  1. Yellow is my fav for this very issue. 10 and 15# tests. It makes a substantial difference in visibility for me.
  2. Welcome aboard! 1000 is my preferred bass fishing reel size I'd drop to a 500 for UL...
  3. Welcome aboard! Yup, wired backwards most likely (on the battery).
  4. Welcome aboard, Mark! Salute!
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. Based solely on the reviews I've read, it is a great reel. Very light, good drag, and so forth. Have not put my hands on one yet. I'm a Stradic guy, but with big respect for Daiwa reels.
  7. Favorite country artist??!! Dude. None... Sorry ...ducks and runs for cover...
  8. I think that's a good buy.
  9. In that case, might I suggest a MF or MXF rod. Wacky, Ned, TX, other "finesse" are my go-to and I love a MF and MXF rod. On a side note, I've become a major fan of St. Croix MLF and MLXF rods, as well. They tend to fall somewhere between ML and M in terms of stiffness.
  10. Never used one, but just looked at them. Moderate action. Does he fish treble-hook lures mostly? I'd look at St. Croix Triumph, Bass Pro Pro Qualifier, in that range, as well.
  11. Welcome aboard, Tim!
  12. Welcome aboard, Zach! Best place to learn is bassresource!
  13. Welcome aboard, Goose!
  14. Welcome aboard, Mike!
  15. Congrats!! Olympics, here he comes!!!
  16. Welcome aboard!
  17. Not from Cali, so can't help there, but welcome to the forums!!
  18. I'll be getting it done...closing on 50 in 2019.
  19. I know what you mean, Jim. Some of us are diligent note takers, journal-keepers, and so forth. Sometimes I wish I was one of those, but I'm not. Probably why I never went in to the sciences - even though I enjoy reading and absorbing much of their stuff... So my gut usually leads me on a given day. Known places that produce, etc. Like @A-Jay said, they both may be one and the same.... At least I like to think of it that way, LOL. I fish with science, I just don't know it!
  20. Very cool catches!
  21. Welcome aboard! Just because a knot loses in Knot Wars does NOT mean it is a bad knot, or unworthy of your time. I have no problem with the uni-to-uni and Alberto. Period. You MUST balance your knot with your setup - drag esp. Of course things can go bad if your drag is locked down and you score a lunker. Think of the knot as part of the whole, not THE end all, be all.
  22. Welcome aboard, John!
  23. I use a leader for everything, regardless of technique. Just my preference. For me I look at it as saving my braided mainline from frequent retying. Uni-to-Uni my first choice, second is Alberto (Mod'd Albright). Both are excellent. Just make sure you set your drag accordingly. I.e., light leader, don't lock down the drag.
