminum one I started with. Not really sure it is worth it to spend more...but that's me. I'm also motoring now with my yak. So up to you, but this is my 2 cents worth.
  19. From the looks of the picture with @A-Jay's younger self, it looks like it's a break away rig or something. You move the drone to where fish are, once the bait is taken, you set hook, rinse and repeat. At least that's how I interpret what I see in the pic.
  20. Wow, 2 new members in one post! Welcome aboard to you both!
  21. Welcome aboard! A bobber stop will help you out there, methinks. @A-Jay is right there, and with his other suggestions. Snells are excellent knots, and I will use them on hooks with long shanks, and even short shanks like an EWG, or other worm hook. Some hooks I've found (Daiichi) do not snell well at all due to the eye not being fully shut or welded shut like other brands. Gamakatsu hooks are great for this. I'll refine my comment to say that I don't snell much anymore and just use a palomar or clinch knot because life is easier that way. If I'm flipping and pitching, it's almost always palomar or clinch these days. I stand by that the snell is a good knot, just not for all applications.
  22. I would too, if I lived where that waters were clear (like FL)!
