  1. You can even get tips at some Wal marts. Heat the old one with a match and with a pair of needle nose pliers pull it off. Use a little two part epoxy and slide the new one on. Make sure it is lined up. You'll be as good as new.
  2. Three weeks and you've got that many bass!! Heck, I've been fishing for over 50 years and I went out, yesterday, to admittedly not a good place, and caught only one dink bass. And, I did better than a couple of other people I talked too. Remember, being out is not just about the fish. If that was all there was to it, you might as well just buy fish at a market. Just think of all the pretty lures and trinkets there are to buy yet!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I have filleted fish, of different kinds, leaving skin and scales on. Wash them good and after while, while still fresh, there will be more slime on them. This is really true with northern pike. They are really slimy. Slime on a live fish is rejuvenated quickly. I remember reading somewhere that slime actually comes off of a fish, as it swims and is constantly refreshed. Don't know if that is true. Any biologists want to chime in?
  4. A guy was really happy to show me the fish he caught. Pulled a stringer up that had more than the 5 bass limit that were all undersized. He was in the home area of a 13' alligator and the Fish and Wildlife do check boats at that landing. I just said have a nice day and kept going. I figured there was a good chance that either the alligator or game warden would take care of that.
  5. That guy should never, ever get off his couch! One time like that with me would be his last time.
  6. I live where I can do this; put them out in the back yard (brush and weeds) and in about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes the vultures will be in them. If they are still there after dark all the critters take them away.
  7. Just curious, is there a logical reason/use for a poll like this?
  8. I am in desperate need of a break from everything else that stops me from fishing. At one time, quite a few years ago, I fished everyday for a couple of months. I never needed a break. Oh for those days. Too answer your question; NO!!!!!
  9. You need to spend more time fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I had a problem like that on my Elite 4 (minus the chirp). I found out that there is a zoom feature. If you look at the lower left hand corner of the screen and in very small font is a 2 or 4, it is zoomed. Press the minus button until that disappears and the display may clear up. Another thing that helped was to turn off the auto sensitivity and reduce the sensitivity until the screen clears up. Reducing it too much will cause it to not show fish. Having it too high will show every little scrap of weed and blow it out of proportion. Mine might chirp but I wouldn't know it because my hearing is bad and I don't hear high frequency.
  11. Is there a common sense reason for that or is it just more political people control?
  12. If you make a fishing trip to Florida, don't put your fish on a stringer. That's a buffet for the local alligator. Depending on how strong your stringer is, that can be quite a problem. And, yes, I see it often enough for it to be mentioned.
  13. It won't really bother anything as long as it is still below the prop. It's there to protect the prop. Must have done it's job. Mine is bent and it does not affect the boat tracking at even full throttle. Bending that metal back can be a disaster. I've heard of people getting it bent back straight and I've heard of people breaking it right off.
  14. You think you can master one of those beasts in one weekend? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are fooling only yourself. I started as a kid with a 5' steel rod in the 50's. Even now, I will get a backlash. Usually when changing one rigged rod for another one. I normally have 6 rods of varying lengths rigged up so I can change quickly. Going from a 5.5' rod with a top water to a 6.5' rod with a fluke and any other combination you can think of I will get in a hurry and end up with a backlash. I've caught a few nice fish with my lure laying on the bottom while picking out a "professional over run". I got the smallest crochet hook my wife had and keep it in a tackle box. It helps pick those messes out.
  15. 3/8 ounce white with willow leaf blade spinner bait Zoom trick worm, watermelon red, t-rig weightless
  16. Just another piece of something to take up more room in the boat and doesn't do anymore than I can do without it.
  17. Like flyfisher said, don't try to move away from something, move to something. If you are wanting to move to get away from something, it WILL follow you. I live in Fl. and believe me, there are bad points, such as, the temp started being in the 90's in May and in June we had over 100 (in our yard) very often. Working and playing in that kind of temp has it's limitations. The hot months are yet to come. There is no place that is perfect. If you just pack up and move, you may find there are more bad points than where you came from. And, usually, if you have spent quite a bit burning your bridges behind you, you can't afford to pack up and go back. Sometimes, if things (job, family, location, etc.) aren't just what you want, maybe, just maybe, an attitude adjustment is in order. Over a lot of years, I've found out it's really easy to get everything I want, just have to change my wants once in a while.
  18. I fished with a friend that used white trick worms, t-rig, weightless while I was using my favorite watermelon red, the same way. He caught more fish than I did all the while I was telling him a real fisherman would not use a white worm.
  19. It ain't dumb if it works.
  20. I like the way they float at rest, with just part of the back out of the water. I have an all white one that I put a yellow stripe the length of each side (sexy shad) and a black dot on it. I used the yellow spike it and a q-tip to put the stripe on. When the bass were busting shad I threw it in the middle of the mess and let it sit. The bass busted it. Only got into this specific situation once but is was fun.
  21. I decided to remodel the kitchen in our old single wide trailer. Now, it's worth more than the entire trailer was worth. I've got advice for anyone else that want's to think about doing that. "Match"
  22. Johnson silver spoon with white grub trailer, Producto buzz tail shad, black shad, t-rigged and weightless, Zoom swimmin super fluke, white ice, t-rigged and weightless.
  23. Island on west side and the irregular shoreline around the Island; Jetties on east side
  24. I've tried putting the line weight on the reels, but it always wears off.
