  1. Agree 100%, especially on the Pujols contract. And if I'm not mistaken, they got Wacha with the compensation pick they got for letting him go.
  2. I can't tell if you hate Boston in general or the Red Sox specifically (or both), but whatever. The better team won. Enjoy the offseason.
  3. Good series overall, not an all-time great, but still good, with a few things never seen before. Great pitching on both sides. The Sox were grinders, as they have been all year (never lost more than 3 in a row). Might have to change my avatar like A-Jay did. Parade on Saturday, and then spring training will be here before you know it and it's baseball time again.
  4. More bad baserunning and questionable managing tonight, on both sides. Could be baseball on Halloween this year.
  5. My god, please call me next time you go fishing.
  6. Can't go to bed until I've answered this for my mind. After looking at all of the rules again, it looks like it doesn't matter what Middlebrooks did, the umps could call obstruction. I'm not sure why Craig decided to run over Middlebrooks instead of taking a more clear path down the baseline, but in doing so he got the call. Dumb luck. It was then up to the umps to decide if the runner would have been safe if there were no obstruction. In their minds it did. It's a little frustrating because I'm pretty sure the home plate ump is the guy who blew the obvious first base call that cost that Tigers pitcher a perfect game a few years ago, and I think the 3rd base ump tonight was the only guy in Fenway who didn't see Kozma drop the ball the other night. These umps are supposed to be the best, so let's hope there's no more controversy and the play on the field decides the games. On to Game 4.
  7. Bad call, if they're going by the book, they can't give Beltran on the statue play when he got nicked by a pitch earlier in the game. But whatever. What kills me if Farrell not walking the guy in the first place. I don't know who was up next (Kosma?) and I don't care who was up next, it could be Babe Ruth, with first base open you walk the guy. And also with Farrell, why do you have Workman get his first professional at bat in the top of the 9th of the WS if you're only sticking with him for two batters in the bottom of the 9th? If that was the case, you might as well have pinch hit Napoli. And Middlebrooks, there's NO WAY you let the throw from Saltamacchia get cleanly through you. Block it with your face, your family jewels, anything. That ball should not get by under any circumstance. After the ball did get by, he lifted his legs to get up, then kind of went down, then lifted just his legs. I think he was trying to get his feet out of the basepath where he assumed the baserunner would run, but I guess that's the rule. I'm listening to the umpires (the TV's still on in the other room) and there's saying him lifting his legs wasn't the reason interference wasn't called. So I have no idea what he was supposed to do. If the runner was out at home, it was still a tie game. Still no guarantee of a win by either team. The Cards still might have won. But the interference call in the judgement/interpretation of the rules by the umpires definitely lost the game for one team. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Lost in all the confusion was a great play by Nava, for being exactly where he should have been and making a great throw to the plate, and to Pedroia for making the initial play. On to Game 4. Game 4 is usually the swing game in any 7-game series. 2-2 or 3-1 = big difference in how the rest goes.
  8. Mainebass 1984 - that's how to get it done!
  9. Since you're leaning toward St. Croix, I'd get the 7'M Avid that's in the Flea Market section for $110.
  10. Thanks Gramps. I'm hoping to get out Sunday morning, either to Webster or another place a bit closer to me in Northbridge. Thanks for the tips, that should help me with the game plan if I end up at Webster
  11. Yes, the place is huge. I do have a trolling motor with a depthfinder in the canoe, so it gets around alright and I have some idea of what's below me. Big place though, and I knew enough not to go there on a summer weekend in a canoe. Looking forward to getting there again. tight lines
  12. I was also at Webster this morning, but put in at the state ramp on the southern end. FOGGY this morning. I see the beach in the background of one of your pics, so I guess you used the other ramp on the north side? My buddy and I were in a canoe and stayed in the southern basin. You had better luck than us, but we still got a few and missed a few as well. It was only my second time to Webster, so I'm still learning the place.
  13. Here's a good link: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dfg/dfw/maps-destinations/pond-maps-central-district.html
  14. That series deserved to go seven games. Tough way to lose tonight.
  15. Nice job Cresty, looks like you and Walt had a great day on the Q. What gate were you fishing from? I had to laugh at your third photo, it looked like you didn't want to hold that sick looking fish any longer than you needed to for the picture. And that was a very nice fish in your last pic - did you weigh him?
  16. Get a Weber, you'll be happy.
  17. Great series so far, I hope all the games are like this....especially Game 2 - with a Bruins win.
  18. Waiting for OT in Game 1 as I type this. B's in 6
  19. I use Cavitrons, with no trailer or trailer hook
  20. I've only been out twice so far this year, but I landed a 6lb 11oz LMB on Sun Jun 2 at a local pond. Caught on a green pumpkin 5" Senko, t-rigged weightless:
  21. I wouldn't necessarily say heavier, but the action of the XF is definitely fast which makes it perfect for soft plastics. I had this rod and it only saw soft plastics the entire time I owned it before I sold it to another BR member. I only sold it because I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on a Legend Elite in the same model. Solid rod for the money.
  22. Go with the Avid 6'8" MXF. Perfect for what you want. There was a used one in the Flea Market a few weeks ago.
  23. Bought my first Loomis - MBR783 GLX.
  24. As of last night, BTD had all rods and reels 25% with no exclusions on brands. I picked up a GLX at 25% off. As of this afternoon, they only have limited brands at that discount.
