  1. This post was under the rods, reels, line etc. section, so for that category it's nanotechnology. For everything else side imaging is the clear winner. The system was used to find the Titanic and now it's on bass boats. Amazing.

  3. Lamiglas Excel 703S at a hundred bucks is hard to beat. Love mine.
  4. I'm all over it. Sounds like kick if the limit is reasonable. I have to work the 24th and Christmas so what the heck.
  5. Okay, we are good. If I loose one a year I'm set until i'm 70. Better yet, I got a smokin' price. Thank heaven they aren't Lucky Craft baits.
  6. Storm Hide has worked great for me and we get just a sprinkle or two in my state.
  7. The word is the Revo S will be dropped from the line and the Orra will be the reel to fill that value price niche. Maybe some discounts are in the future ?
  8. Definitely, but for sea bass and ling cod with a 1/2 oz weight around kelp beds. Deadly.
  9. My boat policy provides limited coverage. My home owners also has base coverage so, I too added a special clause to cover my gear. I had to provide an inventory that included when the item was purchased or acquired and what my cost was. I keep a running inventory on a WORD document for that very reason. Anything over 250.00 required a serial number. That's hard when reels and rods are not serialized. I feel I'm covered now.
  10. I'm in the minority and voted short but here is why. I fish alot of flipping and pitching techniques and longer handles get caught up in my jackets or rain coat and don't find longer handles of any major advantage for me except my cranking rod which I cast with a two hand technique. If I fished in a tee shirt all the time it might not be a big deal.
  11. If you have purchased or are thinking of purchasing a rod, what grip system do you or would you choose? Some opinions may change from cast to spinning or lighter to heavier applications. I'm curious so please comment. Thanks !
  12. I'm still using the last of my Izorline. I have both Platinum and the co-polymer. The line is exceptionally strong, has good knot strength and is as abrasion resistant as any line I have ever fished with. It is not supple and will get some memory. The co-polymer is much softer and controllable. I got 800 yrd spools on ebay via a buddy for cheap and I mean real cheap. You might really like it. It handles like Maxima if that helps.
  13. Some day when I grow up, I want to catch smallmouth like you Dwight. Those are some seriously nice brown fish ! I finally broke the five pound barrier this fall.
  14. You got that right. They beat Washington by 40 today. I admit I'm a Duck fan and was raised in Eugene......but I have watched Iowa and was impressed.
  15. Ouch !! I picked up one of those Bill Dance lure retrievers for ten bucks and it paid for itself in one trip. I think I found it a Dicks Sporting goods. I was paranoid because my favorite color pattern was dropped by the manufacture so I found 13 available through a whole saler in the size I fish the most and bought almost all of them. I guess I'm not the only one with this issue.
  16. You have limited yourself by leaning toward a full handled or full gripped rod. Manufactures are moving toward split grips. Get on Tackle Warehouse's site and look at everything with a full grip and try to narrow it down from there. The BEST values in your price range will most likely have a split grip. Good shopping.
  17. My local paper has a weekly outdoors section and this A. P. story was a feature. Even though " the EPA said the petition did not demonstrate that a ban on lead in fishing tackle was necessary to protect against unreasonable risk of injury to health or environment, as required by the Toxic Substances Control Act" does not mean this issue will go away. The EPA recognizes limited restrictions already in place on federal lands and by the states. We as anglers need to take this issue seriously. Environmentalists will not stop to limit sporting activities on any and all bodies of water and that includes fishing. As bass anglers, I hope we set the example as leaders in responsible, caring, comprehensive use of all waters. Have a safe and happy holiday season all.
  18. Cliff...you weener. It was 78 here in SW Washington yesterday for new record high and I have to work all week and week end and then it's back to the low 50's and rain. :'(

  21. How many back ups do you have for your confidence crankbait ?
  22. Many many years ago I had to give up motocross. I was invited to a bass club meeting from a guy who has become a valued friend and fished a club event out of the back with a baitcaster combo that weighed about three pounds and my arsenal of of two black Bomber Bushwacker spinner baits. I didn't know what a jig was. At the end of the day I was cold, wet, tired , my wrist ached like heck and I caught one 12 1/4 inch fish. Iv'e never looked back or thought about stopping. It only gets BETTER.
  23. These are great DS weights but if it's snaggy like on the Columbia my go to is crimped on pencil lead. Must use a swivel though.
  24. Speed Trap for tight wiggle and Bomber Balsa for wide wobble. I am looking forward to the new Xcaliber and SK square bills though. Could be interesting.
