    Lubrication?

When it comes to oils and cleaners, i dont see many opinions on what is the best and what is junk. I use Remington, but is that any better or worse than say, Smith & Wesson brand? My brother in law uses the cheap wal mart stuff and i always feel like hes ruining his guns. I guess my question is, what is the best and what is junk?

    Can't Decide

I have a WASR-10 AK and i love it. Its cheaper to buy, cheaper ammo, and funner to shoot than my AR IMHO. It came with a Tapco T6 adjustable stock. The only thing i did was install a pistol grip, a Tapco muzzle brake, and a Tapco butt pad. I can get 20 rounds of Russian Tulamo for under $5. I have several 48 round mags, and 6 30 round mags. Even with the cheap ammo and iron sights, its still surprisingly accurate, and i am far from a marksmen. My brother in law and one of my buddies i shoot with have ARs. When we are shooting, they always want to shoot my AK. My only negative with the WASR is the d**n dust cover is a pain to get back on after you take it off to clean. Iv done some filing, and thats helped a little.
  5. I have been interested in the .40 version. I will end up purchasing it in the near future. When i order it i am also going to order the aluminem forend with the picatinny rail. Im gonna install a light and laser and it will be my under bed gun. I am going to sell my Mossberg 500 tactical that is currently under my bed. The reason i want the Sub is because i shoot A LOT, and the shotgun just doesnt get used. At least with the Sub i can have my fun and still feel confident using it as a home defense weapon that I will most likely never have to use. My only drawback is it is an ugly gun lol
  6. I just posted a picture i had from a few years ago. I couldnt figure out how to get one of my facebook pictures on there. It would only let me upload a picture of one i had saved on my desktop. The bass i posted was on of my more memorable ones though. I was in Wisconsin and it was raining pretty hard and the temperature was about 35 degrees.

    Swim Jigs

grub, or a zoom paddle tail luke.
  8. I use a crossbreed for my Taurus PT140 pro. Its my first holster and i am very pleased with it so far. We cant conceal carry in Illinois, so it really only gets used when im on my property.
  9. My buddy loves the "top prop" for bass an northern up north. He bought the turbo toad as a similar bait. He hates it. Thats all i know about either lures. If you want a topwater that will catch fish and weedless, grab some rage toads, rage shads, and rage eeliminators.
  10. When i take my yak on the small river to smallie fish i mostly just use grubs. I like to use grubs because you cant fish it wrong, and theres something while kayaking that i dont have time to work a jig slowly or work a Sammy.
  11. I have only held the rage rods in the store, but i have 4 Ducketts and i LOVE them. I havent had any issues at all. I would give you this advice though, check out a Carbon Lite rod. Its just as sensitive and light as the Duckett and cheaper.
  12. I refuse to kill a bass. Having said that, id suggest a few freezer bags with ice in them in a back pack. Then throw the fish in the freezer bags. Just be prepared when the bags melt that you have ice water drip down your back. I know this from when i keep water bottles cold when i wade a small stream on 100 degree days
  13. I river fish a few times a year so iv hooked some stuff. A little kids bike, lawn chair, old pull tab Old Style can, a shoe (best fight ever), a cat fish rod and reel with catfish attached.
  14. Mattlures ultimate gill, white rage craw, white zoom lizard. I like white because i can see the bait in the water easier than a brown or black bait. Where i fish, most of the beds are in 15 feet of clear water, so the white helps me track the bait.
  15. I like the shadalicious swimbaits by strike king, also the Castaic swim Jerky J.
  16. that gray and blue one is amazing. That is one good looking stick.
  17. I started tying my own jigs but didnt want to deal with melting lead and making my own heads. I started off buying painted heads from bass pro and then i just ended up ordering a bunch of heads from Cadman. That way i can keep cost down and all i have to do is paint the head, tie on skirt, and glue in weedguard. I havent broke down the cost per jig, but its pricey. I have about 150 jigs that i tied this winter that i havent been able to use due to ice. Id say with heads, paint, and skirts I have about $400 invested. I have found that skirts are what costs me the most. I go on to fishingskirts.com to get a few skirts, and next thing you know I have $75 worth of skirts. My advice would be to purchase a few heads from Cadman, some powder paint, order a small amount skirting material in your favorite colors and start from there. You will know instantly if its something you want to invest in. If you plan on wire tying, a fly tying vise would be needed. It is very addicting though.
  18. Agreed on the coffee scent. Chompers is terrible, pretty much why i dont fish chompers. I dipped a few paddle tails in Spike It garlic scent the other day and hung them up to dry. Came home and went downstairs and the whole basement smelled like garlic. Ill never make that mistake again.
  19. Your job sucks
  20. I havent got a line wet in 2012 yet. We had unsafe ice this winter so i couldnt ice fish. We have open water now but its been really cold and windy since ice out. Hopefully in the next couple weeks i can wet a line, even if its just the local stream.
  21. My runner came off once, and i only had one bolt in the truck. So to tighten the runner down I just took some 50 lb power pro off my Revo and tied the runner back on. It actually stayed like that up until winter came. Now i have 2 new runners waiting to get put on whenever the weather gets better. BTW, that guy was an A HOLE
  22. I annoy myself sometimes as well. I get flustered easily, whether it be the heat, the wind, the lack of catching good size bass. Sometimes i am my own worst fishing partner. The minute the weather gets hot, i feel like i start fishing really fast and start running and gunning.
  23. Nice looking rods gentlemen
  24. I havent gone on there site in forever, the frogs i have look like toys. I could see that they might work, but i dont know how to work them and have no confidence in them.
  25. I have had luck throwing a redeye with a yo-yo pattern, last year during ice out i did decent on a flutter spoon as well. My biggest problem in ice out is finding the bass.
