  1. i dont believe that shimano is made by silstar.
  2. i heard that sil-star and pinnacle make a lot of tackle, including Abu Garcia. Does anybody know if that is true? :-?
  3. So you all think ardent are good quality, just a little bulky and ugly? Ps thanks for all the replies!
  4. cool. cause i was psyched to find a pitchin reel made in USA, buthen everyone was like "they suck". but now im happy
  5. well... what norcalfishguru said ... i aint in a beauty contest on the water. bulky and heavy dont mean much to me. im not a "spoiled bass guy" ;D who finds 10 oz heavy... i find that light ;D. im pretty much used to that after fishing saltwater my whole life, and it honestly doesn't bug me to fish a 10 oz reel all day, because thats just what im used to. i also dont think the limited selection personnaly applies to me, because im not left handed or anything, i just need a reel for flippin. He says that they are super solid, but overpriced. id rather have a reel that holds up "forever" that one that is smooth as silk but brakes after a year (heard alot of that). im not a tournament fisherman, and dont need the best gear. so if i sacrifice a little comfort to support America, all for it. (this was not a bash on norcal, if it sounded like it) thanks for all the feedback!
  6. ok. i was just thinking that some reels may be particularly suited to flippin. thanks!
  7. I am pretty new to bass fishing. What are your guys' top choices (under 200$, okay maybe a little over) for flippin and pitchin? I had been looking at Ardent, but everyone says theyre crap, so now im not!
  8. made in America by illegal labourers, i guess. :'(
  9. seems general consensus is overpriced crap?
  10. I read that review but it kind of contradicted itself (the reel is rough but super smooth?). I wasn't really sure what to take from the review. It was probably just my understanding of it, however. I am pretty sure that in that review he said that overall it was a good reel. But again, I probably misunderstood. Im was not really getting what he was trying to say.
  11. im not too conserned about the size, because I am used to big reels, not to say it is a mute point to me. Im just very excited to find a reel made in the USA!
  12. What does everyone think of Ardent reels?
  13. To any Maryland fisherman - Whats your favorite place to fish? Favorite teqniques?
  14. Also, the visibilty is about a foot
  15. I've been fishing alot since as far back as I can remember. And I mean seriously fishing, whenever I can, and that is often (my father is the captain of a charter boat), I go. But, I have always fished saltwater. I also have fished pretty extensively for big gills and crappies, with great success. Now I want something with a little more technique that I can easily access, because I don't have my own ocean going boat. So I figured bass fishing sounds fun and challenging, which is what i want. So ive tried to read up about it alot, but most magazines are about clear lakes, while I fish the most tanic river I know of. I just cant find information on fishing tanic, flowing water. Maybe im not looking in the right places. Does anybody have any information on fishing tanic rivers? Any tips or techniques htat you have found to work? I'm pretty familiar with most any gear you can think of, cause like I said, ive been injected with fishing knowledge since day one, but just not bass. I guess im in a weird possistion - new to bass but not new to fishing. any suggestions are greatly apprecited, and I am already finding this site helpful with some few articles ive read.
