  1. I fish the Bitter's naked swimmer along with the big e-z with great success. The Bitter's bait is the same as the r.i.skinny dipper only much cheaper. Two pkg for 5 dollars.5 baits in each.Yes you can find them online.Google Bitter's bait &tackle
  2. I live in Orlando and am quite familiar with the Winter Park chain &Johns Lake (my favorites).give me a shout out and maybe we can hook up.
  3. Several years ago I used to frequent Forest City and Millers Bait &Tackle. They always posted pictures of big bass on the walls. One guy that always was posted was a man named Theron Houston I was curious about how he was catching so many large bass.Glenn McNeely whom I knew well at the time, was their bass expert. He told me that Theron always fished at night and would load up black plastic worms 12" or larger and fill them up with several rattles. It works!
  4. Merry Christmas to one and all.Hope your wishes come true this year!
  5. I used to live in Rockwood,Tenn. which is on the shores of Watts Bar.As far as squarebills go,you can't beat the Bagley's small fry series cranks if you can find them.I used to catch many bass and some big ones on the shad &crawdad in this series. Also,Rapala fat raps were killer (silver /black).If you are determined to fish Lucky Craft check Tackle Warehouse on line.I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.
  6. Back in the sixties and seventies guides used to take clients out in their ladder boats. Fishing in Ocala forest lakes which were very clear at that time, and would guarantee 10lb fish. They would spot them on beds then take a large shiner,a three way swivel, and a heavy sinker and put the shiner in the nest. The shiner could only swim in circles, until the bass would eat it from irritation. They practically decimated the large bass population in the forest lakes. That my friends,is not what I call sport.Even today most guides take their clients shiner fishing, and can promise larger fish than northern anglers are used to catching.Shiners are very expensive and are included in guide fees.I salute those ethical fishermen that try to fool the big ones on artificials that takes skill and knowledge.Peace out.
  7. Eric I have been busy lately is why I haven't bee in touch.I'm free to go Sunday if you want to.Text me and I'll be in touch .Haven't had much time to check the forum lately.Wayne
  8. I just received my copy of BASSMASTER magazine and saw where he had passed. My uncle Marshall Ferguson worked with him years ago on the railroad. He' s also deceased but I still remember him telling me how good Harold was at bass fishIng.At the time we lived in Oakdale, Tenn. on the banks of the Emory river. This was where I developed my fishing addiction lol.Harold'.s wife was from there.Though I never met him personally he lives on through my uncles stories. The bassing world has lost another great.R.I.P.

  9. Eric,if you can find a copy of BASS MASTER Sept/Oct.2008.Read the article by Dave Precht editor in chief on last page 96.Itis about a guy named Jeffrey Smith who fishes central Fla.for big bass.He has caught fish over 18 lbs down here.(would be state record)But he turns all back alive. To have a fish verified you basically have to kill it to have an official come and verify the fish.I have been fishing for trophies down here since 1982.I have personally seen two fish one of 18lbs and one 17 back in 1980's.I know the guy that caught the 18 and the lake it came from. Two guys later found it floating in a lake it was released in and made up a story how the caught her. This was later debunked ,but the fish was mounted and made the rounds at some tackle stores.Millers bait&tackle on Forest City road was where I first saw her.I have a picture on my i-phone of a 17lber caught by my old boss last year in a local lake here in Orlando. It was caught last year and he passed away a month ago.I moved to Fla in the hopes of finding work and the opportunity to catch big bass. So far I feel I have been blessed to have done both and to have met some great people along the way.Good luck on your quest and God bless you.Wayne
  10. Which stella would be newer 10 bearing or 13 bearing? Also, dual handle vs single.Anybody with experience care to answer?
  11. I've met Bill Dance a couple of times. He is just as personable as he is on his show. What I don't understand is how many of you guys are quick to point out the private lakes he fishes. The man is one of the greatest anglers to have ever held a fishing rod. Many years ago he used to do his shows on public waters. With the advent of his fame,he had to forego tournament angling to devote time to his show. What about the shows that are done on northern lakes with no boat traffic?Pay attention to the techniques and not the product hawking. You might just learn something.
  12. deep, I want to thank you for posting that video.I recently underwent my second surgery (torn rotator cuff)and haven't had much to brighten my spirits lately. When I watched it I almost peed my pants.Thank you.
  13. I finally tracked down the worm bag I posted about. It is Leonard Watson's soft pac.If anybody knows where I can find one give me a shout.Thanks.
  14. The best one I have ever seen was one I bought in the 80's.It has 16 large pockets and 4 small ones that can fit jigs or terminal tackle i.e.hooks sinkers etc.The pockets are clear plastic and zippered with each large one capable of holding 2-3 packs of worms. It folds up to18x8 and has a carrying handle. The outside is canvas material. What made me post this was I have been looking to replace it with another one.The only marking is a tag that says:LL WATSON CO. PO BOX 78652 Saginaw, Tx 76179.If any of you guys can google this company and get better results than I did please contact me. I would post a picture of it but I don't know how to do so at this time.Thankyou for all replies.
  15. I haven't fished Big Sand Lake in years but chitura was right on when he said to fish it.Clear water ,lots of grass patches and good depth combined with a great population of wild golden shiners. Also make it a point to go with Lee.When I first moved here some thirty years ago I got to know a couple of guides who fished tourneys and their insight to fishing in Florida was a great help to me.
  16. Dobyns 734 and Shimano metanium,15lb seagar invisix 4/0 trokar weights vary.
  17. I actually had that reel at one time the shark add sold me lol.As I remember it was built like a tank and casted about the same.My first baitcaster was a pflueger supreme that had toothpaste put in the gears and hooked to a power drill to smooth them out.Anybody remember that trick?I later bought my own first free spooler a red abu 5000a.First low profile was Daiwa sm2a hawked at that time by none other than Bill Dance.Time flies.
  18. Lots of good advise on here.Pay special attention to the video and notice that Glenn has the reel handles pointing vertically at the beginning of his cast.Try to think of it as turning a door knob as you cast.Start the cast with reel handles up and end with reel handles facing horizontal.I got my first baitcaster when I was 13yro (red 5000 ambassadeur) and had no one to teach me so I feel your frustration.I am 60 now and have never regretted learning to cast one and I believe neither will you.Good luck and sooner or later you will understand what is meant by "educated thumb".
  19. Look on e-bay for 580g I bought a pair (tortoise shell frame 580g green glass)last year for $130.00.This is my second pair and quite a bit cheaper than I paid for my first pair.Your eyes will thank you years from now!And yes they came as described, couldn't tell from new.
  20. I have caught numbers of bass between 7to10lbs on the lucky craft lvrd10 in American shad. For numbers though, the blue&silver rattle trap is hard to beat.I have aruku shads, cordell spots ,red eyes, etc.Just my 2 cents.
  21. I bought Costa580g about two years ago .Have owned several high end sunglasses but nothing compares.Lifetime warranty keeps the worries away.
  22. I recently sent a reel to Mike @ DVT.I wanted to upgrade a metanium I've had for quite a while. It came back supertuned with upgraded drag washers.I couldn't be happier. Thanks Mike,I will be sending more in the future!
  23. The last JDM reel I bought was from Ichiban Tackle no problems with transaction.
  24. I have a bc1100 uglystick I bought around 1981 to fish for stripers with in Tenn when I lived there.I was young and financially challenged having just ets from the army.It was a flipping stick and I caught stripes on it to 30#.I presently have about 30 outfits gloomis, gblanks, shimano, dobyns, etc. But I still to this day use the ugly stick for shiner and catfishing. It is paired with a daiwa luna 300.It is a beast of an outfit to this day.
  25. 9.5 on recon worm junebug
