  1. When I was in college, my track team was on an away meet and stopped at a little old, very old filling station on a coast road. The inside of the mens room was nasteeeeee. Some one had posted a sign on the wall. "Please tick on your hands after washing. The water here is filthy." But you have a valid point.
  2. Beeeee-uuuu-teeee-ful !!!! That's a mega sweety there for sure. Proud Papa on the forum.
  3. I timed a show that will remain annonymous the other day for content. The 30 minute show had 9 minutes af actual substance related to fishing. This is common for the series. I love my DVR. Fast forward through the fluff.
  4. Thanks Chris. You made me clean my glasses.
  5. The worst time to use braid? With the exception of drop shotting, any time you have to ad a leader. And the drop shot deal's jury is still out for me. I plan to give it a fair chance, at least a full season before the braid spool goes back in the box and the flouro goes full time. Just to clarify a point, I rig my drop shot with a very small black barrel swivel, to reduce line twist, so the braid to leader Alberto knot is not employed. To chide in on the topwatwer/braid issue........my Super Spook rod has braid. I fish it in clear water and moving water with very long casts and need it to float and avoid stretch. There are some draw backs but those advantages outweigh them. The Spook and Lunker Punker are the only non-frog topwater baits that get braid.
  6. Tatula and Tatula R. $149 and $199 retail if what I heard is accurate. The R should be sub 7 ounce ? Should be interesting. Lots of YouTube on these reels including designer's comments.
  7. Hollow body swimbait with a heavy keel weighted hook or 1/2 ounce jig head.
  8. My first trip at Clear Lake, I lost $54.00 in swimbaits in the first 40 minutes and was not happy. Then I figured out why, made an adustment and wacked em'.
  9. I was just waiting. That was my first DX series model. When I read what you want a rod to do, that was popped up in my mind. Where you at Motodmast ? I'm in Longview. Doug
  10. Really slick. The maroon accents look like Road Warrior's tatoo.
  11. Take your skin seriously. My wife has had three cancers removed and we were afraid she might even loose an eye. I have two cancers to be removed in a couple of weeks, one on my ear and one on my back. A 60 SPF is decent during low light periods but when the sun gets high it's SPF shirt, gloves, buff and a booney hat for me. And that's from a guy who lives in the Pacific NW where the sun comes out three times a year.
  12. I like what's been posted so far. I actually want some slight disturbance in stained water on the entry. If you slip a bait in with no splash" the bait needs to stay in the zone a little longer with twitches, shaking or what ever. There is something about the noise of a Senko when it hits the water that actually seems to draw a fish's interest, at least on my home lake. Having the skill to drop a bait without a ripple shouldn't be discounted either. Add this to the factoring....silent crank or rattles ?
  13. Good product and the company keeps the price points affordable. Their tubes are also very effective.
  14. I was fishing a large cove and working some pilings well out in the middle and deer swam within 2 feet of my boat to cross the cove. I think it was checking to see if my boat license was current. Had some idiot shoot over my head with a 22 about 4 times three years ago. That was fun.
  15. If red hooks were the deal, why isn't every umbrella rig red wire? I'm not sold on the red hook idea at all.
  16. I'm a huge fan of Luhr Jensen Speed Traps for moderately shallow water. The Norman Deep Little N is my money bait hands down and the Hot Lips is not far behind. The Normans Fat Boy is very productive. The DD22 is a staple. The NXS will be a beast bait. #2 hooks and a kickin' vibration. I could stock these baits alone and toss the rest out and be fine.
  17. It's actually not an XMG50. It's a THSF701 drop shot rod. Tennesee handle. I do have an XMG663S. I had another row of combos not pictured. Sick, I know.
  18. I'm suffering from hearing loss. It seems to be limited to super high frequency sounds like high pitched squealing sounds. Now I understand why I can only make out about half of what Shaw Grigsby says on his TV show.
  19. Some of the extra stuff.Time for a sale ?
  20. I must be really bored to post this stuff.
  21. Don't worry....be grumpy
  22. Do a thread search for Lews and you should find plenty of information, reports, reviews, controversy and so on. Over all, those who own Lews have been very happy with the brand. I own 5 different models myself. It's another option out there.
  23. Glenn passed on some good stuff. If I can ad to it, try a wake bait at first light like an Ima Rumba. A 5 inch hollow body swimbait on a 3/8 jig head, hook exposed near the face of the dam can be good as well. That same swimbait fished with a keel hook weedless up in the dunes can also be productive. Let us know how your trip went. Doug
