  1. Pull it over/through dense lily pads and kill it as it comes off the last pad.
  2. Do I struggle there? Nope! I figure if I've seen them, they've seen me. I back out and look for similar water and cast to it before I get close enough to see the fish.
  3. For several years we didn't get the rain we needed to keep the small lakes up where they should be. Some were so low (how low Johnny) we couldn't launch a boat and some not even a canoe. Now, this year we have had loads of rain in what is normally the dry season. The lakes are up, way up. The last three times I've been out, on three different bodies of water, I did not catch one fish. The water is way, way out in the woods. In one lake, I actually ran my boat up into the woods (with the trolling motor). I was tossing a worm up in the brush. Didn't catch anything, but I was fishing in the woods. I am wondering, now, what is going to be the new normal, this year.
  4. Driving across country, stopped for gas and went into the station to use the bathroom. When I came back out an attendant showed me some oil, under the front of the car, right next to a tire. He tried the old scam of a leaking shock. He tried to convince me that I was endangering the lives of my family by not getting it fixed. I was tired and had a long way to drive and I didn't even discuss it with him, just left and went on my way.
  5. Up which river? I hooked two muskies just north of the main creek bridge and saw one that was the biggest musky (alive or mounted) that I have ever seen. It was in a little patch of lily pads just below that big house on the hill, there on the west side of the river. Has main creek gotten cleaner? I know, cleaner that what! There was a farmer, upstream, that used to winter and feed some of his cattle on the ice. Cow manure can really make a mess of a stream that size.
  6. If you don't use a metal leader, of some kind, in Lake Holcombe, you will be giving lures away to the northern pike and musky. Go right across the road from your house and you will find "toothy fishes" that have no respect for fishing line.
  7. PM sent
  8. I've searched everything I know how to and can't find a list of people who custom pour plastics. I would like to contact some one that may be able to do that for me.
  9. Look up Earth box instructions. I made and used one and they work well. A friend had them in his "Florida room" and picked strawberries and cucumbers all year long. They are great for people who don't have room for a garden. You can end up with a garden on your porch or balcony.
  10. I guess there a few others that feel the same way. I've had 9 "likes" on my comment.
  11. None and I don't want to hear yours, either!!!!!!!
  12. Just for the fun of it, I took a 1/2 pound bluegill and hung it from a tree limb with very light line. I had my wife stand behind the fish with a rope in her hands. Got it all lined up and snapped the picture. That fish looked like it had to weigh at least 100 pounds. Some uneducated people actually believed that picture. I lost that picture in a 'puter crash. I'm going to do that again and save the picture. Sometimes the picture is not "quite right". I've seen pictures where the shadows didn't even go the same direction. I watched a fishing show where the pro caught a fish of about 1 1/2 pounds. Everytime he referred to that fish it got bigger. By the time the show was over that was a quality fish of about 5 or 6 pounds.
  13. While my tomatoes were growing good, I ate BLTs everyday. I have found out that you can eat too much of a good thing. I worked, part time, in a pizza shop. After I left there, it was several years 'til I could eat pizza, again.
  14. I once was served, in Germany, fresh blood sausage that was still warm. Took about 6 beers to get the taste out of my mouth.
  15. I was in a Wal-Mart, (not my local but within 35 miles) a couple of weeks ago. They had several tables of "stuff" on sale. There were two plastic boxes of lures marked down to .50. Not marked down 50 cents but actually priced at 50 cents. I grabbed a couple of Strike King spinner baits and a couple of other plugs. There was no limit on how much you could buy. I saw one guys cart with the bottom completely covered. Let's face it, at those prices, if you had a tackle shop, you could buy the stuff cheaper there than you could from your wholesaler. Those boxes emptied out that day. A fishing buddy went over there the next morning and there was no tackle on sale.
  16. I have several Rapala floating minnows that are now key chain fobs. Those little (2-3') gators are quick and they like to lay in the weeds and ambush anything that moves and is smaller than they are. After they've crushed the lure and wrecked it, they give it back. I fish in an area where there was a 13 foot gator. I'd drift through very quietly and he would slide off of the bank and float around near me and roar once in a while. When he would roar, I knew that I was closer than I should be so I would slowly and quietly move on out. I know he was 13' because I talked to the guy that killed him during a legal hunt. I miss seeing that old gator.
  17. Strike King Red Eye Shad, KVD 1.5 and 2.5 squarebill, Rapala floating minnow and Zara Spook.
  18. Those solunar tables are written at least a year ahead of time and maybe more. The person writing them can have absolutely no idea or concept of local environment or weather systems. I understand the concept of sun/moon rise and setting, and tides, but the local weather has a great affect on "catching". As preciously stated, I get to go fishing so seldom that when I get a chance, I go. Tables are of no concern at all.
  19. Without having it in my hand or watching it in the water, there is no way of knowing for sure what is wrong. I have had spinner baits (not Terminator) that a blade will sometimes catch on the skirt. I just spread the wires a little bit and it was okay. This usually happened, for me, from using it a lot.
  20. C-rigs, I see no sense in that set up, at all. Buzz baits. I know I've scared more fish with one than I've ever caught on one. But, I love to throw a buzz tail shad.
  21. I've thrown a large, jointed lure on a spinning outfit and it will "helicopter". Throw the same lure on a baitcaster, with a little tension on the brake, and it won't "helicopter". Just that little bit of tension on the line will stop a lot of the tangles.
  22. The best ones I've found, in the $20. range are Spiderwire. I found them at Sports Academy. They are the only ones, in that range, that did not somehow distort my vision.
  23. Ditto just about everything previously said. And, figuring out exactly where there should be a bass, making the perfect cast and getting bit. " I love it when a plan comes together"!!!
  24. When they pull up and anchor right where my ultra light jig has been landing, that is too close. I told them that they were sitting on a tree that the fish were in and if they pulled away from it we could both fish it. They turned their back to me and kept fishing where there were no fish and they caught nothing. I just left. Just like someone else has said, ignorance can be cured, stupid is for life.
