  1. I live and fish in central Florida. The fish get big here and I think the bigger ones have a little tougher jaw.The mag worm is the only trokar I use.It is made heavier than the others. To get a 10+in the boat I want the odds on my side.Whatever you choose to fish with is fine I merely gave my opinion to answer the question.
  2. I bought trokar mag worm in4/0 size.If you have trouble sticking big fish on plastics this might be your answer.Less pressure needed to hook up.The most important tackle you own is your hook and your line.
  3. Buy John Hopes book Trackin Trophies available from Debra Dean p.o.Box10399 Fort Worth,TX 76114 .The man spent years radiotracking large bass. This should help understand bass movement and location.
  4. The best I have seen in my life is no longer made.Manns fs454 not an attractant, but I would show fishing partners how I could lead a bass around the boat without setting the hook. This was around 1980 or so.
  5. Look up tying the double fluke rig & count it down into the school before starting a retrieve with short quick snaps of the rodtip held low to the water.
  6. The Producto jiggle tail in black grape w/ice blue sicle tail is deadly here in central Fla.Great worm to fish by vertical cover and relatively cheap costwise.Mfg in Sanford,Fla.
  7. www.huddlestondeluxe.com This is where you order, and the shipping is very fast.
  8. Try the Huddlesston shad, they actually work for normal size to large fish.Just fish them slow,a great starter swimbait.
  9. Avid, you said the couple hundred dollar range. With that in mind,I would opt for the Daiwa sol or Shimano twinpower. Both are excellent in form and function.I fish a twinpower most of the time and I have three stradics and a PTi30.The twinpower blows them away.
  10. Falcon, give me a shout before you come down,asIam sure I can help. The rest of you guys, thank you.
  11. A few months ago my coputer went to computer heaven.I got another and couldnt log in again. My good friend Badhabit came by and helped me get back on.I never posted a lot but love this forum. If youre ever around Orlando and need info or a fishing partner give me a shout.
  12. George Welcome just told you more about shiner fishing in a few short paragraphs than most people know.Well worth paying attention to no matter the weather.Kudos George!
  13. Apparently, you have never heard of the late Lj Brasher.I read of his exploits years ago about night fishing with musky jitterbugs.I have a twelve lber on my wall with the one that caught him in his mouth. Before you panic about catch and release,I caught this fish twenty years ago.Anyhoo, google the name and read the second article.I did after seeing this thread. The man caught hundreds of ten plus in his day.Enjoy the article.
  14. One of my best investmehts this past year was a pair of Native Eyewear sunglasses. They come with four sets of interchangeable lenses. They are the Nano2 style, with polarized brown, orange ,yellow, and clear crystal. Two of the colors really brighten light during dark or overcast conditions and the polarized are great.I always wear them when fishing as I have set the hook and missed, hitting my partner in the eye with the epitome of a bullet weight.Great advice Fish.
  15. Fish, Enjoy the opportunities you have while you can. When I lived in Tennessee,I fished a lot for stripers, musky, walleye, sauger, trout, catfish, and of course lagemouth ,smallmouth, and spotted bass. When I moved to Florida, the big bass addiction took over even though saltwater here is fantastic.Im personally glad so many of this states better anglers are saltwater addicts. There are more lakes in this state with big bass in them than any where else.If I could only live long enough to fish them all! Good Luck, Tennsopher
  16. I agree with what George Welcome said. When I had my bassboat, most of my big fish came from the Butler chain,Clermont chain, and the Kissimmee chain.I now fish out of a small boat and target smaller lakes.I still catch a lot of good fish as we are blessed here to have a lot of lakes.Still, the key is intimate knowledge of your particular body of water youre fishing.
  17. Im a student of the game. After 40 yrs I find Im still learning, and smiling each time something new works for me.
  18. When I lived in Tennessee,I used to keep notebooks with the fishing reports cut out from the sportspage.I also clipped the weather reports for that time frame from the paper. This information is sometimes after the fact, but by keeping a record of it,you can flip to it the next year and be ahead of the game.I also kept my own log,but wanted to know who was catching what and from where. The information in the paper is usually of the bigger catches. This proved to be very valuable to me and was simple to do.
  19. I started bass fishing in 1967 at the age of 10.My grandpa was a local legend fishing and hunting wise but we were never close.Istill heard all of the stories from kin etc.Funny thing I was the only grandchild to follow the love of the outdoors.I grew up on the Emory river in Tennessee fishing multi-species,but was fascinated by bass.At age 50 Istill am.
  20. Try to learn how to twist the baloons to different shapes,i.e. frogs ,.fish and crayfish .
  21. Hale, Have you ever been to lake Jessup? You couldnt pay me to night fish that lake.If you cross the 417 bridge when the waters calm its easy to spot a dozen on a hot day.
  22. I carry a snake slayer made by Bond arms.It shoots 410. shotgun shells and 45. long colt.It is a derringer made in Texas.Like the man said, here in Florida,we have some interesting critters. There have been two bad gator attacks this year, one I know of causing a fatality. They can get nasty during mating season and several are larger than the boat I fish from.Like has been said,be aware of your environment and learn some about the critters that inhabit it.
  23. I know youll probably laugh, but try a flying lure in chartruese. It skips well and falls away from you on slack line. This alows you to fish way under the dock and keep the bait in the strike zone longer. The color choice is for visibility reasons as docks are shaded. As I have said before baits are tools, try and use the best tools for the job youre trying to do.
  24. Ouachita, If you ever come to Orlando on vacation ,give me a shout.I fish the same boat as Lightning Rods ,small but effective.I can take you to twenty different lakes with a shot at a hawg within thirty minutes or less of me.Try that anywhere else in the country.Ive been bass fishing for forty years,23 in Florida. The offer stands whenever. Good fishing Tennsopher
  25. Ive been fortunate enough to observe large bass in clear water near bluegills and other bait.Something Ive noticed is that big bass occasionally come in from the deeper water into coves etc.and swim in close proximity to the bait. There is no panic in the baits attitude. Then the bass will exhibit a strange behavior and start flexing their jaws as if stretching, the bait starts becoming scarce, and in these clear waters ,thats when my shiner will get blasted.I only get to fish once a week usually when I go, but I fish at least 8 to 10 hrs solid in trophy waters. That will put you in touch with a feeding cycle of the big girls.
