  1. For entertainment, Zona's Awesome Fishing Show. For education, Classic Patterns.
  2. A Japanese Revo. It's kind of like sushi filled with Swedish meatballs. I'll get one when Tackle Warehouse closes them out for 129.97.
  3. For your FIRST dedicated crankin rod to meet that wide spectrum of baits, depths and cover, I would go to a medium or moderate action graphite in the 7' range. I don't see myself or anyone else as a fool for preferring a glass rod. I use graphite, glass and a composite depending on the conditions. I fish alot of smallmouth and they are notorious for slashing at baits and my hook, land ratio improved with glass/composite rods. You might explore that option in the future and make the choice for your self. Brand is up to your discretion.
  4. I have to disagree. Not to hijack the thread, the rod used, Lamiglas XMG96JS are 9'6" rated for 6 to 12 test and are forgiving Kind of like glass crankin rods. My buddy and I got four the other day. His where natives, both over 14 pounds and they never jumped. My hatcheries were about 8 to 9 and did cartwheels. Never lost a fish. Braid has it's place for sure. I like the Tuff Line so far and will apply it in bassin this year. PS, When the lake is 41 degrees you fish for what bites.
  5. It's not about baitcast versus spinning. You need to be proficient with both if you want to maximize your ability to apply all techniques. Anglers who fish alot of super clear deep water will lean toward spinning because of techniques and dirt dredgers will lean toward baitcast. Learn both well and increase your options.
  6. There was a time when I refused to pay over ten bucks for a hard bait. Could not justify it in my mind. I eventually picked up some Yo Zuri drums and swear by them. I have since added LC Pointers and feel they are also one bait I would pay the price for.
  7. My favorite magazine. Good west coast coverage.
  8. My only experience is with 15# on my spiining reel used for jig and bobber, steelhead set up. It comes off the spool really well, lays down nice and it floats, thus the reason for the application. I'm not changing. Good product.
  9. If you are truly flipping, the 7-6 should be an advantage. I flip with an 8'. Pitchin might be a bit different. Borrow a 7-6 and try it. Elevate yourself on a box or something to mimic being in the boat. If it's still an issue spit the difference and go with a 7-3. Lots options in that length.
  10. Luhr Jensen Speed Trap.
  11. Went out again yesterday. One 8 lb. hatchery hen. My buddy slammed two gorgeous natives about 15/16 pounds apiece. Corky and PRAWN JFranco. You gotta try it. One native was on a jig.
  12. Throw em' from the time they come out of hibernation until they go back. Be mindful they change color throughout the season.
  13. My current stuff will work for me until I drop dead. But, that new Lews Tournament model looks pretty nice.
  14. You already answered your own question. Flip and pitch texas/rig or use as a jig trailer. I use the small size on a 1/4 oz. football head, exposed hook for smallmouth and it works. I would suggest you try an Owner or Gammi twistlock hook, about a 4/0 for the size you purchased. They are softer then RI baits and they will hold up longer. I use 3/16 to 5/16 weights and get good fall rate. It's a very good bait. Enjoy
  15. That's the whispering in the ear. ;D Shhh Shhh Shhh Shhh Shhh.... Shimano! ;D @ flippin - How have you been? It's a good thing you don't here that whisper coming from the Stradic CI4. Passed by one at Outdoor Emporium not too long ago and almost walked out with one. I'm great IB. The key word is " almost." I'm tickled Rooster is jazzed about his new stuff. A zealous Rooster is a confident Rooster and the bass better watch out !
  16. I'm with RW. Last year I picked up several "new" baits and in colors I would have never considerd until I my buddy bludgened me for not having them and then showed me their worth on the water. Strangely I did the same for and to him though. It pays to have an open mind and an open wallet.
  17. Tube Hula Grub Brushhog Finesse worm Beaver type bait Senko type bait Greens Browns Black/Blue Junebug From time to time I will throw a white or pearl if bait fish are present.
  18. Morgan Freeman and Anthony Hopkins for sure. Hopkins scene in Amistad where he addresses the Supreme Court is one of the best scenes I have ever watched in a movie. The other is when Peter OToole in Troy, as Prium, begs Achilles for his dead son's body back. I'm glad no one said Mark Hammil. I would have thrown up.
  19. Which flavor ? That is my favorite BBQ sauce. If you get more bites after you eat lunch tell us. It might be a new lure scent.
  20. I bought three Soros 3000's and haven't heard that whisper yet. Maybe i'm hearing impaired.
  21. 57 and aging rapidly. I get 10% off at my local tackle dealer on Mondays. The money I save covers my Metamucil and Tylenol.
  22. Do you ever throw sand shrimp or prawns ?
  23. x2. RW got me started using Yo-zuri, and still the best line I have ever used. x 3 Love the stuff, 10 and 12 for crankbaits and 8 for spinning.
