  1. Green pumkin, Black Blue fleck, Watermelon redflake and GYCB 176.
  2. Dobyns 735 and 50# Suffix 832 braid for me. I use the Lews MG in 7.1 to 1. I like the longer handle for this application. I have never bent a hook using braid but I understand the concern.
  3. Great trip and two nice fish. Good job !
  4. Buzzbait early and late.
  5. My buddy and I fished a local team open event on my home lake after a nasty cold front ( 37 degrees at take off ). We were the second to the last boat out. Great draw. Our plans went out the window so we just went fishing and refused to get bummed. I was blown away when we had the only limit and managed 2nd place. The best part of the day was the wife came up to the weigh in and there was a bar-b-cue after. Capital City (Olympia WA ) Bass Club put on an outsanding event.
  6. Great choice for an all around heavy action. Your heading says Flippin and Pitchin rod so consider the 765 Flip. I have that model in my hand more than any other these days. If you intend to cast as well, the 735 would be your choice.
  7. I'm Packman89's best customer. I use almost all the equipment he sells. Actually, I am a behavior modification specialist.
  8. Bass rods were generally at or less than 5'6" due to the materials available in the 70's and before. Steel, bamboo and glass were the materials of choice. Around 1979/80 Bo Dowden won the Classic fishing a jig with an unusually long rod of 7 feet. Cotton Cordell began to distribute them. It was about this same time Fenwick hooked up with Dee Thomas when Thomas was limited by BASS to a seven and a half foot rod as Flippin was born. As materials advanced, rods became longer to meet technique needs. Now 8 footers are available by most manufactures. Today, 6-6 and 7-0 models are still top sellers but 7-2 to 7-6 is gaining momentum.
  9. Please Lord, spare us of the old polyester jumpsuits, the sponsor patch vests and hover hats of the 70's and 80's. Let the heathen wear triple hole white belts and sunglasses that look like welding goggles. I have smoat mine enemy and now stand before a trolling motor that is moved by my foot and not by my hand. Let your bounty be seen by all men through side imaging. Amen.
  10. Erie. I would take my buddy who moved to Ohio four years ago and have a time. The elusive 6 pound smallmouth is the second reason.
  11. For shirts it's Columbia SPF for me. Under Armour heat gear is pretty nice too. I have the same hat too. Very stylish. If you get a buff be sure and pull it down befor you go in the minit mart.
  12. Dobyns Champion 703 spinning
  13. Does the color of this combo make my butt look big?
  14. Swap out the stock hooks with Triple Grips or Gammi wide gap and use an oval split ring. Fish it on 50 pound braid, it floats and you can get an easy hook set, even on super long casts. If you fish for smallmouth, get ready to see this bait get knocked two feet out of the water. Just keep the cadence, even after a miss or four. They will get it sooner or later. Use a translucent pattern in clear water. The braid does not spook them, no pun intended. Awesome fall bait.
  15. I'm for chipping in and getting a plane ticket so he can try his skill in the everglades. Spear fishers taste like chicken.
  16. Jak's Baits look good. I'm well stocked on Yamamoto so it will be awhile before I test them. I like their color palet. Sooooooooooooo When is RAGE going to offer us a spider grub ? Still waiting Big O.
  17. You are fine for the baits you mentioned. It's the deep divers with alot of resistence that require a 5 something to 1. Torque is needed when pulling baits with big bills. It will save your wrists.
  18. I'm lucky if I get one day in my 9 day rotation.
  19. The guy asks a serious question hoping for intelligent responses to give him the best advantage at a potential career change and wants to make the most of this employment opportunity and all you guys can do is joke about it. Pathetic. Wear the thin black tie....but match it with a black fedora hat, white shirt, black suit, black shoes/white socks and sunglasses. If you go to lunch with the human resources person, order a whole chicken and two pieces of plain white toast. Hum Sweet Home Chicago and the job is as good as yours.
  20. Next time they will use a steeper ramp.
