  1. hey detroit...I'm in Windsor. lol TJ
  2. blade was fixed. I may have one in the basement...don't know when I'll get to it but I have left myself a memo on my desktop. If I have it, it's yours. TJ
  3. Long Island and Catt...I understand you. I assumed that I had already located fish and just had to catch them, not find them. I'm sticking to my guns...BUT...I will try your approach in the future. Can't hurt to learn! TJ
  4. for largemouth, a 6" worm...deadsticked deep into reeds or under mats. for smallies, on rocks, a carolina with a soft plastic craw (2 1/2-3")...in weedy areas, a very slow tube, maybe with a pc of alka selzer in it...using scent. keep in mind, I'm up here in Ontario. TJ
  5. I'm with Five Alive...a 2 lber with about 6" of a 7" jelly worm hanging from the rear end...of course it was black grape! TJ
  6. Does a tennis pro slow down his second serve after faulting? NO...go at it 100%. Trust your instincts that you have developed through experience. Get out into nature more and read the signs...try a non-rushed practice and do what you feel, not what you think fits. Might just trigger something good! TJ
  7. I still use the green 4600s for flipping. Low profiles for everything else. Also, I have a special edition black with gold bought in the early 80s...never used it, still in the teak box! Kind of a collector thing I guess. Apparently from some Abu exec who passed on and was from prior to the 80s. TJ PS...definitely gonna need some drag pads for these 4600s if anyone has info, would be much appreciated. thanks.
  8. I had to answer plastic...my tubes are the go-to but not my favourite. Fav has to be the pop-r. Love the topwater excitement. Also can't beat the instant stoppage of a big smallie hit on a spinnerbait! Lund Explorer...I can't believe how close our lists are. You must fish St.Clair! In fall, pop-r, x-rap, dbl willow spinnerbait, reg tube, weightless heavy salt tube, senko and, definitely the gold 3/4 hopkins...not in that order...and I use it all year. TJ
  9. I like to use a swivel between my braid and flouro. The size of my swivel will fit through my tiptop. I have always used a swivel since I hate: a)tying line to line, and, b)line twist. Even use it when dragging tubes for smallies. Nice thing is, I was in a boat with Steve Clapper and noticed that he does the same thing (swivel). Makes me feel like I'm doing at least one thing right! It was quicker to tie on new rigs too. Cant remember if he used braid though.
  10. I know people who double team and drive straight through in 18-20 hrs but I'm looking at 2 days. Probably 10-12 hrs on day one and about 6-8 on day 2. Just me and my sons so I'm driving myself. Should be fun! Lots of bass and baseball once we're there! TJ
  11. I should have noted that I would be glad to help some of you coming from long distances to fish Lake St.Clair smallies...next summer...and the Detroit River for walleye in the spring. TJ

    Hello

hey Garry...I'm new as well but welcome to the site. what lake are you on in the kawarthas? I have a bit of experience up there and I love the area. I live in Windsor so it's not too far of a trip. TJ
  13. Fishin Daddy-thanks for the very generous offer. I will contact you. Funny thing but with all of this fishing talk, I just winterized my boat...you may have heard that word before...lol. TJ
  14. Thank you all for the welcome. RoLo-I'd love to help you with the pike but we don't fish them much in this area. Most pike around here are incidental and not usually big, although we have nailed a few bigger fish deep on St.Clair recently...never did before! I can help with spring walleye on the Detroit R. It is relatively easy for anyone in the spring...incl the kids. Maltese-hey neighbour...fished Toho in 06 and 08 with shiners and a guide. My wife can't get time off so my sons and I are going with the boat. Time to see if I learned anything! Fishin Daddy-a very generous offer. Thank you and I will contact you. TJ
  15. I am looking forward to this new resource. If my responses to my first post are any indication, this is a very friendly community. I will fish for anything but I really enjoy bass and walleye fishing. Both smallies and largemouth, but mostly smallies as they are so plentiful here in Lks.St.Clair and Erie as well as the Detroit River. These waters surround me on the N, W and S. My sons enjoy fishing for anything and I try to travel and fish around Ontario with them. We are looking forward to FLA in March...Toho bass plus more! Take care. TJ
  16. Another proud Canadian here, but, sorry, I am no help on the Ottawa. Living in Windsor, Lakes St.Clair and Erie and the Detroit River are my stomping grounds...but March 2010 is our FLA trip for my 2 sons and I...with our boat! TJ
  17. We are planning to stay in the Kissimmee area and will fish Toho, maybe Teneroc. At Toho, probably do some shiner fishing but will definitely try some artificials. I will be looking for a few other lakes in the area to fish. Still in the planning stages right now. Thanks for the early replies. TJ
  18. My sons and I will be adventuring from the great white north (Canada) in March...with our boat. This is a great resource. I'll be asking a few questions in the near future. TJ
