  1. There's a lot more cost in running a site this big than what you think man. Plus, these ads probably pay next to nothing (the ad's on my site only bring in like 1 to 5 cents per click) Google ads doesn't pay well at all... Glenn and the other mods put a lot of time and dedication into making this site what it is today, so the ads are a tiny price to pay for their work!
  2. I haven't touched a video game in awhile. Developers are either getting lazy or publishers are putting crazy time constraints on them. Nothing has come out in the last year or more that I even felt like playing. I'll probably try Gears of War 3 when it comes out, then give up on my consoles Good review though, should put that in a magazine. Better than anything Game Informer ever said about a game. They try too hard to be funny and it kills their reviews.
  3. Some of you may not think he is important, but you know what they say "cut off the head to kill the snake"... I don't think we will EVER completely destroy their terror organization, but it shows them that we will not give up!
  4. x2 on String Jam's suggestion - If you want to run PS, and you can afford them, i5's are the way to go. I run PS here at work on a Pentium 4 (single core) 3.0GHz and only 2 Gigs of RAM. It works... but man is it slow! That laptop you mentioned will work great with PS though. The only time I run into trouble is when I'm designing large print projects... I did a 6"x3" banner at 300dpi, it took my computer 25 minutes to do a simple rotation of an image LOL The PS file was over 10 Gigs when I was done... Never again will I do that on this work pc!
  5. Look at NewEgg.com or TigerDirect.com for good laptop deals. I buy all my computer parts from both these places. That listing is removed so I don't know the specs, but Asus, Acer and HP are all PC's I like (yes I said HP). What do you want to do with your pc? Just using it for the web and basic word processing? Just about anything will work. If you want to get into graphics and that kind of stuff? Look for something strong like a Quad core CPU, at least 4GB of RAM and at minimum a 320GB hard drive.
  6. Its covered in my moaner stickers That thing tracks great for how wide it is, I was really surprised. The only negative I have to say about the width is it brings more water into the boat from the paddle.
  7. Great lake, it's small but packed with fish. It's a great 'training' lake because it has many different types of environments. One sides grass flats with steep drops, then you have the point and timber, pads, rocks at the dam... it's all compact into a nice little area too.
  8. Finally got to take the NuCanoe out this year! Took my little brother Owen along with me (he's 8). We only got to fish for about an hour until a storm came through and pushed us off the lake, but as soon as I got everything packed up, the storm cleared I didn't do much fishing because I was teaching him how to cast a spinning reel, but he caught a nice sized pickerel on a Tabu Whiptail Worm in Green Pumpkin. Video of that will be coming soon I saw some decent bass on beds, but didn't cast to them (I don't like bed fishing very much and usually only do it if the bass is a biggin'). If that's your thing though, they are all over on the flats by the dam, all the way across to the old boat launch. I'll probably go back up sometime this week and see if I can get a good jig bite. Here's a still from the video. That worm is 4 inches, so I'm guessing the fish was around 15...
  9. Good call Dave. We could make a business out of this BASS - Yes, they do warm up. You'd be surprised how hard it is to make that death metal scream. The GOOD metal bands actually have a method and aren't just randomly screaming into the mic. You need to warm up your vocal cords so they don't give out from all that screaming.
  10. That round point: http://goo.gl/maps/OqnL The spot I was talking about is at the top of that 'cove' after the 'marina'. The road crosses there and there's some bass boxes in that area. http://goo.gl/maps/BKfM
  11. What part of it? Looks fine to me, but I didn't listen to it.
  12. Try and use an existing one as reference. The line tie position is very important to the action, as well as head angle and width. Most lipless cracks I have taken apart are stuffed with weight all in the nose or between the eyes.
  13. Cut him some slack man. This is a fishing forum, not a spelling bee. Also you need to show him even more respect, he gets shot at so you can come on here freely and make fun of anyone you want without consequence.
  14. LOL I wish I had the Columbo eye I miss that show ghoti I had a whole class on photoshop and "faking" stuff with it. It carried over into video too. There's a good book out called Photoshop Forensics, good read if you like that kinda stuff.
  15. That's fake. That 'lightning' you see hit him looks very similar to the 'default' lightning you can insert into videos with adobe premiere. ALSO, the whole screen flashes the same white (there would be varying shades with lightning and there's no specular highlights on anything when the lightning comes into frame AND the lightning isn't as grainy as the rest of the video. Good day!
  16. It's been my experience that IT 'professionals' that work for small time companies or small schools have to make themselves feel powerful (even useful) by implementing stupid systems and blocking things unnecessarily. I see people constantly taken advantage of by these types of people, simply because they put too much trust in the IT personnel they hire.
  17. My boss IS the owner of the business. I'm next in line under him (well sorta, there's another manager at the same level as me). You may not have allowed this, nor liked it, but were your employees sitting in front of a computer for most of their work day? Since a few of you seem to think all I do is sit at my PC and browse personal sites, let me give you an example of WHEN I am on here (like now): - Customer comes in and has a phone issue that I don't have power to fix. I call Customer Service, not some super secret dealer line, the same old customer service YOU'D call (so you know there's going to be a hold time). I wait on hold for 5 minutes (so I jump on BR while I wait). CS Rep comes on the line, I talk to them, get the phone fixed, wait for them to do whatever they do. All the while, I'm on here while I'm working. I get the issue fixed, go back out to the floor, give the customer the information and they leave. I go back to normal work functions and the BR tab gets pushed aside until I need to be on the phone again. - Time for my 15 minute break, I just stay at my desk and browse here and a few other places. - I run applications for our various service providers, while I wait for credit decisions, things to load/populate, etc... I have BR or something else open on my other monitor. So while I'm using personal sites at work... I'm 'working' or waiting for things to happen so I can continue working. Multi-tasking is key!
  18. Oh I agree with you there, you work there, you play by their rules.
  19. X2 on the beach area. Try the side opposite the small marina over the hill from the beach, there's bass boxes near there (by where the road crosses that big pipe).
  20. We live in a different world today. I use a pc, cell phone, the internet, etc... in 99% of my work day (for work). Taking a 15 minute break to browse is no different than anyone taking a smoke break. We encourage social media usage, especially if it involves the company or community activities. It's powerful advertising and it's another form of media consumption (like watching the news). If that doesn't sway your thoughts, I'm salaried and normally work well over 40 hours. A few minutes of slacking a day won't hurt.
  21. I was stuck that way for awhile... A good 2 months, the sun is out to kill
  22. I love how Sony pushes DRM and all that jazz, but can't even secure their users data. I heard that it wasn't even encrypted when they found it all.
  23. X2 my boss knows we need to have "personal" time at work. Keeps us all more motivated and refreshed. We work (well some of us) our butts off when it's time to get work done, so we get the breaks. I wouldn't be able to be on here or do any of my side jobs if this weren't the case! Oh and you can upload photos from your phone. Get Dolphin Browser HD, set the user agent to desktop and you'll get BR just like the PC version. Uploading and galleries work just fine on Android.
  24. Got burnt real bad on the river last year (8 hours in the sun is bad). I still have an area on my leg that's discolored from the burn. I have sunscreen in my tackle box and in all my vessels. Never will I burn again. I had it so bad one year I had to stay inside for a week. As soon as any sunlight hit me (even when it was cloudy) the pain was unbearable!
  25. AJay posted his view in the spawning swimbait thread in General and it was three times as long as that shot. it's just that long.... My posts I mean Edit... Wow I'm dumb, it's in this thread! It's been one of those days!
