  1. Alone. Fishing is my alone time. When fishing with someone else, if I get snagged I have to deal with it, if they get snagged, I have to deal with it. I have passed up good places to cast into so the person in the back can have it. He either couldn't hit the spot or wouldn't. Therefore, neither of us fished the spot. I finally told him I was not going to pass up anymore spots to cast into. He doesn't go with me anymore and that is a good thing for a lot of reasons. Not the least of which is the cost of fishing was NEVER shared. Alone with my Maker is best.
  2. You can't stop anyone from taking anything they want. I had an outboard stolen off my boat, in my yard, while I was home asleep. A friend came in off the water and his car wouldn't start (at a landing). Some one had dug under his car to make room so they could take his starter. At a small lake, where some friends live, there is no public access. Someone came in one night and stole everything there was in the boats at the docks in front of the houses. Outboards, trolling motors, tackle, etc. A friend that had a cabin in northern Wis. had snowmobilers come through the woods to his cabin, broke into a shed and stole the wheels off of his riding mower. It happens all the time everywhere.
  3. Hey guy, can't you tell by the cross right in front, that's a skunk ape's chapel.
  4. You beat me to it. I cracked up when I read your answer.
  5. There were so many millions of them made, I think they would have to be really old to be of any value other than good lures for fishing.
  6. One of the things I've found out about BPS and Cabellas sale items is often the item is something that didn't sell throughout the year, for whatever reason. I've looked at kits, like that, before and found that very little of what was in the kit was what I would use. But, it's not a lot of money for the amount you get. Maybe, you will find a new best color.
  7. I, absolutely, do not understand all of this. If this big piece of something fell, why was there not an accident report made? If that had been done, there would not have to be any anonymous phone calls or e-mails. I have limited experience with unions, but, aren't they suppose to be concerned with worker safety? Is this guy a safety hazard or not?
  8. X3 on the tetanus shot. Keep it updated. Might be the most important preventive shot you can get.
  9. I tried to skip a worm under a dock, last week, and I hit the water at the wrong angle and the worm bounced off the water and landed on the dock. Man, that upsets me but it came off the dock alright. I say that because I have to relate to other peoples inconsideration/rudeness. I live on a fenced acre lot with woods on two sides and a road in front. I don't like people running their ATVs along the side of my fence and I am darned tired of picking up the trash, i.e., broken beer bottles, cans, fast food trash, out of my drive ways and the ditch in front of my property. I have fished docks and will continue to do so and I am well aware of who owns the water/fish and the docks. But there are so many people out there that are careless and don't know how to use their tackle. A friend and I were fishing a canal that had some expensive boats docked. Another person, in a fancy bass boat with a church's name on it came through. The guy thought he was something special and was trying to cast like Ish Monroe can. Unfortunately he is not that good. His jig landed on an expensive canvas top on an expensive boat and was caught in the material. He went over and pulled the jig out of the material and kept fishing. I told the guy I was fishing with, you know, he has that new bass boat with the church's name on it and we are fishing out of a rough looking 30 year old stumpknocker. If that boat owner sees that hole in his boat cover, I wonder who's he's going to blame. We left the canals and went somewhere else to fish. That kind of fool is one of the reasons the rest of us aren't welcome around docks and boats.
  10. They can't put anything on the internet that isn't true, can they?
  11. During the dog days of summer, the muskies lose their teeth. That's why you can't catch them at that time of the year.
  12. Any one of the many comments I could make would more than likely get me booted.
  13. 6 inches from side to side? Sounds to me like you got into some one's bull frog pond. Those aren't for bait. They're for eating.
  14. Run out of plastics? I can't!
  15. I've never used those whistles and I've never hit a deer, but, I have stopped dead in the road to let them run across the road in front of me. I've stopped and looked at deer that were standing broadside in the road looking at me. I've seen a lot of deer hit, in Michigan. Noises don't really scare deer unless it is associated with something that hurts them. Unfortunately, getting hit by a vehicle with a whistle is not something they remember. It is often fatal. Deer whistles probably made a lot of money for the guy that dreamed them up. I think they fit right in with banjo minnows and helicopter lures.
  16. I know a split shot rig works, but, I'm always a little careless with the split shot, on mono and end up breaking the mono. I've found an alternative that works for me. Drill out the center of an air rifle pellet, either .17 or .22. Thread the line through it and then a rubber bobber stop and whatever length of line to the hook. Ultra light C-rig! Fairly weedless and no crimped line.
  17. I like the more sophisticated bass that like a little salad with their meal. Sorry, the devil made me do it.
  18. I would find them in my yard, when I lived in Michigan. But, two years in a row, I got caught in a blizzard while hunting morels on Mother's day weekend. That's one of the reasons I'm now in Florida and raise shitakes.
  19. Don't know the brands, but, they cost $1.00 at Wally world and $1.49 at Academy sports.
  20. Oh my gosh! I think you've spent too much time, up the hill there, walking around in that bull manure. Ha! Ha!
  21. I use 30lb braid on a Mitchell 300 and a medium action rod. I can cast a trick worm, with no weight, a long way. Fishing shoreline, from a boat I have to be careful to keep the worm out of the brush. Some line butter helps, too. I always cast a stick worm (senko?), super fluke, horny toad, all weightless with a baitcaster and 50 or 65lb braid. Again, some line butter helps. Just don't try for any distance records straight into the wind. It all takes practice. There are people that look at me strangely while I'm casting in my yard.
  22. I really respect anyone that can teach children. Especially anyone that cares about the kids. I would never be a good teacher. I teach anyone like my dad taught me. I told you once, now do it. I'll tell you a story about passing a multiple guess test. It was while I was in the Air Force. We always had a class and test on something. One day I was in a ornerier than normal mood, so I took the test like this. Question one, look at my watch, the second hand is in the 2nd quadrant, the answer is B. Went through the entire test that way and yes I passed.
  23. How much you 'wanna' bet, none of the people that leave that trash ever read this forum? I would lay odds, they don't own a computer, never owned property, were never in the scouts and their house probably looks just like the fishing spot they just left.
  24. Spiderwire, in my opinion is the best for the money. About$20.00. Found mine at academy sports. For the price you can get both, a pair of amber and one of grey.
  25. I wouldn't mind having about a nickel for every gallon of beer I drank. Could probably have a really nice bass boat.
