  1. Josh, hang in there. Endure the harsh criticisms. Be a champ! The day will come when in one of our prestigious * tournaments where you will hook into the 8 pounder, bring it to the weigh in, and just start swinging it around slapping every naysayer in the face with it. In the face. Then everyone will text you, and be your friend.
  2. Dan, don't say that. You don't mean it. Catching northern while fishing for bass is one of the saddest things to happen in a boat. Not only does it take twice as long to get the stupid thing in, half of the time it brakes your line and it costs you a pretty penny. I have had mornings where i fish with 20 pound test and from 7 till 2 in the afternoon, lose 6 jigs to northern. It is expensive and if your trying to catch bass, they just won't let it happen. Oh, and the times they don't snap you off, you have to retie. They are a nightmare. Jay, good to see you. I'm guessing however on this sight, posting fish that you keep is probably the wrong idea. I have not seen too many that keep em. And to be honest, i doubt many guys here will take you in their boat to some good spots if they know your the type that would end up keeping them in the future. Just food for thought. With that said, this is an incredible forum and it has great competition. We will be getting some pretty nasty tournaments going come spring time that will be a blast.
  3. ooo, man. Just seven. What made it so hard today? You figure the weather played a role or is it just winter time fishin? I was wondering how you guys fared today. Tough luck. Any fish stories? Bigguns get away? Musky?
  4. best advice to you for these lakes, get there early and bring a pen and paper, and watch where the avid fisherman motor off to and stop. These lake get so much pressure and your best bet is following others in the beginning. This is the boat i am in right now. I doubt people are going to tell you where there 8 pound largemouth honey hole is. Become the bass bandit and put your time into it. I am going to start this pretty soon. Sometimes you just have to watch others fish to catch the fish.
  5. great advice, thanks guys
  6. Well, count me in. I'm sure this is a first come first serve for positions in the boat. If there are any open spots, count me in. VABASSER, if you have an opening, i wouldn't mind tagging along. And, if it turns out there is nothing left, i will bring up the ghetto raft. Don't make fun of it. Its got soul.
  7. Hey, i am looking to buy a dependable depth finder within the next month. I am going to spend less than a hundred. What do you guys advise? What have you seen to be the most dependable?
  8. Hey, so i am gonna get a new depth finder within the next month and can not spend more than a hundred dollars. What do you guys advise looking for? What seems to be a dependable purchase?
  9. Lake Anna, yeh, i will be there. Game face on and ready to rip some lips
  10. That sounds like fun, i am thinkin about going as well. I might just keep the bigger bait on though and give it a shot for a bigger gal. Might give the old raft a whirl at it. I must be weird or something but i am just not afraid to get skunked. I can endure like a champ. Again, thanks quan for the maps. Should be interesting trying to find the brush piles with no depth finder. But, i am stubborn and probably will fish the whole area till i find it. Are people feeling a tournament of sorts or just a leisure outing on the Burke?
  11. Man today was nasty, but i think at the end of the tournament everyone realized that they each sucked it up today. There is really no room for excuses. Team Soccplayer07 did indeed take the gold. It should be noted, that not only did they get one more fish than me and quan, every little bass they had was a few ounces bigger than ours. Tough day, but fun and nice to meet people. I have a feeling that this is a good group of guys and will be a great learning forum for sharing the hot spots (don't worry, i'll contribute once i get out a little more). Not one fish was over 2 pounds for anyone today. One kicker fish could have won it for any team. I hurt quan today by sticking with big baits for too long. It was a gamble that did not pay off. Because of this, quan contributed 3 to the livewell and i only put 2 in their. Looks like Burke is next fellas.
  12. I will have the last post for the night. The Lion does not need his sleep. Sleep away little kittens, sleep. This paddle boat will be ready to go.
  13. Hey quanjig, i'm gettin the feeling that most people here know this reservoir pretty well. I have that strange feeling that at the sound of the buzzer, everyone will jet off to their majic hotspot while you and i paddle along the shore line searching for something... Since we only have a John boat it only seems fair that we get to weigh in 8 fish. I am sure that everyone will be ok with that. With that said, i have this sixth sense feeling that we will be rippin a lot of lips on saturday, and whats this...Quanjig and Shimmy in the 5 foot boat paddle towards the weigh in, all four arms are needed to lift the bulging bag of fish, they are then placed on the scale, a new record is set, everyone cheers and then takes shimmy and quanjig to lunch.
  14. what ramp our we planning on meeting at? I googled regional park, and couldn't find the ramp. I did notice there was a fountainhead regional park launch ramp. Advantage here is it looks like they rent out boats here as well.
  15. Good to see the trash talkin begin! Now here is the only problem, a 5 fish limit i just don't think is realistic since half the boats won't have livewells. I'm thinkin we do this and meet at 8, split off and meet back at the ramp at 3. If you have the fish to weigh, great. If you have the picture with the fish on a scale, just as good. And Sunday, let the posting begin! Hey quanjig, we can double up if you want. I have to warn you i have never fished the river and if your lookin for a hot spot, i have no idea. However, i have a feeling that we could still put a pretty good fight in. MAN AWARDS 1. Biggest fish 2. Heaviest 2 fish or 5 fish limit Dan, good job for gettin the names goin.
  16. I agree, your parents probably have a block on pictures and certain websites. Tough luck. Looks like you'll have to create your own big bass pictures.
  17. Wow, that took some balls to say something like that. Very impressive.
  18. What i am starting to realize here is that the winter time proves to be a hard to time to finalize a place to have a tournament. I am wondering if people will hold strong for Saturday. As of now it sounds like there might be three boats and that may be less by now. Im also thinking that whoever does go fishing on Saturday either at Burke or anywhere else should post their two biggest bass on the website and we'll see who's the weekend champ. Not sure how to stop the cheatin though... However, i am still down if people are feeling that itch on Burke. I wish it was easier to do a headcount on this sight. Haven't quite outsmarted myself as to how to do one yet.
  19. Alright, lets just say Burke lake. By the sounds of the types of boats that will be available, lets just say Burke. This will be the easiest to coordinate and if shore fisherman come, we can figure out how we will set the rules for this as well later on. Burke lake, i know nothing about it but that its hard which should make this pretty fun. Shore fisherman should have a partner as well.
  20. Worse case scenario, i have a raft with a trolling motor that can fit two if needed. Who has boats that wouldn't mind sharing this weekend???? Doesn't need to be fancy, a john boat would work.
  21. thats a good idea as well 420. With this little tourny, i was under the assumption that we are going to have boats. Worse case scenario is that a few teams have a small john boat or raft. I have a bigger raft that does fine and if thats the best people can bring i say we do it anyways. I'd prefer this not to be a shore fishing tourny.
  22. Its sounding like Burke and Potomac are the main front runners. And as someone mentioned, this is something that i'm hoping we keep up in the future especially during the spawn. I am thinkin we need a head count. I have heard several people mention they would like to but it would be nice to get a bunch of teams and the rules will eventually follow. By the sounds of it, potomac might offer the best chance for numbers but it might be harder for everyone to meet up at a spot. I think Burke might be the easiest to coordinate but the hardest to fish. Either way, a head count is needed so we can start getting teams and anyone else that jumps in during the week can join in as well.
  23. well whoever my partner is better know the water that we hit because i will be worthless in terms of knowing the lakes around here. But it would be fun to hit a harder one like Burke and see how we fare out. I think quanjig might be in as well. He knows the lake pretty well it sounds like. Any other lake suggestions or should we plan on it and get 3 to 4 teams of 2 if we can? Biggest weight of two fish wins?
  24. Hey c17, i wish i could take credit for catching a lot of fish on those videos but the reality is this. Imagine a great lake near by where no one and i mean no one goes on. No one to keep the fish, no shore fisherman, like you said, Virgin lakes. There are so many of them, you can hit one that hasn't been hit for months. The best ones get hit the same way an average lake gets hit on like a tuesday. Now it still takes skill to catch big ones consistantly but to be honest about the numbers, you could throw out your bare hook and you'll catch one almost any cast. It is unbelievable. Down side is, state record is 8 lb 15 oz hence why not many people bombard it like Mexico. It is the greatest place in the country in my opinion for catching numbers. We average over a 100 fish in the boat everyday. Not exaggerating. Any MN fisherman reading this would agree.
  25. This upcoming saturday i say we hammer one out. Now, the one thing i do know is that littlehuntingcreek may not be catchin any giants recently but he sure seems to catchin alot. Definite props to him. If anyone has a chance to get the limit, it would be him. As for those who enjoy the bigger tossed baits, it could be interesting. Fun, but interesting none the less. Maybe we initiate the rule that you keep your two biggest bass. While tossing the big bait i'm pretty sure gettin two bass alone will be a challenge. Nevertheless, this could make for some interesting results. Biggest weight combined wins, biggest fish gets the respect, and if i don't catch any, (which could happen) then i'm sure a rematch could be planned out.
