  1. We were fishing the "Little L" down in south Florida. Some of us refer to it a the "Magic" canal. Despite fluctuations in water level and water temperature, this crystal clear 22 mile long canal is sorta magical. It really never gets affected. But I had one thing working against me this morning...it was 42 degrees at daybreak. I absolutely dread weather below 55 degrees. I went into my hunting bin and got out my long johns and coveralls and was dreading the long run down this canal. By the time I got to the canal it was already a warm 62 degrees and I was thinking that it might be a o.k. day after all. By the afternoon is was a very nice 71 degrees. It is rare that I get to fish when clients are in the boat. But today was the exception. My guy was by himself and really wanted me to join in. We started with white Zoom Vibra worms and stayed with them most of the day. Biggest two fish were in the 5-6 range, but after that cold night I was thankful that we caught any good fish.
  2. I have braid on all but 2 light spinning rods used specifically for wacky rigged senkos. I am a new convert to braid, less than one year. I used to think fish could see it.....now I really don't think it matters all that much.
  3. Brother I feel your pain! The exact thing happened to me out at Lox last march. Cleaning the prop and down she went. Glad you are o.k.!!!!!!!!
  4. It is a Gheenoe "Super" 16. It has a center console, 30 gallon livewell, Hy-Jacker jack plate, 50 Mercury 2 stroke with a custom stainless prop. Not the quickest but launches a load onto plane in ultra shallow water. I would have a much bigger boat but some of my honey holes are so tight and shallow that this rig has proven to be the best tool for my application.
  5. We just finished up fishing for snake heads and bass with my friend Charlie Moore for the NBC sports "No Offense". It was a 3 day barrel of laughs and fish. The target species was snake head and the by catch was bass. This was the 5th show we have done together and like the previous shows, it was a blast. My friends got in on the action by providing the camera boats. Fellow BR member Catching had made some custom frogs in the New England Patriots colors. Charlie used them and caught 7 snake heads on them. We finished up at Markham Park with spinner baits and did very well.
  6. I have developed a Love and Hate relationship with Lake Okeechobee. I have been humbled a few times out there with perfect conditions and had huge days when I least expected it. Your right about the wind out there....
  7. Wow Robert! Ya smoked em good.
  8. WTG. Love the P's
  9. Those are studs! Congratulations...
  10. That is pretty neat to bag the same slob in the same day. Cogratulations!
  11. it was stiff 14-16 out of the NE, but perfect for the area I was in.
  12. I will definately catch it.
  13. Dan Kenney from Go Fish T.V. is down shooting some shows for his up coming season. He fished Lake kissimmee a few days ago and picked up a couple over 8#'s. Today he and I fished Lake Okeechobee. We were down in the Moore Haven area. The area had been hot for a few months and then went ice cold on the last few times out. I was hesitant to go back this morning but it worked out well. Here is one of the fish. This one was 7 3/4#'s and the other was 8#'s. All were caught on a JD'sCustomBaits frog.
  14. I fished out of Moore Haven today...the wind was howling but managed to get a 8# and a 7 3/4# on a JD'sCustomBaits buzz frog. I was fishing the grass flats adjacent to hard grass lines. Beside those two fished it was tough. Hope you do well!
  15. Two of my buds were caught fishing a STA water retention area out of the Hollylands. FWC had them on video. Court appearance in Palm Beach County where the judge gave them each a $500 fine and 50 hours of community service.
  16. I have the Boga 30#. Its a heavy duty, stainless, expensive but accurate to 1/2# incriments. I have a float on the wrist lanyard just in case it goes overboard. If i was to buy another Boga I would get the next size down.
  17. Hey Steve, thats a monster! You gotta love fishing in shorts in January
  18. This was edited for the viewing pleasure of the general youtube audience and not intended for solicitation of business or self promotion on BR or any other form of social media.
  19. That was a cool shot of shaw on the cowling. Would not know it was the same boat as the white one i saw.
  20. Fishing in the Everglades has beed hit and miss lately with high and cold water flowing. I visited a local preserve a few days ago and found the topwater bite to be good. Even with cooler water temps the bass were chaseing down the frog and had a couple of outright mega hits. Within 25 minutes i had 3 fish over 5#'s. I finished the 2 hour trip with 6 bass all on top and wearing shorts. The funny thing is I went back dwo days later and 15 degrees cooler and was luck to get a couple dinks.
  21. Bucket fishermen don't bother me in the least. I know they are trying to put food on the table to feed their family. I often take a portion of my limit (if i have kept any) and pass them out as I'am coming in. It is common to see migrant field hands fishing on saturday and sunday in my area. I know these guys are just looking for something to cook and eat. So helping them out puts a smile on my face.
  22. Chunky fish brother!
  23. Now I know you are justa mortal man....like the rest of us
  24. I would call Capt. Steve McDonald at 954-279-4374..he is always on fish. Here is his big fish yesterday.
