  1. the poll doesnt go low enough for me :-[ my average fish is probably in the 1 lb range, and if im lucky some days it will be 1.5. altough today i did catch a solid 5+ momma
  2. i agree that mid day is the time to catch big fish, ive just now learned that this season. my first 4+ fish came on memorial day at 1:00. it was HAWT. my second came about 2 weeks ago ~11:00, and i just got my new personal best at 1:30! i fell that the morning is easier to fish, and it just seems like thats the time to go, but lately ive been doing the mid day thing and im catching less but bigger fish.
  3. i bet some of the hits are bluegill. when i use smaller worms(6 inch) i get alot of bluegill action, and even catch a few! i actually went to a 6 inch lizard and that made it much more useful for bassin
  4. how is he rigging up the bluegill? id like to try this
  5. while ive heard of big ones here in PA, ive yet to see them. i consider a big fish anything over 3 lbs. then again , ive only been fishing for about 4 months. my PB is probably in the 4-5 lb region, and ive only caught 2 over 2 pounds. anyone wanna take me where bigger fish are?? :-/
  6. Down at my favorite pond(~1 acre) i catch some awesome bass, one being my personal best of just under 5.5 lbs. the bass fishing is great, i can take the girlfriend there and have a good time because she doesnt have to try hard to catch a fish. The problem is the fish arent as fat as i think they should be, and i think this may be because of the huge overpopulation of sunnys. they are EVERYWHERE!. just walking around the edge of the pond you can probably count 200 sunnys just walking around the parimiter. is there anything i can do about this over population? id like to start seeing some bigger, fatter bass come out of this little place. thanks for the help!
  7. i would assume at least 14.5 inches, the body was definately bigger than the mouth. as i look at other pictures of bass i have a feeling it was more than 5 pounds, but i cant tell forsure. ill try and get camera phone pictures up tonight
  8. i went fishing on memorial day with a few buddys down at the neighbors pond, its about an acre and a half. for the past year ive seen these 2 huge bass swimming around together, and i also did on monday. i cast my 6 inch rubber lizard out there to them and BAM! finally had a big one. i wasnt expecting it to be anything major, although bigger than my biggest fish of MAYBE 2 pounds. i was expecting maybe 3 pounds. but when i got the fish to the bank i almost fainted. it was huge! i pulled out out and its bottom lip felt like a 1/2 inch piece of tube steel! i had no way to weigh or measure it but i would asume it was 20 inches and at least 5 pounds. this was confirmed by my buddy who had caught a 4.5 pounder and he said this was a good bit heavier. i always had said that if i could fit my fat hand in a bass' mouth, id get it mounted. well i could, but i just didnt have the heart to take such a beautiful fish. does a 5 pound fish have a mouth opening similar to my hand size of ~11 inches circumfrence? the fish wasnt overly fat, but was no skiinny fish. im still pumped on this big a fish from such a small pond in PA!
  9. is there any way to tell if you should keep a fish out of a lake or not? i fish a small pond loaded with 10-12 inch bass and tons of sunnys and crappies. the bigger bass that are caught are pretty skinny. a 6 lb was pulled out the other day, but otherwise they are on the smaller side. would it be beneficial to not keep but transfer some of these fish to another pond with a much smaller population?
  10. sorry to hijack but i am also fishing a small pond and had a few questions. the pond is about an acre or 2 and is nothing but weeds. there are 2 major rocks sticking out of the water, and the pond might be 5 feet at the deepest, and thats probably being generous. any opinions on how to fish such a weedy lake? ive been throwing t-rigged worms and fairing pretty well but not catching anything major. any way to romp through the weeds and get some big girls attention?
  11. pulled it out of the 1 acre pond down the street. i would guess it was 20 inches at least, but didnt measure it
  12. i just caught a bullhead and a frog this afternoon, all on a plastic worm
  13. the pond MIGHT be 5-6 feet deep from what i can see, and is LOADED with weeds. hopefully i will have some luck. thanks for the imput fellas.
  14. maybe this will help? http://www.weather.com/weather/local/18951?lswe=18951&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&from=whatwhere its supposed to rain tonight( scattered showers) along with tomorrow and saturday. any ideas? the first time i fished this pond a few weeks ago was just about when the remnants of a hurricane was to hit. i was catching them non stop in a few scattered showers
