I'll be around the Christiansburg/Blacksburg area next week, and was curious to see what the smallmouth are curently taking? I will be mainly fly fishing, but will also carry my spinning rod. I heard ~3.5inch Gulp minnows work like a charm, and would love some suggestions. Also, any good honey holes and flies that folks would like to reveal, I will take those too! I was thinking about going up tomorrow as well for the weigh in. Where is the weigh in, and what all goes down at one of these shin-digs? Do they have vendors and plenty of things to do?

Are you fishing the VT Club Tournament? I saw that on the bass fishing team's website. I emailed the president of y'alls club about a week ago wanting some more information on how to get involved, but have yet to get a response, so if you have any information it would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much about Claytor, mostly fish for trout in Blacksburg this time of year. Have fun at the tourney and best of luck. I'll be in Martinsville.

I'm looking to finally put the kayak in the water next weekend. How should I go about finding prespawn bass in Briery? I'm not very familiar with the lake, and was hoping to make the best out of my trip. Thanks!

Anyone ever fish the Cherokee Flats on Big Stoney in Giles County? I went down their Saturday, but no luck. They have it set up real nice down there.

Hey NOVA Angler, what streams did you trout fish when you were at Tech? I'm a student and usually head to Craig creek, and throw little Mepp's right where the paved road goes to a dirt road (~8 miles past the Skeet shooting range, if you know where I'm talking about.) Also, did you ever fish Pandapas pond or Poverty Creek? If so where did you go, and did you have any luck? I've never fished Pandapas, but would love too. Do you know if there are any bass or Crappie in that pond? Thanks a ton!

I'm bumping this thread. I'll be heading to Briery after the first of the year. Yall send me any tips/hints yall have for catching big bass this time of year. Also, does anyone know where I can find a good map of Briery? Thanks in advance. I'm not sure what I'm more excited for - the fishing, or the Sundrop I'll get at Worshams. Yall take it easy.

Seeing this thread prompted me to finally sign in and create a user name. I'm a Junior at Virginia Tech, and while I do not personally know any of the guys on the team, I know they all work very hard and earned their way to the top a few years back. If I could only go back a few years, I might have given this a shot. Heaven forbid me say this on here, but I might be more interested in a collegiate crappie fishing team! If anyone gets on here from VT, shoot me a PM and keep me updated with what yall are doing. Tight lines.
