  1. Gambler EZ and Big Ez. Florida Five O is a good all around color that will catch fish anywhere. Very versatile bait. My favorite way to fish it is swimming it on top like a buzz frog. If you're fishing vegetation, I like to buzz it across the top. Then if I don't get any strikes, I'll buzz it across the top and let it drop in little pockets, it's an awesome bait.
  2. I use Reins tungsten with a 6th sense punch stop. The Reins is smaller profile and has an insert that keeps the line from frayin. For a hook I use a snelled straight shank heavy cover flipping hook. Trokar or SK hack attack. This is the best setup I have found. Once I started using Reins weights, I sold all my Bass Pro and Strike king Tungsten. I prefer to use a punch skirt, but sometimes the fish just don't want that bigger profile. Also, the 6th sense punch stop is the best iv used. Some of my tourney non boaters have to use 3 or 4 bobber stops to keep there weights in place, I only need one 6th sense punch stop. They are on the pricier side for a stop, but they are worth it.
  3. I have 3 of their molds and also get my Calhouns plastisol from them. I have never had an issue with anything I bought from them
  4. A guy in my club won the state tournament on a single tail grub. Now I have to dig them out of the dust and use them more often.
  5. I have success with the darter as a trailer on my smaller finesse jigs. Also had a good day on it when the bite was tough. Me and my non boater couldn't get much going. For the heck of it I T rigged it with a 1/32 oz weight and it was magical. Haven't had much luck doing that since, but it worked that time.
  6. River2Sea S Waver 168S. Party crasher, bluegill, and light trout are my favorite colors.
  7. I'm a Copperfield guy. Followed by Lane toad and Florida five 0
  8. I get mine from lurepartsonline.com
  9. Nice, what is that green rod. Looks like an Okuma
  10. Fishingskirts.com has boss heads I believe. IV tied them awhile ago.
  11. How did you get the round rubber into the bait?
  12. this is just awesome. If club rules allowed me, and I owned one of these, id totally fish a club tourney on one of our smaller waters with this thing.
  13. If time isn't a concern and im on a new body of water. I follow the steep contour lines and drop offs on my map. Look for any structure, irregularities, bait etc. If time is a concern, I basically just run points. I start deep and work my way in. Looking at my graph most of the time, looking for anything down there that would hold fish. The one thing I have learned since fishing schools and offshore once I got a boat was don't be discouraged by rough fish. When I first started fishing points and deep structure during a tournament, I would see bait and fish on my graph. Start fishing and catch drum. I would leave and figure the fish down there were drum. Then I watched a video on youtube, I cant remember what pro was doing the tutorial, but he said drum are good because bass feed and hang around with drum. So I spent more time on a spot where I was catching drum, it may have taken a few drum or an hour or 2 of fishing, but eventually id hook into some bass. Like any type of fishing, its about confidence. If you have no confidence fishing offshore, then your odds of being successful aren't good. I have confidence, so I can fish deep on points and drop-offs all day. But to a bank beater, its torture, they need to see the structure and work it. Its very intimidating, but once you catch fish and gain confidence, its a lot of fun. Good luck
  14. A family friend used to work at a bank. I was really into cars at the time. He called me and asked if I was interested in a 2004 Z06. I didn't even see the car, but figured id most likely gut it anyway and make it a track car. When he delivered it, it had a few minor body issues like scratches and door dings. The drivers seat had a small rip and the shifter boot was all tore up. Nothing I couldn't fix. I put a few dollars into it, did some engine work and a dyno tune, drove it for 2 years and sold it for a nice profit. That was my only experience.
  15. i loved my Recon, that was until I swung in a 12 inch bass and it snapped in half. It caught countless fish over 2 pounds, no problem. Then snapped on a dink. Since then, iv been loving my Kistler Carbon Steels.
  16. i have never fished a Lews, but I own a Tatula. It casts like a dream, very very smooth, feels very solid. THe one negative I have is its a bigger profile. I don't so much care about the weight, but going from Gen 3 Revos and picking up a Tatula to fish, your hand feels the difference. Its pry not as noticeable to someone with bigger hands, but I have small hands so it stands out. Im pretty sure if I had all Tatulas it wouldn't be as noticeable, but if you have ever fished a Gen 3 Revo, you know how small it feels.
  17. TZX195 is the model. I got a Humminbird 899, a keel guard and a Sony stereo. None of it is installed yet, I'm waiting to get another humminbird for the bow, and will just have it all done at once.
  18. i believe sticker price was $36,999
  19. my Ranger was a consistent 57 mph boat, it was saw 60 a few times with no load and no chop. But the ride is no comparison, the skeeter blows it away. The Ranger was a more stable fishing platform though. Im only 31 so I want the speed and agility. When I get in my older years, ill pry get another Ranger.
  20. 175 HPDI. It saw 66 mph on a 60 degree morning on glass water with no tackle or gear. Just me. Still breaking in as we speak, but its a consistent 63 mph boat. Once its broke in I will start tweeking the jack plate height. I would think once I get the motor height in the sweet spot, it will be a consistent 65 mph boat. Maybe see 68 on a cold morning with no chop, but that's pushing it. I may only see 68 with no weight at the bow. Right now it has 20 rods and reels, and a good 200 lbs of tackle at the bow.
  21. I was actually looking at new Rangers, but the price point was a lot higher than this skeeter. Basically an 18 foot Ranger with a 150 and the electronics I wanted, I couldn't find anything under 46 thousand. I got more boat, more motor for 16 grand less. I do miss fishing out of my Ranger, but the skeeter is a much better ride in rougher water and is faster, has more storage space, and is much lighter. The Skeeters fit and finish isn't up to par with Ranger quality, but not much is. This is my first Yamaha, and i love it so far. So much quieter than the Mercury, but it does suck the gas.
  22. 30 out the door. that was with trade in and few things I wanted on the boat. Keel guard, electronics etc.
  23. only had it a month.
  24. traded it in on this. Actually the guy who sold me the Skeeter ended up buying my Ranger.
  25. 2014 Skeeter TZX. I love it so far.
