  1. There was a place and time where a woman kept calling and would not stop even though I told her to put me on her no call list. One ornery day, she called and I told her that I thought prostitution was a far more honorable profession. She hung up and never called again.
  2. Most of the people I have seen throwing cat (or any other animal) food, in the St. John's or Oklawaha, are mullet fishing.
  3. Went to mine and I was a day late. The hooks were there with the price tags, but empty.
  4. Cool !!!
  5. When I fished in Wisconsin and Michigan I used the Johnsons Silver spoon a lot. I knew nothing about fishing plastics, but, I used a grape or black worm with a red curly tail or a white trick worm as a trailer. I thought that's the only way to use those worms. I fished them mainly in lily pads and they worked well for bass and pike. Now, in Florida, I have gone "retro" and started using them more in all kinds of weeds and grass. In Roland Martin's book, 101 bass-catching secrets, he has a chapter (41) on using those spoons.
  6. Probably the dumbest I've seen. Fishing on the Ocklawaha river, in Florida, I came around a bend, where a 13 foot long alligator lived (I know it was 13' because the guy that got it one season told me about it) and I saw a guy sitting in the middle of the river. Stopped and asked how he was doing. He pulled up a stringer that had 10 bass on it (limit is 5) all under a foot long (size limit is 14") and told me he was having a really good day. I couldn't think of anything really sensible to say so just left. As I went around him, I wondered who was going to get him first, the game warden or the 'gator.
  7. Trixie Shark, watermelon red and 3/8 oz white spinner bait.
  8. Zoom trick worm.
  9. I thought fishing and hunting was sport. Everything else seems to me a bunch of overpaid people playing kids games with balls (pun not intended) of different sizes and shapes.
  10. Nothing worked, today. Saw the front coming (line of clouds). Should have left 4 hours before I did.
  11. A guy unhooked a bowfin, on a fishing pier, it's flopping all over the place. A really intelligent female tourist hollers at her friends to come see the walking catfish.
  12. That's been done for years. There is probably some "waste" but it works. I fished one small reservoir that was routinely stocked that way with rainbow trout. There's places where there is no other way to get the fish to the lake.
  13. I'm going to catch it in a body of water just a few miles from my house. Doug Hannon said that is a good place for one to be.
  14. Any Patsy Cline or Tennessee Ernie Ford
  15. I have a question about that hunk of bone. Now that we believe we know what it is, does that make the bass bite better? Just asking.
  16. I thought there was only one standard fishing snack. Vienna Sausage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. USAF 1960-1980
  18. I have the Pro Max on a 7' heavy duty rod with 65 lb. braid line. I have used the same rod for pike, but, the only reel I had was an Ambassador 6500. I wore the reel out and put he Pro Max on that rod. Now, living in Florida, I don't fish for pike, but I use it for bass. I tell you this to explain that I have experience with tackle for pike. I would not hesitate to use that set up for pike. I think that if you fish every day, you can wear out any reel. If you fish like I do, only 3 or 4 times a month, and use several different set ups, it will last a long time.
  19. I "skin" hook my plastic, too, with an EWG. However, working that through "stuff" will wear the plastic at the hook point and it will snag. I like to not push the hook all the way through the plastic if I'm dragging through heavy stuff.
  20. Or, if you're righthanded cast left handed. Either way, practice, practice, practice. For me it was also a lot of yard fishing and untangling from shrubs and trees. That's easier to do standing on the ground than balancing in a boat.
  21. They called me and wanted to know if I wanted to renew. I told them NO. Those magazines that are for two months are so thin, they don't amount to much. And, I counted 6 full page pictures. One of "Flo", what a thrill and there were several of guys, in a boat, catching a fish. Another big thrill. Those full page pictures could have been some informative articles. I know costs are going up but I'm not going to pay so much for so little. Just not worth it.
