  1. I had a 2002 tracker pro crappie since i was 16 and in high school. I mainly fished bluegills and crappies. I am now 29 and am a full blown bass fishermen. My gear outgrew my boat. I recently got married in december of 2011 and really wanted to get a glass boat. It just so happened my local marina had a traded in 2000 Ranger with a 150 on it for 10 grand. I negotiated to have them install 2 597 CI HD Di units and new seats. I got the whole package for 11 grand out the door total. The ranger is in wayyy better condition than my tracker. At first i was worried about the payments, but we paid off all of our auto loans. So we just have a mortgage and utilities, and we are not having kids. So its a small amount of money for a lot of fun and comfort.
  2. you need game. My wife was a ritzy upper class lady. Every guy who tried to date her would take her to dinner and wine and dine her. I simply asked her if she wanted to go boating with me. That included fishing, she had never done it before and it broke the ice. No awkward dinner talk or anything, just good old fishing and a few beers and laughter.
  3. nice rig 3dees. is that a 90 on that tin. I bet that thing hauls.
  4. if you have any of those foam ear plugs laying around. Take one and put it where the cord rubs on the trolling motor base, then take some black electrical tape and take it in place. Works for me and you cant even tell its there.
  5. find a hot female, ask her to go fishing. You show up with a hottie. GAME OVER
  6. do what i did on my previous boat. I went to my local marina and told the guy that if anyone comes in wanting to upgrade there electronics and want to get rid of there old one to contact me. I had a guy call who sold me a eagle gps/fish finder unit for $50. He said it came with the boat and wanted a Side Imaging unit.
  7. I absolutely love my Premier, i have no comment on the Patriarch since i have never used one or held one. But i can tell you that if you get the Premier, you wont be dissapointed.
  8. that eye candy inside the magazine has caused me to start selling some guns. I see 4 new Revo Ss in my future.
  9. i use whatever technique is working on that specific day. Whether it be dragging, hopping,or pulling fast and killing it trying to imitate a feeling craw,or you can dead stick it. I always say there is no wrong way to fish a plastic. I have found techniques that work by accident. One time i threw out my lizard on a weed edge, i had a backlash of all backlashes. I picked it out for a few minutes, i took 2 turns of the reel and the lizard got whacked. The rest of the day i reeled the reel a few turns, then killed it for 5-10 seconds, and it was deadly. I now try that method with rage craws and other baits, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. I like to take a rage craw and dip the claws it chart dye and slow roll it through the weeds and it has came through for me time after time.
  10. i have found that using the oven before paint takes more time and make the head to hot. I just use a lighter and heat for 6 to 10 seconds. I have never had a problem.
  11. i have Humminbird 597s at the console and up front. You can use whatever you want. Like Rhino said, go with what your comfortable with. When i bought my boat last week the guy tried to talk me out of the 597s, but its a unit i trust and know.
  12. im just going by the picture you showed. The first bait that popped into my head is a ribbit frog or rage toad.
  13. i want to hook into a monster alligator gar.
  14. Go to your local car parts store and grab some leather cleaner. Not a protectant like Armor All, but a cleaner. Then buy a stiff bristled brush, they make them specifically for car interiors. Let the cleaner sit on the stain for a few seconds, then brush and scrub away. Then after you get everything clean, wipe on a protectant like armor all or other protectant.
  15. im sorry for your loss. I had a Pop R fly out of my boat. I have got the same color pop r, but like you said. Its just not the same.
  16. for 6 grand and under your looking at aluminum. Id say to look for a used Lowe or tracker with a 40. Just make sure the hull is in decent shape and have a outboard tech look at the outboard and check the compression.
  17. I bought a Navionics platinum chip today and downloaded the free PC app to view maps. Everything works just fine until i get to the "sign in" page where it asks for my email and password. Everytime i submit my email and password it says it cannot detect it. Is it really not free and they annoy you enough to buy the app? I dont see anywhere on the site to register your email or anything. I am beyond frustrated. I can see all the maps on my computer but it wont let me open them. This thing cost me $200 and so far i feel i wasted my money.
  18. i agree with the swimbait. I have fished a strip pit 2 days a week for about 9 years. My #1 producer is a blue shad shadalicious swimbait. As mentioned above, it has to be natural. I have lost count how many times a big bass has followed my bait all the way to the boat. If there is any vegetation, throw a Strike king caffeine shad in the vegetation. It has been deadly for me lately. The little bait fish are in the weeds and the bass are hammering them. A mattlures bluegill swimbait is a big fish bait that i use. It doesnt always get bit, but when it does, its a beast.
  19. I bought my first bass boat a few days ago. Its a 2000 Ranger in good condition. I used to have a show car that i polished and cleaned on a daily basis with Zaino. So i am very specific when it comes to cleaning and taking care of my possesions. This is my first glass boat, so i wanted the best product i could get to keep it looking good. After much internet searching and looking on this site, i came to the conclusion that Bow to Stern was the product i needed. When i got my boat, the feel of the paint felt rough and looked cloudy. I had placed an order for BTS the day i bought the boat. I spent about an hour on the boat using the BTS boat wash, then 2 coats of the protector, then a final wipe down of the cleaner. All i can say is WOW, i am more than impressed. The feel of the paint is sooooooo much smoother than when i bought it. If anyone out there is like me and very particular on the stuff they put on there possesions. Dont hesitate one second to get this product. HUGE thumbs up. I will post pics soon in the "show your ride" topic.
  20. i am jealous
  21. anything rage, but im a big fan of swimbaits.
  22. iv been using the VMC Spinshot since they came out and i have not had a single problem. I have actually been more than impressed.
  23. i agree with the large magnet. My buddy lost his expensive combo on a big reservoir. He marked the spot on his GPS as soon as it went overboard (quick thinking). He went back the next day with a 5 inch round magnet and got it back within a half hour of searching. Whenever he takes it out to use we call his combo "lucky."
  24. i have 2 Humminbird 597 CI HD DIs and i love them. You can get one now for $600. Once you get down imaging you will wonder how you ever fished without it. It is definately worth the extra money.
  25. no warranty and i had to finance it. The previous owner was a outboard mechanic and kept the outboard in great running condition.
