  1. J that trash can really hits close to home.... They'll never get it back to the way it was before the quake.
  2. Yeap, threaten to cancel and they will give you the world.
  3. The only bass flies I tie are Woolly Buggers and Streamers. They are simple - I would start with that pattern to learn to tie. I have the White River Fly kit from BPS (I bought the trout one) the DVD that comes with it is awesome, you'll learn a lot from it. I was making woolly buggers, pheasant tail nymphs and hare's ear nymphs in about an hour (not the prettiest, but they work). The best part about fly tying is just taking random material and making up your own patterns. Fox tail makes GREAT streamers for smallies and they are simple to tie.
  4. Felt it pretty strong in Pa. Felt like my office was going to fall onto the road (Electric Ave.... Yeah, laugh it up, I work on the street in the song... I called the Electric Company one day and they had a hayday with it). Lasted about 15 seconds. Up next, Yellowstone eruption! muahahaha
  5. Get a real job hippie! No seriously, looks great!
  6. Ah, I see that now that I resized it to the full size... Looks vector-ish small
  7. I enjoy it... What did you use to do it? Looks like a vector drawing?
  8. Lots of people eat the giant goldfishies. Kinda has a similar taste to catfish, only a little more... I don't know... dirty? It's not that bad, but I probably won't be going after carp to eat unless I have too. I'm sure if you prepare it right it would be great.
  9. Neato Thanks J. I think I've seen some of them in a few of the small lakes/ponds around here, I'll have to see if I can snag a few.
  10. No sir, YOU'RE the best. Can we spoon?
  11. I've seen wooden lipless cranks made on other sites before, but I wouldn't start there. IMO lipless cranks look like they have more variables and points of failure then regular cranks. I've made a few poppers before and you can't really mess those up too bad, even if the 'lip' isn't right, you can still make them walk the dog, so you really aren't out anything. Another option may be to duplicate a Heddon Torpedo - those look like they'd be simple to make.
  12. I've been looking into getting a native aquarium started also. Was going to start small and get a bunch of native minnows and baitfish started to see how it goes (I think a stream tank would be awesome!). A small outdoor shop near me has a native tank with a couple crappie, bluegill and a little catfish of some sort (no idea what species, it's about 7 inches long), anyway, those bluegills are a messy bunch.
  13. I've only been on it a few times. Lots of pleasure boats and jet skis every time I'm there. Fishing is tough most of the time (so I've heard anyway). Most of your standard bass lures work, senkos, jigs, craws... I normally use dark colors for the best chance at a bite. Mainly because the lakes in Pa are usually stained
  14. The bait monkey!! I know what's up but ill never teeeeellllllllllllllll..... Ok ill tell... Glenn wants to save gas money, so you'll all be pulling and rowing his boat by hand! Congratulations!
  15. Kept having that problem at work. I set all the network printers with static ips to fix it. How much data do you need to backup? I use dropbox to save my files to a 'cloud'. Free accounts only give you 2GB of space, but I only use it to transfer files back from work and home (I always lose usb sticks lol)
  16. Go purchase an external hard drive enclosure (one for laptop drives - 2.5"), get the hard drive out of the old laptop and hook it up to the new laptop and see if you can get any files off. Sometimes after crashes, you may not be able to boot up a pc, but you still can get files off with another pc. The hard drive should come out from a door or something on the side, very easy to get out on a laptop. You can download your photobucket photos no problem, they will always be available, so no worries. Did you purchase songs from itunes or did you get them elsewhere? Songs you bought from itunes will carry over, ones you didn't won't. Just have to log in to itunes with your account and you'll have whatever you bought. Office is gone unless you have the cd or license keys. If you have the key, microsoft will usually send you a new cd or download link. Crashes aren't a matter of if, it's when. I backup my hard drives every week. I have an external USB hard drive that stores all my back ups. Windows 7 offers a back up system built in, so I just use that.
  17. Yeah I was even going to go Saturday but moved the trip to Sunday... Maybe next time! Can't believe you didn't get a pick... Those things are everywhere on that lake! Nice report on Canoe, hopefully the weeds will be at bay soon. A few tiny lakes around here look like a swamp because of low water and weeds.
  18. I was at Colyer on the 7th. All of our fish came on jigs with various craw style trailers (Rage craws and Paca craws mostly). I think we caught about 8 bass and I lost count of the pickerel. One pickerel decided to follow my jig out of the water and smashed it in mid air - that thing was huge, but I didn't get him hooked. Dodged about 4 or 5 rain spells, no lightning though. Probably going back this week, Colyer has been fishing great the past few weeks!
  19. Never had a problem with any Quantum product I have owned. Some people here hate their stuff, but I don't know why... Diawa hasn't been to bad either - same with the Pinnacle set up's my buddies have. I'd start out learning to cast with braided line. It tends to backlash less and it's also easier to pick out if you do backlash.
  20. Can't say this enough... I love my Quantum Bill Dance Select Baitcaster. $60 at BPS and the thing is a TANK.
  21. My kids are only 2 and 6 months, but I have brothers that are 19, 16 and 10. The 19 year old was TERRIBLE when he was 7. Have you tried completely ignoring the fact that he hid something? Everyone has to do it for it to work. When my brother would act out, we'd all just ignore him until he stopped and it usually worked. That's about the only idea I have... I can't wait until my boys get to those ages - as long as I don't have a stroke beforehand.
  22. Grubs will almost always catch smallies. Don't leave home without purple, black, white or green pumpkin. Rage craws and chunks are killer (nose hook the chunks or put them on a small jig). Stickbaits rock also, if the 5 and 6 inch aren't working, cut them in half, they work just as good.
  23. endless - check out Time2Fish Free... I use it and it's pretty good at pinning the major feeding times down. GrundleLove - My phone was HORRIBLE at getting my GPS coordinates, but since I got my Gingerbread update, it's been better (still slow though). The best app I had was called CreelCard... First, it's built by someone in the UK, so you have to edit the fish species, which takes forever on your phone. The lures it had was like worm, fly, maggots and something else... Ok, now you have to add all your lures in. Every time you caught a fish and took a photo of it, you have to first enter the details (depth, conditions, any notes), then you go to the next screen and pick the lure... Needs to be a simple - snap the photo, click as few times as possible (hopefully no typing) and move on. Would be cool if you could have a cloud based system that let you edit things online, so you didn't have to mess with your phone when you have to type a lot of items. Don't know how much you want to get into this though, cloud space isn't cheap
  24. I know a guide up in North East Pa that uses them. They seem to be pretty happy with them. I've never been on one myself though. The best advice I can give you is try out as many kayaks as you can before you make a decision. Find a local kayak shop in your area and see when they are having a demo day or something similar. You'll find people that love and hate each brand, so the only real feedback you can use is your own personal experiences with a brand. I've been on Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayaks and NuCanoes (Currently own a NuCanoe). All are great boats. If it were me, I'd get the longest boat I could afford and easily move around. 10 ft. might be a little too small depending on what size you are. 12' seems to be the 'sweet spot' for fishing kayaks IMO.
  25. I've never seen the cold hard facts on this, but I've heard that Lowrance's Side/Down Scan is hardware based, where as Humminbirds is software based (bascially the Lowrance gives you a true 'what the hardware' sees image, while Humminbird's software takes a guess and makes the image try to look what it thinks it sees). I've also seen that Humminbird is moving to a hardware based system with this years models, but again, can't prove it. A lot of forums say Humminbird has better customer service. I never called them, but I have used Lowrance's CS and had absolutely no issues with them at all. I feel that Humminbird has better models for how I fish (mainly small craft and kayaks), but if I ever get a 'bass boat', I'll probably be putting a Lowrance in it.
