  1. I would give these three land based guides a call to put you on not only a lot of peacock bass , but some huge peacock bass. Chris Licato/Swampgod Outdoors (catches the biggest peacocks in S. Florida consistently) Adam Rizi/ ReelDeal Adventures Hai Truong/Urban Miami Peacock Fishing (knows more about peacock bass fishing than any person I know) All these guys are friends of mine and I have fished with them. They have the local peacock bass fishing dialed in! Good luck
  2. We have missed you Big O! Great catch.
  3. Jlo23 We are boating 100 plus a day in a area near where I took you. Half the bites are on topwater and the other half on worms. Up to 6#
  4. That's what it's all about!
  5. You can start at the ramp and catch fish. That place is loaded with every species that is known to live in S. Florida. The entire system will give up fish.
  6. You were fishing the mm41 offshoot as we call it. That dead end canal can be incredible for action. Many days with well over 200 bass in there. Never really caught size in there. How about all the gators back there? I had a issue with a gator back there. Started carrying a pistol ever since.
  7. I was given two warning shots that struck the water within 10 feet of my boat. Yes I was trespassing. Being young and dumb at the time I made a bad decision to ignore all the obvious no trespassing signs. I also had a angry shotgun toting farmer run me off his pond. Now that I value my life and the rights of private property owners I would never fish any posted or private property.
  8. I was using the "Force"
  9. I would skip the topwater for now and get some jerk baits and flukes going...unless the fish want a topwater. Right now the Chug Bug and Pop-r are getting strikes off US 27. Nothing compared to a Fluke or Senko.
  10. Yes Robert I do miss my Gheenoe.
  11. You can get by with m/h rods but Heavy are going to work best if your in the grass. Leave the mono at home. I would not go les than 30# braid and prefer 40-65#braid. Good luck and catch some big fish!
  12. Right now there is a foot of water on the first weir, which is the shallowest. Come spring there will be no water on the weirs...that's when it get's really good back there.
  13. I ran it in my 21 Stratos a couple of weeks ago. Tight for me but fine for your boat. Here is the video of the run. This will give you an idea of what to expect.
  14. Great place for the topwater and one of the prettier canals in S. Florida.
  15. Jordan, Did you get a tow vehicle? Nice to see you on here. I dig your profile picture. I remember that day ;)All the information the guys above said is good. That L-28 off Tamiami Tr is not a secret but, but you would think it was since I rarely see many boats out there. It is 10 miles of fish and some kind of pretty! It has shallow deer crossings (like the area I took you) that keep the big boats out. You really should get out there.
  16. Your a little early for the Rapala Skitter Walk. The Rapala X-Rap you showed is a god peacock catching bait. I too would bypass the Lagoon and head back into the neighborhood canals. Every point, bridge piling and seawall is a potential hot spot for a peacock strike. Pretty soon you will start seeing peacocks pairing up and or with fry. Then that little x-rap will really shine. When it does warm up in the spring I would work some prop baits into your arsenal. Good Luck, Capt. Shane
  17. Congratulations Dwight. I saw it on Hugh's Face Book page yesterday. I said that looks like Dwight
  18. I had shot and plastic wading raining down on me one day at Lake Okeechobee. I should have know something was up when I pulled onto Torrey Island before sunrise and could not find any parking. It was like WW2 out there. Every where I fished I could hear guys talking. It was so bad I finally ate and a sandwich and fell asleep in my boat.
  19. He ate a 12" Mullet
  20. Caught this big snook a week ago in the middle of the mullet run. It was by far the largest snook I have had the pleasure to fight. Released to fight another day. I was fishing with Captain Jeff Maggio of Lunkerdog Charters.
  21. I can understand you feeling bad about killing a fish that your not going to eat. I have not killed a snake head in several years. I have taken a lot of grief over releasing the snake head but I have a moral objection to killing for killing sake. I would not be afraid to immediately release the fish back in the same body of water that it is caught in.
  22. 70 fish this time of the year is fantastic!!
  23. I have only targeted the peacock for the last six years. But I have fallen head over heals in love with the peacock bass. I am addicted to the hard hits, the drag screaming runs and the bad attitude the peacock is known for. In this video I was prefishing for an upcoming SunSports show called Captain's Tales. I wanted to capture on video the aggressive strikes and lure punishing battles that the peacock is capable of. Mission accomplished! This is some of the best footage of Miami Peacock Bass fishing. We have a lot of big hits, big fish, doubles and smashed and broken lures. I hope you like it.
