  1. I think you will like it. Suffix handles real well.
  2. Uncle Josh #1 pork frog Sweet Beaver Zoom super chunk Yum Chunk SK Rage Craw
  3. Strange. I just received a free spool of that exact line last Friday and was going to do an inquirey. It is small diameter, slick finished and seem to be low memory. My confidence line is still Yo-Zuri. I will try it fun fishing in the spring. Did it feel like Suffix Seige to you ?
  4. Gerber Titainium. Good stuff at a reasonable price.
  5. Good for you !!!!!!!! I quit 29 years ago. My late father was a two pack of Camels plains a day. He quit when I was a teen. It was hell on earth. He tried everything and nothing helped until one day he whittled a small piece of pine on a job site. He chewed pine sticks for about nine months. One night at the dinner table he told my mom, younger brother and I he felt he had finally beat the craving, the addiction. My brother said, " Thank God..but if you ever have to quit the stick, i'm moving out." Keep us posted bro !
  6. I sold my two STX's to a buddy and replaced them with Lews. I have two standard Tourny models and two Pros. They have performed extremely well.
  7. I haved fished jigs since 1983 and consider myself a mere novice. The attributes of the jig make it a confidence bait in cooler water. Bulk = sillouette and water displacement. Bulk = controlled fall rate, even if the jig itsel;f is 1/2 oz or more. Bulk = substance in the fish's mouth, hopefully holding it longer. It's a bait you can toss in a bale of hay and get it back. A jig mimics " alive and and easy to eat ." This is a lure worth learning to use. I'm still learning.
  8. I was just scanning the net and read Roland Martin signed up to fish FLW majors in 2012. Interesting. I've always admired Guy Eaker, Larry Nixon and Guido Hibdon. Now Roland is back in the mix. I hope the man remains competetive.
  9. Very pretty Major, very pretty......but can they fight?
  10. I needed to de-frag my PC, combine some photo files and generally just clean up the hard drive so I had my four year old granddaughter do it for me.
  11. I have not used a Smoke. I do own 2 Tourny Pros and 2 Tourny models. They perform exceptionally well. I actually prefer the Pro over my Revo Premiers. Both models are great casters, easy to palm and super smooth during retrieves. It may just get down to personal preference for you.
  12. That's a fair question. The Ci14 3000 is $220.00 so the difference was about forty five bucks and I can't stand the foam handle on the CI14. I feel I get the same performance at a lower cost. Initially, I wanted one more Soros because I love that reel and I like matching reels if possible. To get the Stradic at less than the retail price of another Soros sold me. I took the money I saved over a CI14 and applied it to a new Plano Tournamnet Elite tackle bag. Reg. 129.99 and snagged it for $66.00. I like a good deal as much as the next guy.
  13. Being a long time Ducks fan, I had hoped they would beat Stanford but would not have put money on it. A great win for sure. Boise State looses and the BCS ratings will be interesting. Now what will USC do to the new PAC 12 ???
  14. I picked up a new Stradic FJ monday after selling a couple Abu's. I have the Soros 3000's and went with the Stradic 3000 as well. I have only fished it a couple of hours but noticed some things right off. The gear housing is considerably smaller than the Soros although the rotor and spool are the same size. I plan to see if the Soros spool is interchangeable. The Stradic comes with one spool only. I prefer the T handle over the 2500 series paddle handle but the T handle on the FJ is smaller that the Soros. The material on the bail is smaler in diameter than the Soros. The bail trip mechanism is ultra smooth. The drag is also ultra smooth, maybe a bit more consistent than the Soros. I experienced zero line twist which is huge to me. Love the lube port. The length of the reel seat foot is perfect for feathering with the fore finger. The retrieve ratio is also great and the smooth feel of the retrieve absent any resistence is about the same as the Soros. Add resistence and it is much smoother, the X-ship I think. I set her up on a Dobyns Champion 703 with #8 Yo-Zuri and could cast a 4 inch wacky Senko plenty of distance. I like the X-Ship feature. This is the best spinning reel I have purchased to date for sure. The best part was the price. My local dealer has them for 169.99 and I got a special one time coupon for 25% off any four items. $127.49 for a Stradic seemed pretty good to me. They are definately worth a look see.
  15. Really a good one. Way to stick em'.
  16. Not to sound mean but...Nothing will give an edge over the competition. Prepare yourself and your equipment. One thing will, in time, give you an edge....experience. You will have to pay your dues to gain that. It's not sold in a blister pack.
  17. If there was ever a catagory that was influenced by personal preference it's rods and reels. There are so many good products to choose from. Both Shimano and Lews are good names. Duckett and Dobyns are both good sticks. What feels good to you might not for someone else. I can vouch for Dobyns and Lews because I own both but that shouldn't discount the viability of your other options. Dobyns provides the actions, powers, legths and handle configurations I like and the Lews cast and retrieve extremely well and feel great in the hand. Good luck.
  18. If I learned one thing this past two years, it is northern strain bass will eat a much bigger meal than I ever imagined and so will a smallmouth. I had some fantastic bites on Rago BVD's and smallies would smash a super spook. I would rather eat dirt than fish a three inch Senko.
  19. Cliff, I do all my spinnerbait and square bill work with 15 and 20 Yo Zuri Hybrid. I have not had a break off yet. I wouldn't flinch a bit at using your fouro and I know you fish some serious timber and wood.
  20. I didn't catch as many as I would have liked, but then I didn't get to fish as much either. I did improve my overall average size dramatically though. I had my best year with fish over four pounds for sure. I had some excellent trips and some tough ones. The conditions this spring were terrible. I did mange to imrove my PB smallmouth to a 5-5 but missed my goal of a six or better. Overall, I had a good year and now it's time for late silvers and winter steelhead.
  21. The officer did not properly position his patrol car for a traffic stop, too close, not canted to provide a safe approach, He must be redeeming a coupon for a free one.
  22. I often see the the dozens of new lures coming out or lures that are new to me and just couldn't see it as a fish catcher. My buddy and I split a TW order to save shipping and he asked me to add a Black Dog Shell Cracker. He urged me to get one. I looked at it and the 20.00 tag and said it's not for me. He took that thing out in a recent outing a few weeks ago and blew my doubts away. I wish I had listened to his instincts but I didn't. Wait till next season. Been there ??
