  1. I have two curado e7's no more than 5 months old. One is making a noise and it is coming from the gear box side. I really have never had any luck opening up a reel and getting it all back together correctly. I really don't want to mess this one up but I have to get some lube on the gears(just an observation). The manual does not explain how to disassemble to get to the gears. Any advise would be appreciated.
  2. Nice big fish!
  3. The hot weather and the daily afternoon thunderstorms are the beginning of the best fishing time for the Florida Everglades. This time of the year usually produces the biggest bass and often the most bass for the average South Florida angler. This is the time I will break out the top water frogs and big shad crank and jerk baits, which are always a big fish favorite. This season I have incorporated the MW 11.5" monster worm into the bag of tricks. It is made by JD's Custom Baits. It is a big bass killer! I'am hearing rumors that the research and development team at JD's is field testing a 16" worm at a local south Florida tournament this weekend. I want to see that worm! My guest this trip was Steve and his son Clay Killgore from Birmingham, Al. Clay just graduated from high school and is off to the University of Alabama. His dad wanted to do something cool with him before he leaves for school. I feel bad for him cause he is gonna get beat by both Florida and LSU this year. Both of these guys were great anglers but Clay had crazy madfish skills. I have had bigger bass days this year but this trip produced a better quantity of bigger bass. My tip of the week is to go large and see what happens. [/
  4. Those are some amazing fish!
  5. I got the feeling they were trying to steer me against bass tournaments? What did yall think?
  6. evergladesbasser check your pm's The baits are from JDscustombaits. www.jdscustombaits.com They are big presentation for big bass, the biggest works like a snake.
  7. Yes. I would like to get up to them holylands.
  8. My guest today was Jim Sattazahn of Fredericksburg, Pa. He was wanting to catch something better than the lil bass his local ponds has. I called this one Kung Fu bassin because he is a 2 nd degree black belt in some martial art. Anyway he caught quiet a few nice fish and claimed that by 8am. he had already had the best fishing day of his life........gotta love that. Most were caught using senkos, rapala husky jersa and DJ's custom baits. [img [/img
  9. Nice fish and photo. Got to add Garcia to my bucket mouth list.
  10. Yes we were fishing them like a snake. We were in 2-3 ft of water all day. It was cool using 40# braid cause you could rip it out of any snags.
  11. Finally after 11 years in south Florida I hit the sawgrass bass flats. I was accompanied by an old friend Dan and his partner Jason. They are the creators of J.D's Custom Baits. Check out the size of these worms  I felt like I was pulling a snake out of a sack each time I needed to swap a worm. I had to gear up for this area...lined up to 40# braid. Glad I had it cause just about every cast was coming through the razor sharp sawgrass, and each bass I caught was running around the sawgrass stalks. I was freakin wild! The baits are hand poured and are constructed of heavy rubber like a offshore bait. They eventually wear out but 20x's more durable than a store bought worm. I'am used to the confined fish bowl in the southern portion of the glades....so this was super cool! Not near as many fish but a wonderful experience.
  12. Lets get ready to Rumbleeeeeeeeeee! Today at 12 and 12:30 est on ESPN2.
  13. Howdy neighbor!
  14. Tip down and dirty for me...I don't want to see them till there boatside. I have more control when tiped down and I'am always in amongst the bushes and cypress.
  15. I would not any fish caught in the rim canals in broward and dade county. I have never tested the bass for mercury and other pesticides but I eat allot of bass from the central south glades. They probably aren't any good for me but they taste so good ;D
  16. Hey South East, this sunday (april 25th)at 12-1pm est. on ESPN2, they will air a two part bass show we did with Charlie Moore in the Everglades back country. We used Custom LT-25 Gheenoes in skinny water. The scenery was outstanding. Plenty of fish. Most were caught on the Yamamoto Senko and the Lunker City Spanky at least in our boat.
  17. Larry your making me want to take a road trip.
  18. Those are tournament winners there! Looks like yall caught a ton of them.
  19. On the contrary, this is a bass fishing forum, I am a member and this was a recent outing. I had done plenty of reading (search tool) on this forum before I posted and sorta figured I would get blasted on this thread.......but I posted anyway. I have never been one to swim is a school.
  20. Last month Charlie Moore from the ESPN2 hit "Beat Charlie Moore" came to South Beach in Miami. The South Florida everglades bass fishing and the night life of south beach was the backdrop for a new episode of "Beat Charlie Moore". I was given a set of possible dates....which I had already booked for bass charters by some Canadians and fellas from Tenn. After a few phone calls and some schedule shuffling I had everyone happy. Game on! left to right Captain Shane Procell, Charlie Moore, Keith McClendon and Jason Miller Over the years I have had many interesting people in the boat but Charlie Moore "MadFish" was by far the most entertaining. After being with Charlie for two days I felt like I had started a abdominal crunch routine...I mean I laughed so hard so long that I was was in pain for several days. This was the third time that I was able to be a guest on "Beat Charlie Moore" and the most fun for me. The first show we went swordfishing off Miami Beach. The second show we were snooking off Apollo Beach. This time he was on my home court, the Florida Everglades and Florida black bass was the target species. Charlie and I fished against two mechanics both of whom have been my friends for many years. One of them, Jason Miller of LaBelle Fl., wanted my head on a stick and the other, Keith McClendon of Hattiesburg Ms., is a huge fan of the "Beat Charlie Moore" show as well as a competitive angler on the "Fishers of Men" tournament trail. Both boats caught a ton of fish real quick. If you have seen Charlies show before you know he usually waits until he catches his first fish before lighting up a cigar. Lets just say he was smoking within minutes. It was a five fish tournament and boy was it close! The loser had too.........well you'll just have to catch it on ESPN2 one Saturday morning in the near future. Day two was "Charlie Moore Outdoors" for the NESN (New England Sports Network). I have never seen this show but it was the show that launched Charlies' career. This was just Charlie and his wife Angela fishing. She was a real trooper. Charlie had told her they were going to "Sunny South Florida". The weather went south and it was fifty degrees and raining all day.... just miserable weather. They fished for a four hours and I can say she caught as many fish as he did. Here they are doubled up again. I have known Charlie for five years and would like yall to know he is dedicated to his wife and 3 kids and extremely loyal to his employees, friends and sponsors. I would also say that he is an entertainer and business man who just happens to fish.
  21. The last week of March and the first of April have been the peak of the spawn in the southern portion of the Glades. We have been catching both spawning and post spawn fish. The weather has been incredibly mild in the mornings and heating up nicely in the afternoons. Water temps have remained consistent and this should be the last few weeks of the spawn. I'am looking forward to the annual post spawn feeding frenzy that will be kicking off over the next few weeks. Many of the bigger bass caught in the everglades will be hung in April. So if you get the chance to hit the swamp... now is the time. This past week was fish filled and I had parties from the Chicago Ill., Oklahoma, Long Island NY, and Knoxville Tenn. First up was Joe and the "Rooster" from Long Island. Joe was the first person ever dumped out of the boat into the gator pit. After the initial shock of finding my client in the water we all had a good chuckle. It was the funniest moment in all my years of guiding. I have never seen a big guy get out of the water so quick! Fortunately no gators were in striking distance. Here are a couple from Joe and his dad, the "Rooster". Next up were Mark and his son Joel. Mark is the creator of the "Ball Stack" now being used by major league teams across the country. Mark asked about the Value Jet plane crash in the everglades back in the 90's. his best friend was on the plane and it was an honor to stop by the monument and give him a few minutes alone in memory of his friend. Back to fishing... these guys tore them up with over a hundred bass caught. Joel had one on for a brief moment which was by far the biggest bass I have ever seen in person. Unfortunately the line ended up parting after a monster struggle. Next up was John from Chicago and his buddies Todd and Huey from Ok. They caught a ton of bass but the larger bass were not chewing despite a noble effort by all anglers. Fishing was tougher this day which was a bummer considering John had fished with me on the "Best" day I have ever seen in the everglades. During the summer of 2007, John and I caught over 200 bass on topwater frogs on a drizzling rain soaked day. John has one of the pigs mounted in his office, so not getting him a hawg was sort of a let down for me. The last trip of the week was John and Nick from south Florida. These brothers have fished with me for the last four years. They caught allot of fish and many brotherly insults were passed back and forth making for a very entertaining day in the swamp. Fish on, Capt. Shane Procell
  22. Those shows coming out of south west Florida are some of the best and most informative on T.V. Jose Wejbe's Spanish Fly used to be much better when it was all from Florida but still keeps me coming back. Charlie Moore's show is very entertaining. I liked it when he was putting up the $5,000 if you beat him. I like to see Roland catching some big bass.
  23. Take a look at the 13' Gheenoe Lowsider...impossible to flip and has a square back for a small kicker or trolling motor. They are built in Florida but distributed all over. www.gheenoe.net
  24. Ernie I'd have the usual senko and plastic worms rigged either texas or wacky. This time of the year I prefer a wacky Garry Yamamoto 5" senko. Try a Pop "R", working as slow as you patience will allow for major hookups.
