  1. Very true lol. I just don't get the behavior, crappy days fishing is awesome, nice days fishing sucks. Last year it was the opposite...
  2. I went out on the pond behind my house Friday and Saturday and did pretty good on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits (they haven't been touch plastics lately). The temperature on Friday was around 60-65 and a little windy, Saturday was in the high 60's low 70's and still a little wind. Well I go out Sunday and throw everything I have with no success, the weather was very nice, high 70's with no wind. Do the fish get turned off during a warm front? I could go out and fish in chilly 20mph wind and catch em but not when its a beautiful day??
  3. They numb you up pretty good, the only thing you will feel is a little pressure when they put your eye in a vice type thingy (don't let my wording scare you, I don't know what to call it). Your eyes might itch a little and you have to wear goggles to make sure you don't rub your eyes... After I got home from mine, I popped a couple Tylenol PM's and drank a beer and I was out cold till the next day (I know that wasn't smart for me to do that but I didn't want to wake up till morning). Woke up the next morning with crystal clear vision...
  4. Do it! I got it done 2 years ago and I am loving it. It was totally worth the money. The procedure sucked, and you'll want to get to bed ASAP because your eyes will be a little itchy and you cant see anyways... Then when you wake up the next morning you can look out the window and see things you could never see before without glasses or contacts! You wont regret it if you get it done... If you go through with it, let us know how you like it.
  5. Sweet lol. The Chinese calendar forecasts a girl for us, she doesn't throw up at all but will gag from time to time... I guess in 3 weeks is the only way of telling for sure! Congrats again!
  6. You ever really picked one up? They weigh 22lbs and typically feel like they have steel beams in the core of the blank. I've seen a few bolted to truck bumpers as whip antennas... Hm... That's what all that my older rods use to be, and haven't broken one yet. I still use one as my crankbait and spinner rod, and I think it is a decent rod, its the pro light. If you get tired of fishing because you think an uglystik is heavy then you shouldn't be out on the water instead you should be in the gym...
  7. Congrats man! We find out in 3 weeks what we are having, I am so excited. Did you guys do any of those chineese tests to figure out what you were having before the sonogram?
  8. Thats awesome man! Congrats!! You will be hooked now!
  9. Looks like you missed the sales on the BPS reels but I would spend the extra 30 and get a Pro Qualifier...
  10. Probably wont be going to any lakes this weekend but will do some fishing on the pond behind my house... Already caught about 40+ bass so far out of it this year.
  11. If he is having trouble throwing a senko he needs to add a little weight to practice I think... And you are right a senko is hardly light weight...
  12. I use 15# yo-zuri hybrid on my Revo STX and 65# Power Pro on my Pro Qualifier and have no problems casting a weightless senko... I was fishing yesterday, casting into some heavy wind and never had a problem. It just takes practice, start with a weighted (light weight) t-rigged senko and pracitce with that, once you get good at that try taking the weight off and see what happens.
  13. What I use for the pond behind my house is: Spinnerbaits and small crank baits in the spring/summer time, buzzbaits in the summer time (deadly!!), and senko's or any other kind of stick bait ALWAYS works well year around.
  14. I have both the STX and PQ, and I dont think the PQ is as good as the STX BUT I think its an awesome reel for the price. I see myself getting another one in the future.
  15. My Pro Qualifier has 65# Power Pro on it and it casts just great. I let my brother who NEVER uses baitcasters use it on one of the windiest days, and he was able to cast a weightless senko right into the wind.
  16. Good luck! I think I am going to give turkey hunting a shot next year. What size shot do you use?
  17. Thats awesome man, I cant wait till my kid can fish with me. I have a while before that can happen because its about the size of a kidney bean right now lol.
  18. I hope the rain can hold off till Sunday, we are planning a trip to Powerton Saturday.
  19. Buzzbaits do really well with the pond next to my house in the summer time. I just cast up and down the bank and slay the bass. Other than that Senko's, beetle spins, and spinnerbaits do well. When the vegetation starts getting thick I will throw a frog or t-rigged plastics...
  20. Agreed. I am a Revo fan, but as a first baitcaster, I think you have done well with the PQ, some found the old model SX's kinda tricky 8-) i learned on my SX and now i can cast any baitcaster !! too bad you didn't get the SX , one heck of a fine reel . can't wait to get some more money in my gear fund so i can get a couple more I hear you there, being my first baitcaster was a crappy Abu SilverMax lol. I got soo frustrated in the beginning, but now I feel like I can use any baitcaster on the market.
  21. I have a 09 PQ and love it, I let me buddy use it that cant cast a baitcaster to save his life, and he did really well with it. For a first timer definitely get the PQ...
  22. Since this is your first baitcasting reel I would go with the Pro Qualifier, it has dual braking which will really help you...
  23. I have a '09 STX and love this reel! I got it on sale for 99 bucks around Christmas time at Gander Mountain. I use this as my worm reel and can cast a weightless senko a mile! I can even cast into the wind with no problems...
  24. Very nice Gale, where you using a spinner bait? Thats what we caught our bass on when we went a couple weeks ago... They wouldnt bite on anything else.
  25. I am up in Rockford working so that means no fishing for me untill the weekends.
