  1. I hear that a lot. I watch clients make mistakes like setting up on the blowup and I say to myself.......why do folks do that. I try to tell folks that the bass will not drop that frog, just take up slack , drop that rod tip and load up.
  2. I started my guiding career there over years ago. I was shocked to see what the government has done.
  3. Summer time is my favorite time to throw a top water bait. This video was shot last week in the St. Johns River watershed. Top water was the ticket until the wind kicked up and then it was a spinnerbait bite.
  4. I am mainly am artificial fisherman. These were caught on shiners.
  5. Those Barraundi are up in Central Florida. The fellas that own that operation are farming them for food. Pretty cool that there are so many species in Florida coming from overseas.
  6. I assume all nonnative species except the Butterfly Peacock are invasive. I do not hear any chatter from the FWC about killing them.
  7. I have chased and caught just about every fish available in my area but a new fish has peaked my interest. In Broward County S. Florida the ClownKnife fish is getting very big, both in size and popularity. It has taken me awhile to learn their habits but I think I am on to their habits. In this recent photo my buddy Capt Thadeus Ragan, photographer Pat Ford and I were fishing for the ClownKnife. Pat had never photographed a ClownKnife and so we targeted them. I was pretty nervous since I had targeted them the week prior only to come up with one and it was small. On this day we hit pay three times over and two of them (pictured) we the largest two I have ever seen. This fish is from Thailand and Indonesia and many folks keep the in an aquarium. I believe people have been releasing them into the lake system for many years. They eat a lot and they fight like crazy. They even have the ability to fight in reverse. Many times when I put the landing net in the water they will see it and swim away pealing drag in reverse. A wicked cool fight! Photo Credit: Pat Ford Photography
  8. Man that comes as a shock! Eric was a cool fella. RIP
  9. David, The Bullseye isn't a myth Your probably not doing anything wrong, except fishing in beat up water. I will say that to really enjoy catching them you will need to get off the beaten path so to speak. Everyone and their mother is catching and killing them as the FWC asks. If you use Google Earth look for all the sub canals and lakes north of the C-14.
  10. Now that the rainy season is full blown in the Everglades, I have had to look for areas that don't have a lot of flow. My pardner and I found a place deep in the glades that is usually the last place to be affected by the rain. We had an epic bite. It was about 95 degrees with close to 95% humidity and the bite was going off. We found a pattern very early. The fish were feeding on the levee side of the canal. They were pushing bait up to the hard levee, we even saw a few big fish with their backs out of the water. The two baits that seemed to be working were the Gambler Lures Big EZ and the Strike King Swing Jig with a Bruiser Baits Twin Grub tail trailer. We filmed a video of the trip that can be seen on You Tube: Captain Shane
  11. You know where to go ......yet you continue to go the other direction
  12. Thanks pardner. I appreciate you watching!
  13. This beauty hit a Strike King Rage Toad. This was my second largest bass ever, both on top water baits. Fish was accepted into the Florida Trophy Catch program as a 10-7oz Lunker
  14. Captain Thadeus is a great friend of mine and one of the best guides in S. Florida. I know you had a blast! Love the video.
  15. I use a Med/Hvy or Hvy rod with braided line. I don't want any stretch on the hook set. I believe it's important to use a Extra Wide Gap hook. I use a 6/0 EWG. I drop my rod on the hit, feel the weight and then try to break my rod on the hook set.
  16. The Strike King Rage Toad has been working well for me this summer. I fished the "Blue Moon" this past Thursday. Some fish apps said it was supposed to be the best day of fishing in a long time. I would say it was a perfect day. It was almost 100 degrees with a moderate breeze and we were fishing submerged hydrilla in 4 foot of water. Picked up a 9.14# just after first light and the 8.99# at 2:30 in the afternoon. All the fish took a white Rage Toad.
  17. The Disney lakes guides may use pontoon boats.
  18. Yes I am very appreciative of my little buddy who turned me on to this bite. It is always good to have a network of guys you can work with. It has to be a two way street. Premature Hookulation.....I don't know where this stuff comes from
  19. This is the hardest thing to teach a new angler. Actually it's hard to teach an experienced angler once they have developed bad technique. I appreciate your compliment.
  20. Dwight this was right around the corner from where you caught your PB.
  21. I have stayed at the Turkey Lake Resort. It is the perfect place for a Yak. If you do not take your Yak, you will be kicking yourself in the butt...trust me. I do not believe you will have any issues storing your Yak there when you need to run around town. They let me keep my Stratos in a special secured parking area. there are some big fish in the lake and the water is spring fed.
  22. Senko Lover, I tried to share here last night but it has been so long since I posted that I forgot how I was going to try again this morning and Bam there it was posted by you. I am much obliged to you.
