  1. I use a unit to uni for a braid to braid connection. Try to avoid sinching your knots tight untill you have pulled most of the slack out of the lines.
  2. Endless, This was my first time meeting them. Tate had seen me and Charlie catch them on Versus and had to cross the snake head off his young bucket list. I gave a breifing prior to hitting the water on how hard the fishs' head is and how I usually give em a couple of good pumps to sink the hook. His first snake hit under water and was running at the boat. He just kept reeling and setting the hook probably 10x. The first hook set was solid though, the other 9 were insurance. Once it was in the boat we laughed our buts off.
  3. Bill S. called me up about 6 months ago to set up a trip for his son Tate. Tate is an avid fisherman from Nashville Tenn. He has caught a lot of small red eyes and smallies but he really wanted to catch a snake head. Tate had been reading about the snake heads and just wanted to catch and kill one. Between the two of them we boated about twenty three or so. Tate got some bonus bass one of which was his personal best at 4.1 lbs. It is always a treat to take folks fishing but father and son teams really put a smile on my face. YouTube Video of the trip:
  4. Father and son trips are the best. Congratulations!
  5. Honey pack your stuff..... were moving to TEXAS
  6. Big and Tall. Congratulations!
  7. I have know Capt. Jim since I was a young buck working construction in Orlando. We have fished hundreds of hours together in the last 22 years. We have caught alot of big bass over the years but today was the biggest. Caught on a Scrounger jig head with a pumpkin Zoom fluke and 10# mono. He never took drag but just stayed heavy and glued to the bottom. At one time he buried himself under the hydrilla but I knew he was stuck good and going to end up on my Boga. It is always good to fish with friends and even better when good fish are caught. The YouTube Video link is at the bottom of post. The YouTube Video:
  8. Loxahatchee is frog country. Dan was using his own frogs. He is co-owner of JD'sCustomBaits. I have caught alot of big fish at Lox with his frog. www.jdscustombaits.com
  9. I tried to order a new closeout shimano 200 e7 from one of the advertisers on here. They were sold out and could not tell me if they would be getting any more in. I found Vergona's store on ebay. They are have them in stock for $138 and ship priority mail free. I got mine today and it was as advertised, new in the box. Just wanted to share incase yall are having difficulty finding the 200e7's. There store on ebay is http://cgi.ebay.com/SHIMANO-CURADO-200E7-200-E7-BAITCASTING-FISHING-REEL-/370516224186?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56447ce8ba
  10. Steve thanks for participateing in the wounded warrior program. That tells us alot about your character. I can tell you made Clay a very happy fella.
  11. That is not a snakehead, it's a bowfin a.k.a. mudfish. Would not eat it. The snakehead has a orange/black false eye on it tail.
  12. I fished a pit about 10 days ago. Got em on 7.5" Culprits (black & Purple). But the best and 8.8# came on Pumpkin flukes with 1/4oz. bullet weight. I also noticed that the small fish were shallow and the large fish were as deep as possible.
  13. Looked like it was fixing to be a big budget hollywood film. I thought it was cool! There were a couple of hawgs in there.
  14. What a way to spend Fathers Day!
  15. We finally got a few inches of desperately needed rain in the glades. The gators were on good behavior for a change. I only had to throw 2 rocks at them. Thats not bad since most of the time they run me off when the fishing gets good. I caught 20 or so bass and 3-4 nice ones using a Rebel crankbait and a 1/2 oz. rattle trap. The pictures were captured from video. Video of all the fish:
  16. Nice fish! I use the same stick and winch. Good setup.
  17. Thank You! The video where this still shot was captured is up now. BTW, That gator was really determined to eat me
  18. After reviewing some footage for a upcoming project, I thought this was a good frame. The fish got off but it was a great fight on light gear. I was using a Bomber model 7A in sexy shad. Our swamp is dry and the canals are at an all time low. The Bomber 7A runs just above the bottom. I used a program called "Snagit" to capture a still frame from the video.
  19. Good looking fish. Congratulations!
  20. My long time friend Garry was unfortunate enough to get a hook in the face. The short video shows the best and easiest way to remove a hook from you or your fishing partner.
  21. Florida does not Title trailers under 2000#'s. But all trailers must have a registration to get a tag.
  22. FYI, TW has sold out of the Curado 200e7. I used the google search to find other dealers who had the 200e7 and bought from them, still $138 and free shipping.
  23. I know in Florida it is easy to register as "Home Made". It does not matter who built the trailer. My trailer was a REPO, I bought off craigs list. Went to register, but I had no registration. They would do nothing with the Bill of sale without a current registration. My buddy who build trailers told me to go have it weighed at a certified weigh station, which I did. I took the weigh "certificate" to the tag agency and told her it was a home made trailer and gave her the certified weigh certificate. It was a piece of cake. Now my rergistration say "Home Made". Good luck.
  24. Congratulations! Those are some real nice fish.
  25. I hit that weir 2 weeks ago idleing through. Should rename post "No water in the Glades". I was out at the "Interceptor" off the Alley last week and saw some beautiful structure along the now dry canal banks that I marked for future reference. I have only been in S. Florida 13 years, never saw water this low. We need a tropical depression.....
