  1. Love my Lew's Tournament Pro, and my Revo STX is a close second.
  2. Lew's or the BPS Carbonlite, you cant go wrong with either one.
  3. 12-15lb test. I plan on trying some this year also. I'm thinking about putting 20lb on my jig and heavy t-rig rod, 15 on my light t-rig rod. I have heard nothing but good things about it except for the price.
  4. I would get a 7.1:1 for the topwater, 6,x:1 for the all around setup, and a 5.x:1 for the crankbait setup. I tried using a left handed baitcaster once and that is it for me, I couldnt reel it in smoothly, and lost fish because of that reason. Stick with what you know, if you are comfortable using a right handed reel, use a right handed reel. Why do you want a left handed setup for topwater anyway?
  5. I would go with the Lew's Tournament Pro, like others have said, shop around and you can find them for 150. I have two and they are by far my favorite reels. I also have a Lew's Tournament MG which is very nice if you dont want to spend the money on the pro, you cant go wrong with Lew's.
  6. My ideas were like said above, the RC with winch. Abu revo STX with Powell max H extra fast (jig rod) Lews TP with Abu veritas 7' MHF (t-rig) Lews TP with Abu Villain 6'9" MHF (tube rod) Lews tournament MG with BPS PQ MF (light t-rig 1/8-1/4) Quantum smoke with Abu Villain 7'1" MF (shaky head) Daiwa Zillion with BPS mega tournament MHF (top water/spinnerbait) Shimano citica 200E with St. Croix 6'6" MHF (weightless t-rig) I have two extra reels I need rods for, any suggestions?
  7. I am getting my reels sent off for cleaning this week, and I am thinking about changing some things up with my original setups. How would you guys pair my reels and rods up, and used what what presentation. Here's a list of my gear. 8. Very nice! I would say that's an awesome day on Clinton! My buddy tries to fish for strippers all the time at Clinton with no luck, do you just idle around till you find a school of shad in the middle of the lake and start tossing your swimbait and jigging spoon?
  9. That was my first time ever putting on gloves… If you haven't ever done it before it hard to explain, but all thought and technique go out the window really… It get a lot easier after that because you know what to expect. I did it 9 more times after that and never lost, but ended up with one draw.
  10. That was my cousin that got the rib shot (i was in the blue sleeveless shirt). I talked to the kid about a week after and he said his ribs still hurt. The kid I was boxing got a broken nose, and a cut on his eye. It looked pretty nasty.
  11. . Found a video of my cousin and I "boxing" at a local bar 14 years ago. We are the first ones in, my cousin is the shirtless one and I have the sleeveless shirt on. Its pretty ugly but we got the job done.
  12. I have been to Newton when it was in the low 30's, the ramp was fine.
  13. Looks like my fishing is over for the most part also, unless I take the small boat down to Newton. Its dog hunting time for me now
  14. Got ya, I have never fished that lake before but heard it can be good at times.
  15. What the lake you are talking about, is it near Havana IL?
  16. Hm... not sure where you were lol. The one off Windsor is on the corner of Windsor and 1st street to your south. It's a single pond that has parking off of 1st street. Generally if you can see the bass they can see you and they wont bite. The best thing to do is fish another spot for about 30 minutes and then come back about 20 yards from where you saw them and cast to the spot, make sure they dont see you.
  17. I fished it once but not for very long with no luck...
  18. There are several but I don't know how good they are because I haven't fished them. Like Dougie said there is one on Windsor on the south corner of Windsor and 1st street. There is also another one on Brandley across the street from the soccer fields at Parkland (just west of Mattis ave.). If you keep going North on Mattis till you hit Olympian Dr. take a left at the light, there is a undeveloped subdivision that has several ponds on it. There is also Mattis Lake, its off of Prospect on Devonshire Dr.
  19. Champaign county bassmasters
  20. I was able to take first at our Ccbm classic at Rend this weekend. First day I brought in only 1 fish that went 3.44, and lost a 5-6 pounder at the boat. Second day I was able get get a limit with the best being 2.95 pounds. I was able to pull it off with 12 and change with second place not far behind with 11 plus.
  21. Next week the 7th at the VFW on Edgebrook Dr. at 7pm.
  22. Im thinking its probably Dan Roney
  23. It takes awhile for whoever made the FB page to allow people to join lol. If you give me a description of the person I could probably tell you who it was.
  24. Got ya, but you have his number though? I would give him a call and see what he says...
