  2. tossin a 3" senko into my money timber and free lining a live 2" worm next to a log.
  3. I think you summed it up
  4. thank you thank you
  5. Not only is he happy on one side, he's angry on the other. For fish who just want a hug, the smile and warmth will draw them in. For those fish that solely bite off of agitation and quick reaction strike, they have the angry side to entice and taunt them. Best of both worlds. Two face. This is just acrylic paint and brush. Nothing serious, just havin fun.
  6. should be charged with 1st degree murder. Completely premeditated...cannibal
  7. So, as i sit on the couch day in and out studying and no play, i was wondering if anyone from the NOVA gang has toppled quanjigs bass of 5.14 was it? It was 5 something, it's posted just haven't checked recently. Has anyone beat this early December bass? Hmm :-/
  8. me? Even if your not asking me i will reply! I have been so busy with school. I am trying to get a few weeks ahead in all of my work so come the end of the month, i'm hitting the water again. I am excited for the NOVA tourneys this spring. Once we start laying into them we should keep track of how many 6+ pound bass are caught. Should be interesting. And of course, pictures will be required to verify. I get a little tired of people throwing numbers out there without the proof. The NOVA gang will rise this spring i tell you
  9. how durable are those poison tailed jig heads. I always contemplate getting some, but just not quite sure about the hook. Does it bend back too much?
  10. someone who keeps numbers! that is just beautiful. What a day. Never forget those ones. Might almost be better than catching ones PB largemouth...
  11. hmm...Perhaps a picture would clear this up... There might be something fishy going on here...
  12. I only had 3 over 5 pounds of the 18. No 6's. They hang out in their own little world. Plus not one of the 5's were over 5.8.
  13. That is unbelievable. Experiencing that with smallmouth would just be unreal. Truly one of greatest smallmouth fishing days i have ever heard of.
  14. Hah, graduate school is killing me, i live through others stories these days. I'm gettin ahead so i can be ready to go at it towards the end of february early march. And thanks for noticing
  15. I am pretty curious as to how everyone here has done in a particular day. If you wouldn't mind, i would like to see how many 4 lb bass you have boated on one particular outing on a lake. Now, when i say 4 pounds, please don't round up the 3.12's or 3.14's to a four. I'm talking legitimate 4 pounders in the boat. (smallmouth are included) 1.What lake (or say county if the lake is too top secret) 2. How many 4 lbs (anything over 4 is included) 3. Lure of choice For me, just to start if off, the most i personally have landed over 4 in one outing is 18. It was an overcast day in June in Otter tail county Minnesota and my old man and I were hitting a reed line 100 yards off the shore. It usually is good for a few fish over 3 and maybe a 4 every other time. This particular day, i think every 4 pound fish in the lake was swimming in this reed line for who knows why and it was every cast for an hour and a half, my dad and i caught a 4+lb bass. Several were over 5 but in the lower end & none hit the 6 mark and we had our line snapped at least 5 times each by the fish pulling us through the weeds. So, we could have missed a few bigger ones but to be honest, every 4+ fought so hard we couldn't tell the difference till we saw them. My dad and i have always been competitive, so after every fish was caught, it was immediately weighed. The weeds came up from ten feet below so it was a nice hang out area. It was the biggest sense of whiplash i have ever had fishing. 1. otter tail county (public lake surprisingly) 2. 18 3. berkeley worm Closest i came to 18 was 11 but this took the whole day. These 18 came within an hour and a half. Never had another experience since like this.
  16. Location, location, location
  17. I have searched several sites for skirt colors and for the life of me i can not find a dark green color. Watermelon is everywhere but it is just not dark green. I have looked through ***, barlows, fishingskirts, and lurepartsonline, and can not find a dark green. The closest color i have found is a trout green. Green pumpkin and dark green pumpkin is still not a dark green to me. I am looking for skirts unlimited material, not premade skirt combinations. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
  18. Quick question for you guys, what finish do you put on your metal or lead lures? What preserves the paint the best and is abrasive resistant? I am currently using the multi-purpose heavy duty epoxy where you mix the resin and hardener on top of my paint. I am also just painting with acrylic paint for now, not a die hard, but doing it for fun. So, what would be best to coat this? I have had to coat it twice with the epoxy just to cover it all and i don't know how durable it will be once jolted
  19. Nice!!! Great to see that! I bet you timed that picture just right as the other boaters came around so you could give them a look of what they could of had. You know its true. Well done. Good fish. However, for he month of December Mr. Quan is the current leader of 5.14.
  20. wow, throwing out a 7 pounder like nothing! Post that puppy. Just google it and there are instructions on how to reduce picture size so you can get it below 100kb. It will tell you. You can't just throw out 7 pounder language and not give everything to post that thing. Shame on you. Bring it to the board. As for Quan, nice bass! Great to see that size at this time of year. This is what i am looking for. Very inspiring. I can probably guess the lure you used! It takes a good fisherman to pull big bass in the winter time. That was a fatty.
  21. Guys, i have been bombarded with finals and every night i get excited hoping someone in NOVA has ripped some big girls lips and posted a pic of the hog. However to my dismay, there has been no posts. When was the last time a NOVA gang member has caught a 5 plus?? If someone has been rippin lips, please post. Has winter got the best of the NOVA gang...
  22. I'm an avid fisherman and am blown away with yalls artistic ability and creativity. This is something i would love to get into once i have the time but this truly is an incredible art form. Everyone on this thread is amazing. My goodness, so much to learn. Well done fellas, truly inspiring
  23. Hey, i am trying to buy jig heads similar to the booyah boo jig. I love the position and the balance of the hook. However, i can only find the booyah baby boo jig which is a 3/0 hook. I want at least a 4/0 hook with the same balance and position as the booyah boo jig or even the buckeye mop jig. Not looking for a football jig head. Any advice would be great. I never lose fish on the booyah jig, the hook is phenomenal. However, i'd like to buy just a jig head and add my own custom skirts. Any suggestions on other jig heads that have proven effective would be great.
  24. it takes a real man to call himself a "leeching princess". And Thai is right Josh, bass love leeches. However, i have never seen a princess catch a largemouth bass. I have seen them swim with fish and kiss a frog but none were fishermen. I'm not trying to be mean, but maybe that's why you may be overlooked? Just an observation.
  25. Elephants eat peanuts, Snakes eat rabbits, ants eat grasshoppers, kids eat their vegetables, etc etc etc Bottom line is this, big bass love big bait. Always have, always will. And to reiterate, i'd rather fish all day long for a big bass and not catch any (which i hate to admit i did the other day) then to catch a bunch of dinkers. If i wanted those, i'd go to the local pet shop, grab the little green net, and scoop a dozen minnows. You talk about how you throw big baits so, I am curious, what are the big baits you use most often? I consider big baits as 7 inch+ senkos, 14 inch+ ribbontails. I would be interested in your definition of big bait. Yeh, i think your along the right lines heavy. I never go under 7 inches. Matter of fact the closest i came was a few weeks ago in our NOVA tournament and i went down to a 7 incher but in general, it's just not worth it to me. I must say, when you get a bite with a lure that is huge, your heart drops and just the sheer anticipation of it gives me the rush. Even when bass are finicky, i just can't put on a bait smaller than 7 inches. It might be a psychological disorder.
