  1. I would go with either 40-65# braid, 20 will dig in the spool a lot easier and cause break offs.... I use 65 personally...
  2. I get the same thing all the time when I buy lures... Though I would surprise my wife by bringing her home a Shark steam vac... I told her "here is a toy for you so you don't fee like I am spending money all the time on myself"... Yeah that didn't go over well, but now she loves it and uses it twice a week to steam the hardwood floors 8-)
  3. Beautiful dog! I love hunting with pointers. I am looking to get a English Setter after me and my wife are done having kids.
  4. Ohh yeah, I got my batteries all replaced in my mojo decoys and I am ready to go!
  5. I think the Premier would be a nice choice, I have a STX and love it. It cast light baits with ease, and is very very smooth. I think my next purchase will be a Premier.... As far as Shimano or Abu, I have to say Abu... I have a Revo Silvermax that just wont quite and cast a crankbait a mile, and a STX that I love. Abu is just easier to cast, and on windy days I can dial it in without having to adjust the C brakes... I have a Citica 200D and a Citica 200E, I prefer the D over the E because to me it cast better and is smoother... The E can give me trouble sometime, it might need a cleaning to fix it but who knows. My silvermax has never been cleaned and is still casting great. So my vote goes to Abu.
  6. I use my old revo silver max, it does a great job, that and it doesnt cast like it use to so I use it to flip and pitch.
  7. Unless you get shot in the mommy daddy button or the neck lol.. Yeah I use to play all the time, I miss it. I need to get out and play again.
  8. Been through it 4 times and my biggest regret with the first one was not giving my wife the attention she needed. I did not make that mistake again. Boy you hit the nail on the head with that one! Me and my wife just went over this last night. I have been working a lot of overtime and have been going to bed early and not paying any attention to her ect ect... Wrong thing to do, if you dont like a crying emotional wife lol.
  9. Congrats man, we will be having our first in November. Her hormones are going to be out of whack and get every emotional at times... The best thing you can do is comfort her and try to be supportive...
  10. I don't know about that, I have a STX and I have no problem casting light plastics. You cant go wrong with the dual braking of the STX.
  11. Thanks, that is some useful info!
  12. Tournament was fun but neither me or the boater did very well. I had several misses on a frog in the morning and after that I could only manage to catch a small 11" bass on a t-rig. The boater was able to bring in 2 13"ers lol. 7.89 lbs won the tournament so it was a tough day for everyone.
  13. Where at on Clinton if you dont mind me asking? Using cranks?
  14. I am fishing Lake Shelbyville... Thanks for everyone's advise, I have 6 poles so I am thinking about have the following: 1) Cranks, spinners 2) Weightless worn 3) topwater 4) T-rig 5) C-rig 6) Jig Does that sound like a decent start? This is my first tourney, so I guess thats why I am so nervous lol.
  15. I will be fishing a tournament tomorrow and heard all the fish are deep. This doesn't really bother me too much because I am pretty good with texas rigged plastics, cranks, and okay with jigs. The problem I am having is I never really use a C-rig, and have never used a drop shot before. Should I rig two of my poles with these setups or just stick to what I am good at? Do C-rigs and drops shots really shine in deeper water? I think the deepest we will be going is about 20'...
  16. Duh lol, I knew that. After the 4th of July we would always walk around that lake to find fireworks people lost/forgot about.
  17. Where is Mattis Lake/pond at??? I have been living in Champaign my whole life and never heard of that lake.
  18. There are still a few spots around here lol. If you ever want to try the pond I live on you should at least have a buzzbait, fluke in pearl white, texas rigged creature or craw bait. Those will produce best for ya.
  19. There is a pond behind my house full of bass if you ever want to give it a shot... I am by Parkland
  20. I pretty much hunt upland game birds... Hunt coyote here and there. I am going to start getting into deer hunting again.
  21. I have the pelican 10E, and I just tie my anchor to the bracket of my seat... I haven't replaced the seats yet but I would like to sometime. As far as loading and unloading, I just carry (with help) to the water...
  22. Brush hog in green pumpkin
  23. Sounds like it would, I think key would be getting your bait deep enough...
  24. Are you fishing there for the Champaign County Bassmasters tournament? If so I will see you there, I just joined and will be fishing that tournament. I was told that the fish will be deeper so C-rigs and cranks will be the way to go. I am not sure where to fish on the lake but I will talk it over with the person I am teamed up with.
  25. lol that was classic!
