  1. What I did was start small. Got a pack of the small Castaic swimming Jerky Js. I got confidence in them and then upgraded my size. Now I throw the big Shadalicous quite frequently with success. One of my favorite things to do is leave the Ranger and all my gear at home. Ill take out the kayak and my swimbait setup and a few extra baits and hooks. Just throw swimbaits the whole time. I have skunked out, but it seems a lot of my bigger fish came on those days where I just through the swimbait, Once you get confidence in it, it just comes natural. There is always some sort of swimbait tied on at all time. If I were you I would get a pack of 4.5 inch shadalicious swimbaits in blue gizzard shad. Find the vegetation and throw the heck out of it. You will get bit. The Huddleston weedless shad is another fish catching machine. Both of the baits I told you about will catch fish of all sizes and help you gain confidence in swimbaits. Then you can move on to bigger baits if you would like, but still have confidence.
  2. I was definitely shocked by Rojas' comments. I kept hearing him calling Alton garbage, a snake and unproffesional. I definitely don't think it was fake. I had a problem with Rojas not saying anything to Altons face when he passed him. He was yapping to the camera, but when he passed him he was quiet as a church mouse.
  3. ohhhh ok. How do you update the actual chip? Everytime I try it, it says it will close the program and nothing happens.
  4. wow, that is a nice boat. That thing will haul some major arse.
  5. i also use KVD conditioner. I spray it on when I spool. Then every morning before I head to the lake, ill give all my setups a good spray.
  6. That's what I meant, the online app that updates. The problem is the updates take forever. But it is fun, when im bored I just look over the lakes I will fish in the future and save waypoints.
  7. I suggest getting the Navionics chip. Just make sure the lakes you fish are on there. There's a free PC app that comes with it and you can go over the maps while in the comfort of your own home. You can mark waypoints and then transfer them to your SD card.
  8. is the action on par with a Shadalicious?
  9. Favorite-Green Pumpkin Rage Craw with the claws dipped in chartreuse Spike-It. 2. Eeliminator rigged weightless and worked as a topwater 3. Smokin Rooster- t rigged with a 4/0 EWG Trokar and a 1/8 oz weight. any color 4. Menace as a swim jig trailer 5. rage toad Big O, give us a Rage Tail Shadalicous type swim bait
  10. My Ranger has 4 storage compartments that I use for tackle. 2 of them are stuffed full of Rage products. One is strictly for Rage craws, the other one is for everything else. The only Rage product I haven't been impressed with is the Rage Hawg.
  11. how do you like the Havoc sick fish? I have a bunch of packs, but there's still ice on the lakes here.
  12. how do you work the UV speed worm? I have a pack of black/blue I got a few years ago and have yet to try them
  13. huddleston deluxe weedless shad. One of the best shad imitators out there. Its a fish catcher.
  14. Hes a Bears fan, so of course I like him.
  15. they make weights that insert into your tube. Then you just texas rig the hook through the weight. They make plain ones, and ones with rattles. That's your best bet.
  16. I have mine paired with a BPS Carbonlite. I have yet to fish with it, but it feels really good.
  17. wow, glad you are ok. I fell through the ice when I was 17. Luckily I was in the best physical shape of my life from playing sports. It was scary and the initial shock of hitting the water was overwhelming. I haven't gone in since, knock on wood.
  18. I always carry a 5 gallon bucket, and keep crapper paper and a few small garbage bags in my boat. If someone has to go, just put the bag over the bucket and let her rip. Then just wrap up the bag and throw in the livewell until we hit a garbage can. If the wife has to go #1, shell just go in the bucket and then just rinse it in the lake. One of the best #2 stories iv ever seen or heard was my brother in law. We were in the Dominican Republic on vacation. We were hanging out on the beach and had a few cocktails in us. All of a sudden my brother in law jumps up and says he had to "poop." The nearest bathroom was a good 5 minutes away and he didn't have the time. He ran into the crystal clear water and proceeded to do his business. It was one of the funniest things iv witnessed.
  19. I had intentions of purchasing this combo. The minute I picked it up I knew it wasn't for me. It was heavy and unbalanced. I felt like I was holding a big cat fishing combo. I felt the rod without the reel and it didn't feel too bad, but the reel just seems too big and overweight.
  20. smokin rooster sk shadalicious hack attack jig with rage craw trailer RI beaver on a 5/16oz Evolution shaky head Mattlures gill
  21. im also jealous. I was wanting to get the boat out before i head down south april 19 for a 4 day trip. But its not looking good. We got rain, snow, and now 30+ mph winds. On this day last year it was 76 degrees, it was 30 today. Illinois weather isnt fun.
  22. I have both. I give overall fishability to the Revo S. The SX is a good reel, it just seems to be a lot more finicky of a caster due to the mag brakes. I use it for 3/8 oz jigs mainly. So i dont have to adjust it all that often. Once it is adjusted to the right specs, its a good caster. Just not as forgiving as a lot of other reels i own. My only negative with the S is that its loud, and on my 4th outing i had a horrible grinding feel, and it sounded just as bad. I brought it home and gave it a bearing flush and a good cleaning. It was fine for a few outings and it happened again. I cleaned and lubed again and havent had a problem since. Seems like the more i use it the better it has gotten. The only reason i got the SX instead of another S was i wanted a 7.1:1 gear.
  23. you keep saying its not a great reel for $100, yet everyone on here who has one says its great. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better $200 reel.
  24. i would be up for killing every living thing in the river and then restocking. The stretch of river by me is called "the sauger capitol of the world." Host plenty of tourneys (cabelas tourney is there next weekend). So i understand that killing all ther walleye and sauger is not an option. But its gotten out of hand. We used to catch 100+ white bass in a few hours. I have caught 3 in the past 4 years. Thats sad IMHO. Starved Rock state park is 10 miles from me. Well hike to the top of the rock and as far as the eyes can see, you can see the pods of asian carp. Its reall crazy when you see a barge docking and revving his engines, the whole area becomes full of jumping carp.
  25. i use a baitcaster in my kayak and have no problems. I pry only take my kayak out 5 times a year, so i am definately not a professional. The hardest part for me is trying land a decent sized fish, as it pulls me around and into weeds and trees.
