  1. True statement, anyone with a little knowledge of bass pro knows their speed shad is made by keitech, fluorocarbon made by seaguar and their swim jigs made by strike king. The Johnny morris reels are made by Lews.
  2. wow, nice work. almost too pretty to throw
  3. I find that my Talon is priceless for how i fish. The waters i fish a lot are the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Im usually fishing specific spots in current, a lot of times im tucked behind barges, and barge tie offs with current. Very hard to effectively fish if youre constantly on the trolling motor. I did it for years, and the first time out with the Talon i hated myself for not getting one sooner. I also fish several deep strip pits that my Talon is useless other than docking and what not. I bought my Talon used for $800. You can usually find good deals on used talons or power poles. Power poles seem to be a tad bit more expensive as far as used pricing goes.
  4. I have never cared what my non boaters are using. A few times they turned me on to a bite on a bait that I never would have thrown. I care more about them casting in front of me or them constantly snagging a piece of cover that I am fishing. One time I was on a swim jig bite and was covering water at a quick pace, my non boater got mad that I wasn't slowing down so he could flip cover. That was the only time I ever told a non boater he better switch techniques. Most of them understand what the boater is doing and adapt. If you are truly concerned with making him mad, just ask.
  5. I have a tough time with hard jerkbaits.
  6. I also got my first of 2017. ended up catching 6 total. all on a finesse jig. water temp was 37 degrees
  7. 24 Volt TM. Also a power pole or Talon. One will be suffice, two will be better. If I had to choose between my electronics or my Talon. I'd take my Talon, it's priceless.
  8. 702 craw mold from BTS. I also shoot also shoot a lot of finesse worms and brush hogs. but the 702 craw is what I make and use the most.
  9. I have injection molds and make my own baits. so I try and recycle my used baits. Ones I don't recycle keep and the Illinois Bass Nation has a recycle contest for the bass clubs. so I usually have a couple freezer bags full of plastics to donate for the contest for my club.
  10. Irod Genesis II Bubs punch rod. Great punching rod, and I have flipped as low as 1/2 Oz jigs with it.
  11. Irod Genesis II Bubs punch rod. It is the best punching rod I have ever used. I have also punched with Kistlers, Fitzgeralds, Halos, and the Irod is my favorite.
  12. IV only fished michigan once, last year on a family trip to Traverse last year. Caught my fair share of 2-4 lbers. this was my biggest of the trip and was happy to catch it.
  13. I was at the show Sunday. I saw Seth Feider in the parking lot on my way in and I asked him a couple questions on tube fishing, great guy. Only spent $40 on brovarney jigs and some tubes from RTM Tackle. Almost pulled the trigger on a Bull shad, but decided against it. I also didn't see any deals that blew me away. Mr Brovarney gave me a free swim jig, so that's always a plus. It was a good place to be if you're looking for resort ideas though.
  14. finesse jig and swimbaits are my go to clear water baits. a 4 inch finesse worm in green pumpkin is also tough to beat.
  15. big heavy football jigs I used 3 tabs, lighter flipping jigs I use 2 tabs and maybe a couple strands of an accent color. Punch skirts I usually do 1 and a half tabs.
  16. Carolina rig and jig trailer are my favorite ways.
  17. I used to make my own skirts, but now I usually just buy pre made skirts from Seibert. As far as cost effective, nothe quite sure. I do find that buying the unpainted heads and skirts separate tend to save me around $1- $1.50 per jig. I can basically build my own Hack Attack jig for much cheaper than buying. I just have to pain it and install weed guard and skirt.
  18. work a weightless big EZ on top like a buzzbait across scattered vegetation. That's something a Huddleston can't do.
  19. gambler mega daddy
  20. Tough to beat a spook worked on top with busting fish near by. I also like skipping jigs and tubes at docks. My favorite way to catch them is punching mats.
  21. Lews custom speed spool MSB, Curado, Tatula R, will all be work horses and give you what you want. I was an Abu guy for a long time, but every Gen 3 I own besides my MGX, I hate.
  22. for me, it's a Gambler BB Cricket. When asked what I was punching. I just simply say "a small creature bait, nothing special."
  23. paper club is when you have a sheet with inches and weight. You measure the fish and immediately release. Then rite down the length of fish. Then see what the weight is for your length fish and write it down. The weight is already predetermined next to the length.

I got 580Gs and love them. I suggest going through the big auction sight. I got mine for around $160
  25. go this route. 3 years ago I figured I was a decent angler, then when I joined the club I realized how much I needed to learn. 3 years later and I can say I'm a much better angler. I can get put on any body of water and break it down much much easier than I used to.
