  1. Jim, what SIZE battery would be better? Don't know much about deep cycle battery sizing. I think its an 85 amp/hr battery.
  2. Just went to their website to read up on this product. I gotta say, they're good at selling it. Just spent over $30 on a kit with all their products in it. Hope it's as good for me as you guys say it is for you. Thanks Glenn for the heads up on this stuff.
  3. no, I've got a third battery just for cranking that I didnt mention. sorry.
  4. Got a guy interested in buying my 1999 model yr. MG 43# foot control TM (in good condition). I have NO IDEA what price to tell him. What's this thing worth?
  5. I have (for now) 1 duralast 24MD-DL battery for the TM, and another identical battery for accessories. I'm not happy with the runtime of this 12 volt tm system. until I can afford to upgrade to a 36 volt, 101# powerdrive i-pilot, I want to parallel these two batteries for some extended runtime. My questions are: 1. can I expect to get interference with my humminbird? 2. What other pitfalls come with this setup that I am not aware of?
  6. go buy a cheap child's toy truck and trailer. practice backing it. watch which way the trailer goes when you steer the truck in the different directions. that should help give you a good mental picture of how to do it. remember... SMALL CORRECTIONS EARLY with the steering wheel!
  7. In Indiana, boat (motor included) and trailer need separate titles and registration.
  8. Another Carolina fan is on line. ;D lol...nope I like Butler, and whoever is playing duke.
  9. I HATE DUKE. > > > > > > Woulda been a MUCH better story if Butler won.
  10. BPS tournament series in mardi gras & smokin bluegill colors. lites 'em up.
  11. water pump impeller replaced. pump is stainless. I'll take my handheld GPS next time out for an accurate MPH reading. THX.
  12. last weekend was the first time I put my new boat (1999 Viper Cobra, 125 merc) in the water. WOW I'm really amazed at the ride in 1-2 ft chop. It felt like driving a new car on a newly paved road! I put the boat thru its paces. Flat out, trimmed up, almost all my gear on board, and an empty livewell, the boat hit 57 mph. My mechanic just called me after doing some routine maintenance and a lower unit reseal, and said two of the four carbs are running lean. He said it'd be a good idea to go thru all four carbs and correct the issues with them. My questions... 1. how much performance am I losing with 2 lean running carbs? 5mph? 2. the carb job really cant wait can it? I know a lean running 2 stroke engine doesn't last very long before you burn something up. Good idea to spend the $350 now and have it done? 3. any other things to look for?
  13. You've got GPS on your Minn kota, AND on your humminbird. You can link two humminbirds... why not a trolling motor? I don't know why you cant load lakemaps, plot your course the night before, and not have to think about it at the lake. seems logical to me! Are you listening Minn kota? :-?
  14. Scrutch ..... if I can find it, I have a SOSpenders World Class I'll see you. I haven't used it for a few years. It should probably have a rearm kit put in it ok. great! shoot me a pm when ya find it and we'll haggle a lil'. 8-)
  15. anyone has an auto they wanna sell..I'll buy one.
  16. I think Crocs scare fish. ;D ;D
  17. So Clark...really now... do like rage tail baits? + can you say summary judgment?
  18. X2 . Great advice. X3 I just bought a boat too. AT first, the owner said that my request was a little unusual. When I explained to him WHY I wanted have a certified mechanic check it out, he understood and allowed me to do it. Learned 2 things going thru that process... 1. The mechanic might find something the owner didn't know about... no matter how meticulously he might have taken care of the boat. 2. If the owner wont let you have the boat checked out... you don't want his boat...period. Get your own mechanic, or speak FACE TO FACE with the mechanic that checked out the boat previously. Promise you wont be sorry that you did. BTW...my mechanic found a lower unit seal issue that the previous owner didn't know about. It wasn't leaking oil, BUT there was water in the lower unit oil. owner paid for the $375 repairs. That saved me from ruining a lower unit, which costs around $3000.
  19. Just went thru that myself. I went used. Very glad I did. Got a showroom condition 18ft. viper cobra. paid cash (same amount mighta covered a down payment on a new one) . If I went new, I'd be making $400-$600 per mo. payments for the next TWELVE YEARS! you dont have to think long to see the difference. I can still put $5000 into the boat on electronics and tackle and rods/reels and all kindsa stuff, AND I'll STILL be money ahead of a new one. Unless money is truly NO OBJECT.... go used.
  20. tried it carolina rigged in the small river that goes thru my hometown. best early season action I've ever seen. smallies kill it and the lobster's larger profile seems to be getting me some larger fish. gonna try the 5/0 keel weighted hook in the heavier tree lined and blow-down areas. I think there's bigger fish in there.
  21. you didnt REEEALLY think the bait monkey would leave you alone...DID YOU??? ;D ;D ;D
  22. I'm just fried this semester. I just finished a 14 page paper (not-double spaced lol) for my Sociology midterm about domestic duties in "lesbigay" relationships, lol. It just doesn't get any worse than that in college. I don't want a college degree THAT bad. Is that the ONLY subject they could come up with? uurrrrmmmpppphhh (puking)
  23. Every time I show off I get burned. great story.
