  1. Normans Deep Little N. My best color is discontinued. I also like Western Firetiger and Chartreuse Rootbeer Luhr Jensen Speed Trap and Hot Lips in Crystal Craw and Brown Mud Craw.
  2. When I first started bass fishing a six inch worm was the staple bait. When I discovered the Zoom Brushhog, I pretty much put the worm box away. I got back into worm fishing some but the shakey head was the rig. I picked up some 9 inch hand pured worms a couple of years ago and they have done well. The lowly worm has lost it's alure but it still is a great fish catcher.
  3. I've used it for over 30 years without an issue.
  4. Read up on Clear Lake. The Hitch is the dominant forage base. Almost all my swimbaits used on Clear Lake are hitch patterns. That color series works on other lakes where there are no hitch.
  5. Personal preference. Fish what's most comfortable for you.
  6. Take a look at the Dobyns DX784C. That is my football rod and triples as a pitchin stick and Carolina Rig rod.
  7. My perspective is being versatile starts with an attitude. Anglers who purpose themselves to have an open mind, experiment and commit them selves to learn and obtain the "stuff" to fish different ways and in different locations are more likely to be versatile. The guys and gals who choose to fish major tournament circuits will live or die by expanding or not expanding thier knowledge and skills. Recreational anglers who, as A-Jat said, want to get bit, do so out of a love for what bass fishing offers, diversity. All and all, it's easy to make this sport far more complicated than it needs to be.
  8. Missed your movie trivia. Glad you are back.
  9. Having a day off over 50 degrees so I can just get the heck out.
  10. I caught my first fish at age six. I don't recall the date or time.
  11. Does November thru March 12 count as winter ? Dobyns Champion 704CB with a Lews TPro Dobyns Champion 764CRM with a Lews BB1 Dobyns Champion 734C with a Lews Super Duty Dobyns Champion 702S with a StadicFJ 2500 It will be here Tuesday: Extreme 795Flip/Punch and another Super Duty
  12. Gammi wide gap finesse would be better
  13. Flippin and Pitchin
  14. The one and only. He wore a three piece suit and the jewelry on one hand was worth more than I will make in my life time. His body guards were most imposing.
  15. I've had smallmouth knock a super spook a foot out of the water. Sharp hooks are a must. When there is a good chop on the water, it's at it's best.
  16. Being a celebrity and hosting a TV show with a narrow topic is not easy. Zona has a good show, not great but good. He's still living his mullet days out which is fine. He brings out a side of some of his guests we might not have seen before. I just pity his camera men. Look for the double rainbow.
  17. Amahd Rashad, Dan Fouts, Al Fuerbach, Neil Steinhaur, Mac Wilkins, Steve Prefontaine, and a couple of dozen world and national track and field record holders. I've met a couple of dozen world and national champion motocross racers. I did meet James Brown in the LA airport but that was no big deal. I got to hold the very first pair of Nike track shoes used in an event and worn by Ivory Crockette. Who'd a thunk it. Stupid little swoosh. Does Stan Fagerstrom count as famous?
  18. The 704CB. NOT THE GLASS. The glass is a medium light action rod for throwing lighter baits like a 1/8 oz. Speed Trap and similar baits. For square bills, the 704CB might be a tiny bit light if you fish in heavy wood cover. The 704CB is my choice for a jerk bait rod hands down. It's awesome for poppers and smaller Sammys and so on. One of our new members, Paul Mueller is a great go to guy for info on Dobyns rods.
  19. Curry lamb with a nice mango relish over wild rice, some maple syrup brazed scallops with a light salad and balsamic vinaigrette. I don't drink wine so a 2 liter of Pepsi to wash her down.
  20. Have you stopped beating your wife yet ?
  21. By buddy, Big John is very frugal. He changes his line once a decade whether he needs to or not. Me as needed. I'm careful how it's stored
  22. That stupid jig with the bead chain dredlocks and anything made of elastec.
