  1. Inches per turn ?
  2. Yo Zuri Hybrid does well with Palomar or Trilene knot. I have yet to have a failure with either in 35 years IF I TIE IT PROPERLY. I think you will be pleased with the line.
  3. You make a good point. I think having a consistent familiar feel with your equipment helps. It probably applies more to reels than rods. Many anglers will have five or more different lengths and or actions of rods on the deck and they all have the same reel although the retrieve ratios might differ. I like my reels to be the same if possible. It helps with the flow. Having "similar " rods is also nice. Some guys may enjoy variety and that's good too. Wanting all your reels the same has a disadvantage though. It empties your wallet if you change manufactures.
  4. I hope the activists from PETA didn't view this program !! I could hear them sitting around the table drinking blueberry spinach iced latte's..... " Thats so foul and discusting....forcing those poor defenseless fishies to be thrust in the crotches of those big ugly nasty screaming fisherman. Lets start a lawsuit right now. Aren't bass protected under the US Consitution ? There must be an ammendment that covers crotch pollution for wildlife. And those noisy lines....what is it called.. braid ? It hurts my ears to hear that high frequency whine as thry reeled in those poor fish. I'll bet that line damages the cross members of those docks they kidnapped those fishies from. " Sorry, too much Kopi Luwak.
  5. Nice. It must provide more of a gliding fall. Good photo.
  6. The Hemphill gang: Larry Nixon, Harold Allen and Tommy Martin. I wouldn't mind spending a day with Dee Thomas or Bobby Barrack either. Some day I would like to fish with Gary Dobyns. All these guys have added HISTORY to the sport and some still are.
  7. Kopi Luwak. 65$ a cup. I refuse to drink any coffee that requires I floss afterward !
  8. There are a million companies that produce tubes. Many are regional and the colors they produce are regional. In the PNW Outlaw Baits and Dry Creek Baits have a big following. Strike King makes a good tube. The nice thing about the smaller companies is you can order in 50's or 100's and save a few bucks.
  9. Glass rods have a different kind of feel. The transmission of vibration is, for lack of a better term, delayed. Good glass rods transmit what the bait is doing better than you would think. The Lamiglas SR705R is a great example. The Dobyns Champion 705CB Glass is a composite rod. Lower 2/3 graphite and transitions to glass in the upper third. You would do well with either rod albeit the Dobyns is quite a bit lighter. Just like some guys say braid makes them better jig fisherman, glass or composite rods make me a better crankbait fisherman.
  10. My buddy just informed me Pure Fishing dropped Larry Nixon. How do you drop a legend ? I guess Nixon signed up with Dobyns Rods and Yamamoto. Larry Nixon is my all time favorite bass angler. I wonder who else was chopped ? It's like NFL coaches. Go figure.
  11. Dobyns Champion 765Flip, LEWS Heavy Duty 7.1 to 1 and #20 Sunline Sniper FC Dobyns Champion 805C, LEWS Tornament SS, #50 Power Pro braid (no leader) I also pitch plastics with a Dobyns Extreme DX745C and a LEWS T-Pro with #16 Sunline Sniper FC.
  12. My buddy tried to talk me into buying a Rumba and I laughed him off. He got the last laugh when he wacked them last May and I had nothing close to it in the box. I have two now.
  13. Happy New Year A-Jay !! I worked from 1830 last night to 0630 this morning. Like usual, there was enough STUPID in the City I work for to give everyone a second helping. Chocolate Cheesecake anyone ?
  14. I agree with Kent 100%. Spinning is about 40% of my fishing and smallmouth require a good solid reel with a consistent drag. My investment in spinning gear comes close to matching baitcast equipment as far as outfit to outfit goes. Don't skimp.
  15. Do you mean value based baits ? There's nothing cheap about the following products. They are priced so as to be an excellent value and very affordable. Havoc Zoom Big Bite Robo Worm Rage Luhr Jensen Normans Strike King Bandit Rebel North Star Seiberts War Eagle Peppers and the list goes on and on.
  16. Cold weather item: Cabelas Guidewear set. Just got them last September. This is a very good product. Hot weather: Under Armour heat gear. Sun protection: Buff and Glacier Sun gloves. Don't screw with your skin. The UV index at Clear Lake almost blistered me raw. Sun screen doesn't cut it. Cover up. My wife had skin cancer on her face and almost lost her eye. Cover up boys and girls !!
  17. Wait until he gets a few more years in and the waistband of his jeans have elastic in them. Thank God for velcro, I can't tie my shoes anymore. Now that's a fashion statement.
  18. I just received my BB1 and Super Duty yesterday and have fished the T-pro, TS and MG for over a year. The T-Pro is about light weight, carbon fiber handle and alloy gears. Great caster and smooth on the retrieve. Mine are all 6.4 to 1 ratio. The TS is a bit heavier with alloy handle and brass gear set. The casting quality is right on parr with the T-Pro. Great workhorse reel. Probably the best overall value seeing it has dual cast control features. The MG is not dual cast control and employs magnets only. I picked mine, a 5.1 and 7.1 to 1 ratio up at a sportsman show at a great price. They are a little more fickle to set but it only takes a half dozen casts. This is a good reel for pitching 3/16 oz and hevier baits. I would suggest the TS over this model however. For twenty bucks, it's worth having the dual cast control. I have only test cast my BB1 at the local city lake. This reel is a caster ! I threw an Excalibur squarebill and darn near spooled the reel. This model is a 6 pin brake and no magnets. It clearly does not need magnets. I could probable fish all BB1's and cover every application. I really like this reel. It will oputcast my Gen 2 Revo Premiers and Winch's by a substrantial amount. This is a very smooth reel. Can't wait to flush and re-lube. It can only get better. The Super Duty is designed for braid and has a little channel machined into the spool so line slip is no longer an issue. I wish this feature was on all the LEWS. I spooled mine up with 20# Sunline Sniper FC for pitchin this spring. It will replace one of my TS models so I can use it for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits. This model has the 95MM power handle. It is butter on the cast and retrieve. Over size Brass gears and dual cast control. I can't comment on the drag until I fish it for a while. The side plates have a soft touch rubberized coating. I plan on ito see how this material holds up before I consider getting another for punching with braid. Hope this helps.
  19. If you limit your options, you limit your success. Spinning reels have their place in bass fishing. Don't limit yourself and keep an open mind.
  20. Hula grub in 176 with a 1/4 oz. football head Green Ugly 3.5 inch tube Robo worm or a Shark on a dropshot Normans Deep Little N in **** color Revenge or Northstar 1/2 oz. spinnerbait in green or blue glimmer shad Sammy 5 inch green pumpkin lizard in a light Carolina rig LC Pointer 95 Ghost shad These baits will always be ready to go any time of the year.
  21. Have you ever watched the movie Toy Story ? Remember that little kid that destroyed the toys, tore them up and was going to blow them up with firecrackers ? That's my oldest son. He was a Lego freak as a child Doug. Must have gotten that part from his mother. There may come a day when you make such an offer and I show up at your door. I love pulled pork sandwiches. The other Doug
  22. Glenn, you may have to describe what a french press is. Raider might it's lifting weights while wearing just a thong That iamge is just so wrong.
  23. Doug, the trick to putting that set together is super glue. That way you do it once and never again. I speak from experience.
