  1. The new lineup of rods/reels are coming out and I was wondering... ...I have a few of the Crucial rods. One with a broken tip that needs to be sent in. Is Shimano going to replace my rod with the new or old Crucial?
  2. I've grown to love flippin/pitchin...in fact, I use this method more than ever when I hit the water. The other day I was organizing my terminal tackle box when I came across a pack of Mustad flippin straight shank hook. Never been used. Then it hit me...I have never used this style of hook before for flippin/pitchin. I've had so much success and confidence in the EWG hooks that I had overlooked and buried this style of hook in the back of my mind and tackle box. I'm probably going to give it a try now that I can't seem to get this off my mind, just to compare it to what I'm already using. What's your take on the straight shank/EWG hooks for flippin/pitchin?
  3. My brother bought one (same specs as yours), spooled up with 15lb fluorocarbon. I took it out just to see how well it will perform. Went hunting for some smallies on the river, pitching jigs. Had one hit and as I set the hook, I noticed how much it loaded up. I ended up loosing the fish. The rod does feel quite stiff in your hands, but after that one strike...it's suited best for treble hook lures.
  4. Lipless crankbait
  5. Well, I'm no expert on computers but I've heard a professor say that Macs do get viruses and the notion that they don't is absurd. The majority of users in this world are PC users...so with that said...obviously that higher percent of users will be targeted. Again...what he said.
  6. I like the idea...not so sure I'll actually give it the green light. So many ways this could have turned ugly!
  7. I suppose they could have handled the disposal of his corpse a bit better. A part of me says, "Screw'em...this was something this man started...many of those folks who died on 9/11 never got a proper burial." The other, "Have to do things right, whether we like it or not."
  8. The thing is with Chris...in the back of his mind...he's probably thinking..."Am I truly the best, because if it wasn't for George, I would be in the situation that I am in now." Still in the end...you still got to go out and perform, deal with the cards you're dealt with. Regardless how controversial it may have been...it's still what it is. Jay...I thought the guy had good intentions...he was just rubbing everybody in the wrong way. Great season...makes me want to get out and squeeze off a few hundred rounds!
  9. It's the real deal. I fished with the 2.5...swapped the hooks out for the new KVD trebles...caught some dandy smallies and northern pikes already...on just one squarebill. I've had smallies slapped at it and some of them were barely hooked. I tend to not buy into the hype of lures, but with the success I've had with just this one KVD squarebill & the treble hooks...I'm pretty much sold on it.
  10. I'm in the exact same boat. Switched all my line to Hi-Vis Yellow Power Pro, but now switching them all to fluoro. I had way too many complications with tying a leader. Too many knots breaking and in the end it was something I was not getting comfortable with. I gave it a shot and found out I rather stick to one main line and not have to worry about two knots giving out or the leader snapping. Try it out and that's the best way to find out if you'll like it or not.
  11. I've had numerous occasions where bass has shaken off my treble hooks. I'm throwing my cranks off a Crucial 6'6 Med Extra fast, with 12 lb fluoro. I know many would recommend using a glass rod or even switching to mono line for cranking, but I'm thinking about replacing my crank baits with new hooks such as this one http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0012130115211a.shtml What do you think and what would you recommend?
  12. YepI bought a new spool of Trilene 100% - 12 lb. Very first cast with a Booyah spinnerbait along with a 20 ft section of that line went flying and never came back. I didn't even feel that line snap on its way out. I had numerous times where the line would break on a hook set. Frustrated with it, I took it off and decided to just use it as a leader on my braided lines. Even as a leader, I had multiple break offs below the knot. I really don't know what to say. This was not the line everybody was praising about. I really had high expectations of it since many anglers love it. My first time using it was horrible. Could it have been that maybe I just bought a bad spool? Yeah, but because of that horrible 1st time experience, I'm a bit more hesitant on dropping another $18 on it. Maybe I'll take another shot at it to see if I'll get better results with a new spool, but until thenVicious has not let me down yet.
  13. I like them and have it has produced for me, but it's too soft. Go ahead and try them out, it's a good bait. I'm going to go back to the YUM dingers. IMO, they work just as good and you get 4 more for the same price I believe.
  14. WowI've used Vicious for about two seasons now with great results. Never had a break-off yet (knock on wood), tough line, and great price. I've caught tons of bass and huge channel cats with it without any problems. Heck, I've heard so much praises of the Trilene 100% that I decided to give it a shot this year and I cannot explain how disappointed I am with it. I took that junk off, spooled the Vicious line back on and never had a problem since. I don't know what to say, everybody's experiences are different, but in my experience with this lineI had great results and will continue to buy it until I run into these problems many of you here have experienced.
  15. I basically asked a reasonable question, which nobody has really brought up. Although this poster's response isn't all that harshsometimes when you really don't have anything informative or nice to sayit's nice to leave comments such as this out.
