  4. im not sure if anyone does this, or has tried this but i have a crazy idea... has anyone ever tried using a fly on a split shot rig??? i was thinking of just tie'n a fly on and using a split shot about 15" above it. thought it may be good for a tough day. obviously you could use larger or smaller flys, but just an idea... any thoughts????
  5. anyone use this? what do you think? or anyone just have an opinion on it????
  6. i saw these on *** and ive never heard of / seen them before. has anyone here tried them? are they any count?

  8. going out with a few friends next weekend and im trying to figure out where to go. My friend lived in Kanawha City and has his bass boat already docked in the water - so we will launch from there. i have fished around the city a lot, but we were wanting to run either way up or way down river. what spots are the best? also, is it possible to get to the kanawha falls in a bass boat? thank you!
  9. ok guys, i got my 1st big tournament this weekend. the lake is clear and about 70*. weather is supposed to be 60's and partly cloudy. the lake is pretty rocky, no grass, no timber. theres a good bit of shad in the lake. so here what im gona offer them black cavatron buzzbait rebel pop r (bone) zoom fluke (disco velvet) shakey head robo worm (aarons magic) venom 3.5" tube (smoke & pepper) senko (pumpkin seed) white war eagle spinner winner winner chicken dinner???? anything else i should add???
  10. anyone tried this product??? specifically the shad flavored. i was thinking of spraying on my flukes and such. thanks
  11. i just started fishing poppers a month or so ago, so far, ive had a lot of luck with the rebel pop r and the rapala skiter pop. so what do you guys like?
  12. my fired gave me several of these. my question is when/where/how to fish them best?
  13. ok, im going fishing this sunday and there is supposed to be a solid cold front move through friday. a few days ago i was smoking them on top water, will this work after the front or am i wasting my time?
  14. colors for me go like this.. (clear - pumpkinseed)(slightly stained - watermelon) (muddy - black/blue) i rig it backwards with a 4/0 gammy. i have a lot of luck tossing them around weedlines. just let it fall on semislack line. pop it once or twice and repeat. i try to cover a lot of ground with these because you can flip in and out quickly.... imo, the work best in less than 10ft of h2o
  15. I really like 4.5" robo worms & zoom finesse worms. and i use jewel jig heads designed by jeff kriet. best heads there are!!!! on a side note, make suure to use 6/8 lb test
  16. going for some big river smallies. are these a good option this time of year???
  17. im smallmouth fishing on the newriver where it flows into bluestone lake. its a rocky river. depth is no more than 12 ft in the area. the water is clear and in the low 80s. ive had luck with wacky senkos and tubes. i was thinking of hitting some cranks off the bottom for a bigger bite. maybe a crig? any other ideas???
  18. use a bread tie to hang a few slices of onions. works 2x better than bread, dogfood, etc.... also it last much longer
  19. water is clear sam. thanks for all the advice guys
  20. at my home lake, it is TOUGH to say the least. in the spring and early summer, it was taking around 15 lbs to win. to the average is between 5-7 lbs. largemouth have all but been nonexistant. spots are the majority of what is being weighed in. so here are my questions, 1. what lures / tactics are a sure fire plan to catch a limit of spots? 2. after getting a limit, what lures would you use to maybe grab a largemouth or two just some extra info, the surface temp is mid 80s, water is VERY clear. the lake doesnt have much structure or cover. its deep on the middle, shallow at the bank. very little weeds/timber. a fer rocky places. thanks!

  22. tubes i use: gander mtn tubes, coffee tubes, yum vibra king. i really really really like them around rocks and bluffs in clear / stained water. i stick to natural colors. occasionally i'll throw a shad looking color. i just hop it, drag it, pop it... you cant go wrong. just go slow. also a dap of megastrike! This is what i do with tubes, and it is easily a top 5 producer for me... also, if water is EXTREMELY clear, i use venom stubby tubes 2.5" in smoke pepper - it is a KILLER
  23. a friend of mine gave me a ton of these. there are stick baits, jerk baits, and cranks... i think they are somewhat old, but anyone like/dislike them?
  24. ok, i have a ton of lures like the x-raps, husky jerks, pointers, etc.... my question is what are the differences in them? when do you use one of the other? i know this is broad, but im ignorant to them
  25. youre correct. i could see a well defined bottom at 15ft. and around 12 feet were where the arcs were. i tried a carolina rig, cranks, t-rigged plastics. i caught 3 total - 2 on the flick-shake and one on the shaky head. all three fish were 13-14" spots
