Colyer is a TOUGH fish from shore. I fish that lake a lot, so I know it fairly well. How adventurous do you feel? There's a path (sort of) on either side of the lake that ends at the main point on the lake. That point is where most of the action is. You can catch a ton of bass on a jig skipped down the point. Another good spot is behind the point - there's a little cut out with some timber in it, great spot for flippin'.
Don't feel like walking that far - then try fishing where the creek enters the lake (this is on the side with the crappy boat launch, not the nice one). Ton's of pickerel in that area too, they can be fun. From the creek mouth all the way out about 3/4 of the way to the point is one huge grass flat. There's some massive fish in there, but they are hard to find with such a large area to cover. You can also try fishing around the dam, but that's hit or miss too. Crappie hang out around there mostly.
This girl came out of the grass flats, I was heading to the point and this guy started yelling for me to take his photo LOL:
and here is the same guy in the early 90's with a nice one from Colyer... Kinda pointless to share, but I think the photo is hilariously nostalgic I still talk to that guy from time to time, he fishes that lake almost everyday (his name is Andy, he uses a green canoe with a TM).
