  1. Wow. I'm not sure I'm gonna make it through the week reading fishing reports like that! Nice job guys!
  2. Oh man Bob. That's terrible news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I look forward to fishing with you again someday. God Bless you in these tough times. Simp, I will not be there this year. I have family priorities that same week of the Roadtrip. Hopefully next year!! I will be watching your posts intently and will be living through you all vicariously this week. I wanna see some pics of "forced perspective" monsters!! Have lots of fun!
  3. yeah Bob... ^^^^^^ THIS^^^^ I might have scared him off at Kentucky Lake with the "dry ride" I gave him in my boat. It was 40 degrees with 30 mph winds when we hit WAY too many waves that splashed over the side right on Bob. He was drenched right after I said that my boat way known for a dry ride!
  4. That wouldn't make ME back up! Ouch!
  5. I was wondering how many would actually take me seriously about the cigar since I didn't put any smiley faces in that post... Anyone dumb enough to do that deserves the permanent brand that would result! LOL
  6. Repeat...Repeat...Repeat....Repeat... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/116629-how-far-can-you-cast/page-5
  7. A good lit cigar will take 'em off your junk in a hurry!
  8. Add me to the list. Prayers sent.
  9. Yes. It IS only 2D sonar.
  10. I was caught in that same wind on Kentucky that day. I have a 18 ft Cobra and there was NO crest-skipping for me that day! It was a very slow bow-to-the-sky ride back to Moor's. That was my first big water test navigating through the kidney busters. Talk about baptism by fire! If I remember right Ghoti, wasn't your wife with you that day?
  11. You want good customer service? You can't beat Humminbird. Easy to update the software, easy to install maps (just plug it in!), more user friendly. Good quality units. Check into used units too. Check here first of course. Don't buy from anyone with a couple posts. Do your research and buyer beware. That said, I have bought a HB 1197, and a HB 1198 NIB private sale online with no problems. I saved $1000 on one unit, $700 on the other.
  12. Bill, You are both correct and incorrect. Garmin does not make a downscan unit. Correct. Minn Kota's US2 transducer IS compatable with Garmin's units. Downeaster is correct when he talks about the adapter cable to go from his Garmin unit to his Minn Kota US2 TM. 13. If you ever get a chance, ask Ghoti what skipping across five foot swells at 50mph on Kentucky lake in a 21 foot Legend feels like. I'm not sure he's walked right since.
  14. Yeah, you should plug it in every night. It's nice to know what kind of capacity you have but it's really hard on your batteries to leave them in a state if discharge. AND... If you happened to forget and leave a switch on, you could be replacing all of them at once. Don't ask me how I know this!
  15. Mine are always open while charging. I keep my boat in my garage attached to my house. I take no chances. I lose way more than a boat if I get an explosion and fire!
  16. I asked this same question and I got some good advice when I bought my first boat... Buy it when you need it. Outside of the stuff to make you safe and legal, and most of this stuff listed here is good advice, but what some use, others never will. I have some boat fenders that I have never used that I bought right after I got my boat. A total waste of money. Keep a pen and paper on the boat and when you identify a need, write it down.
  17. This is exactly why I buy boats with no metal flake in the bottom gel coat. My last repair like that cost me $50. Granted, it wasn't a two foot gash but not having to match that flake is a lot cheaper! It looks to me like that log had something metal stuck in it to make such a sharp gash. That is painful just to look at. I feel your pain bro.
  18. I'm not sure if it is feasible for you, but if it were me I would wait and save up the money to get a little nicer unit at the console. I think it would be worth the wait to get a side imaging unit. The extra features found in a Humminbird 798 will be used far more than two cheaper units. They can be found used online for $600-$800 all day.
  19. Tiger gave it all up when he didn't call that penalty on himself. It will always be in the back of his mind and will influence his future round(s). I look for a big number for him today. If he shoots a low score it just proves that he has no conscience. I know it is a long shot, but I would love to see Freddy Couples finally put a good final round together and win it. He's been so close many times recently but blows up late in the tournament.
  20. 120 yards is regular for me.... Did you know that back in '82 I could throw a pigskin a quarter mile?
  21. Show him this thread! Lots of people are happy for him! Nice catch kid! Dad's gonna have to work a little harder to beat you now!
  22. BEST fishing site in the world... check THAT fact...
  23. Going with the meat candy. Not even close.
  24. I would have been paddling so hard my kayak would have looked like a hydroplane throwing up a forty foot rooster tail at 100 mph! I like big boats in the ocean.
  25. He's the only designer I know that designed a dogleg par three. I played it. It is #13 at Crooked Stick CC in Indianapolis. Site of the 1991 PGA Championship won by a young John Daly.
