  1. I'm out for this one. Parents only let me skip school for saltwater fishing
  2. I keep the drags on my baitcasters locked down. If the fish needs to run, I hit freespool real quick and thumb the spool. Works for me.
  3. 3 over 6 for me last year, but this year I only have one over 5! Could be because I'm always fishing tournaments but I don't think so. Something's a little off for more than just us this year.
  4. A friend of mine gut hooked a fish in a tourney with a ~70 boat field (aka good money). He left the hook in, thinking that he was doing the right thing. Wrong! A 1/2 pound was deducted from his total weight due to his leaving the hook in the fishes throat. That moved him from 2nd to 4th. Needless to say, he wasn't very happy.
  5. Most of the ponds in Jaffrey/Rindge are good fishing and Hubbard is no exception. Some are even better than good, you just have to find which ones!
  6. Yep...That's the beauty of fishing there. You never know what you're gonna get. Pike, walleye, state record carp :-? haha. That and of course there are biig bass.
  7. Windy's an understatement. We fished a tourney there about a month back (happened to be dead calm tourney day) and the three times we prefished it was a wind tunnel! The average size of the fish went down the day of the t when the wind dropped off. Good luck guys!
  8. Food. In most other parts of the country panfish are a popular food fish. Went freshwater fishing today for the first time in almost 3 weeks. Caught about a half dozen bass and this walleye while prefishing for a tourney on sat. I caught 2 that were around 3 pounds and the rest were dinks. That measuring board is a little more than 22"
  9. Not going to be able to make it unfortunately. Have fun guys! Would anyone be up for a get together in, say, early October or something? We'll have that good fall bite going on and the lakes wont be busy. Just a thought....
  10. Just got home from vacation and saw this...not sure if I'm going to be able to make it or not. We'll see.
  11. Glad to see everyone's doing well and catching fish. I've been on vacation and haven't touched a freshwater rod in 2 weeks. The idea of catching a bunch of fish around 3 pounds just doesn't seem all that exciting anymore Been doing too much of this kinda stuff:
  12. Without ever seeing the pond I'd be looking for good weedbeds in deeper water. Fish them slowly during the day. Finesse fishing deep during summer = bigger fish and better numbers. Just my 2 cents.
  13. I built a deck today. Does that count for anything? :-? Nice fish unh. Your son must have been loving it!
  14. ooohhhhh....makes mucho sense! Thanks!
  15. Sounds like a good morning Shane. Nice fish. Question - any particular reason for the keel weighted hook vs a bullet weight?
  16. I'll take a pig cod over a big largie any day! Love the salt. Can't beat the fast action, either. Sounds like a great day.
  17. I don't know about anyone else, but the fishing has been great for me lately. Lots of bass with 8 over 4 plus one over 5 in the last week. My bass thumb is incredibly sore and started bleeding today ;D Fished for 4 hours today in the afternoon and this was the biggest out of 15 or 16. Three over 4 today. Sigsbee was loving all the fish. He even got a rock bass or two to play with. He doesn't try to chew my rods/baits anymore and knows that a hookset (usually) means a fish. He gets angry when I miss fish. lol
  18. Awesome guys. Figuring out a new lake is the best.
  19. Wagn that was hilarious! Can't say I've ever seen a bass faxed before How bout the 'merger' of the 'acquisition' back into the water. Priceless. Awesome vid! Like the soundtrack too!
  20. Matt - nice job. Sounds like a great day! Went out for a few hours tonight to the pond I caught that big pike at earlier this year (also where my pb 6-7 came from). Come to find out, there are almost no pads there now so I decided to fish deep > That paid off. First C-rig fish ever was 5-3 (baby bass color Zoom fluke). Only fish of the night for me. My friend caught one little guy on a t-rigged tube and that was it. But fishing deep proved to be successful. Once it started getting dark I switched to a 10" Power Worm on the c-rig and had 2 hits before we were chased off the water by the storms. One dropped it and the other I missed. I'm going to have to explore c-rigging more though. It's fun. This fish had something biiig in her belly. Short but fat.
  21. I sucked hard in a tourney yesterday, but went to prefish for an upcoming tourney today at Island Pond. I only had 3 hours and I had never been there before, so I didn't have high expectations. The first fish I caught (4-7) is in my left hand, the second (which looks a lot smaller than it actually was) in my right. I ended up with 2 over 4 plus about half a dozen more over 3. Awesome day. All flipping pads with a Chigger Craw.
  22. Matt - I had a great time even though the fishing was slooow. You're welcome on the boat any time. It was great to meet everyone, although I do have to admit, when I saw Anglers Inc. pulling up I was like huhhhh? haha. That was awesome! Nice fish wagn and the shot of the Skeeter is cool! I'll have to save that. Thanks
  23. http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/features/x104356352/Marlborough-womans-big-fish-tale Just ask the guy in this article. I betcha he catches at least 3 5's every trip :
  24. that is exactly where it is. It's a big area on the right just after the bridge if you are coming from 202. Sounds good bwillis. My cell is 440-3009 if you want to give me a call in the AM if you are going to make it there early. Here are the coordinates for the launch to plug into the GPS if you have one: N42 57.340' / W71 56.141" OK...here's a potential list of people and partners. If anyone else already has a partner, let me know and I'll amend this: Myself (Jay) and bwillis Wagn and guest (NH froggin?) fmoore and NH Bass fishing Shane J & NHfisher- nashua fisherman and guest UNHbass and bassmaster6 badcrawdad and guest It looks like we may still need a spot for NHfroggin unless he is with one of the other boats already. If not, we can try to squeeze 3 into my boat. It's only 18 feet, but we can give it a shot! Final note for everyone, get ready and bring the heavy line. This place has a good amount of weeds, and there are some big fish in there! Jay NHfroggin pm'd me and had planned to come on my boat.
  25. Small tourney last night. 9 boats. Ended up in second with a 10.38 pound bag plus I caught the lunker in a weed bed on a wacky rigged Senko. She went 4.64. We caught lots of dinks last night.
