  1. I'll be coming Friday. If anyone wants the backseat, shoot me a PM
  2. Buy the best quality reel you can afford. Sure you can learn on a fifty dollar reel, but when you're more experienced you're not going to want it - trust me. Why not learn on a good quality reel and have it forever.
  3. It's never too shallow (almost) to Carolina Rig imo. Just match your weight size to the depth. I'd use 1/2 for the depth you're talking about, but that's just me. I think most would go heavier.
  4. You can use half a cinder block for the anchor, or anything similar. Get some rope from walmart (I prefer 3 strand twisted nylon) but anything will do. Just tie the rope to the cinder block and drop it over when you want to anchor. I can't speak as to any of your other questions...
  5. I'm looking iffy for Friday. Might end up having to work
  6. Nice fish Wagn! I've been looking for that one. I don't have a 5 yet this year either. Took second last night in a Friday Night T on Contoocook Lake. Nothing special for fish, I don't think we even had one over 3. I couldn't fish today, so my T partner fished with his 8 year old son on the CT River. They took second out of 31 boats and had a 5.76 (or thereabouts) and 1 other fish over 5! Limit of 4 smallies/4 largemouth I believe. Nice paycheck for a day of fishing.
  7. I'm a firm believer that your presentation is directly proportional to your catch rate, (maybe not on the easy days - but most of the time) meaning that in general, the better your presentation is, the more fish you will catch.
  8. My vote (for whatever it's worth) is for Franklin Pierce.
  9. mmmmmmm standing timber. My kinda fishing. haha. Might be a little far for me though. Solid 2 hours. Then again, I'm about an hour west of most here
  10. Powerbait all the way. I have so much confidence in using them without any additional scents.
  11. Someone's welcome to fish out of the back of the Skeeter.
  12. Back on the river today by myself from 10 til 7. Ended up with about a dozen but found some more areas holding fish for the tourney. It's so hard to let them be and not catch them! Best of the day was 4 pounds 10 oz. Lost 1 bigger one. I gotta stop with the losing fish thing.
  13. No pictures today. It was a good day, but a bad day all at the same time. I was prefishing for a tourney this weekend with my T partner. He boated a 4.9 on a frog, then I lost a fish that we both agreed was bigger at the boat on a T rigged tube. Then he caught a solid 3.5 on a chigger craw. I boated a 4 and had another solid 3.5 pop off midway to the boat, both on chigger craws. Fish are in their summer patterns here; post spawn is over. We had smaller fish before, in between and after the bigger ones. Lots of things went wrong, though, including many, many missed/lost fish, fish jumping out of the boat before picture ops and me breaking a rod on a hookset. It was one of those days where we really did do pretty well, but it doesn't feel like it at all. Oh well. Hope we can get the same big bites during the tourney.
  14. I'd love to come. I think Friday is a good day to do it. Better than the weekend. All those places are new to me, too, so I have no preference either.
  15. Surprised you did well. Catching a fish on the first cast, especially a big one, is nooottt good Nice fish!
  16. It's a 2000 Skeeter ZX185 with a 150 Yamaha VMAX. The only things that "need" to be done to the boat "need" to be done because of my OCD. Things like replacing the plastic latches with stainless. Everything works perfectly, though and the motor especially is in absolutely perfect condition. Wagn, I don't bring him on trips where I want to fish hard. He chews like a madman and I have to keep one eye on him at all times. The only rod out while hes with me is the one in my hand so he doesn't get hooked. What I'll do is bring him to the island for a run as soon as we get to the lake, then I'll fish while he sleeps/plays with his toys. When he starts getting hyper we'll go back to the island and repeat. It works really well, actually. A hyper dog on a boat (with hooks!) is a recipe for disaster. You just have to keep them occupied. Picture was taken on the old boat
  17. I took the new (to us) boat out today for the first time on the CT River. Caught 7 in the pads and had another 8 or 10 boils on the frog. The fish wouldn't commit with the bright sun and lack of wind. Then after mom and dad got home from work we all went out to just relax. I did a little fishing and ended up with 1 fish - a 4-9 largemouth.
  18. Cool! Nice job getting the club started. Me and my tourney fishing partner (one of my teachers) did the same thing. There are a lot of save the whales type people at my school so we formally named it the wildlife conservation club, although everyone calls it the fishing club. We've helped the state stock salmon, helped at kids trout derbies and gotten some recognition in the local paper for it too! We're hosting a bass tourney July, 17. Shoot me a PM if you want to bounce any ideas back and forth regarding getting new clubs up and running. Hoodie and hat - the hoodie has the same logo as the hat on the left chest but with a black fish and white letters
  19. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewluckycraftrcsupreme.html Check out the above link deak...They don't look like the most durable baits. Shane - Nice pig. Was that fish caught today?
  20. Should have said 5 right from the start. Nobody would have questioned you! Good to see everyone doing well lately. I think the post spawn blues may be beginning to wear off in most bigger lakes. I caught 13 Friday night with 4 over 3 pounds and I've been off the water since then. Our boat needs a new trailer and since it's an 89 we decided to upgrade a little to a ~10 year old boat in the 18 foot range give or take (If anyone knows of anything I'd appreciate a heads up). On a side note, if anyone's interested in a 1989 16 foot deep V Tracker with new power, let me know. 2 fish finders, GPS, everything works, just needs a trailer.
  21. Although it may be hard to comprehend for those of us who have been fishing for years, some of these people don't mean any harm, they just don't know any better. Those are the ones I don't make a big deal of. The ones who know full well what they're doing are the ones who get hell.
  22. It's not bass fishing but what the hell...we took our saltwater boat out of Hampton yesterday and ended up with our limit of cod in a couple hours. 10 cod over 20 pounds with 1 at 35 and 1 at 30. We were tossing back 10 pounders because we knew we could catch bigger fish to fill our limit! 35 in my right hand and 30 in my left hand
  23. Nice fish UNH. Great morning.
  24. Got out tonight with my dad for the first time in a while. We brought the puppy for his first trip on the boat! He's 9 weeks old and we just got him Sunday. We managed to catch 5 or 6 largies/smallies in a few minutes of fishing before the little guy wanted to go play on the island and swim some more.
  25. Yea, how bout just seeing what the towing capacity of you vehicle is? It usually says on the bumper right by the hitch.....
