  1. sometimes tyrius it is obvious. And i agree, some pictures are very difficult to tell the weight. Others are just ridiculous. Some people don't care about what the fish weighs while others do. That's what makes this site wonderful. This post is about Red, he is realizing he needs a new scale since he is consistently catching bigger fish now. Since he obviously cares about how much it weighs and weighs all of his bigger fish, just seems right to get a scale. Don't let this bother you more than it should.
  2. I think that the people who believe that they can tell the weight of a fish based upon a little picture posted on an internet forum don't really know what they're talking about. If you're not asking what the weight was (like in the first pic) then what's the point of acting all self righteous and basically calling the OP a liar? The "scale police" what a joke! The problem with digital scales is that as the batteries lose juice they change. If you still have the same batteries in it go get a 5 lb bag of sugar/flour and weigh that. If your scale says 5 lbs then it's pretty accurate at that weight. A digital scale may be accurate at 2 lbs and off at 5 lbs. Great fish Red! You are on fire regardless of the weight. This fish is much bigger than your first which weighed over 5 on your scale and this weighed 4 on your scale. Get a new scale. Somethin weird is happenin. And Tyrius buddy, sorry i hurt you feelings. But hate to remind you this is a fishing forum and people do weigh there fish on this site. So yes, i guess people do care about how big fish are. Check out any forum on the fishing trip and you'll see some one talking about the weight. Imagine that, a fishing site talking about the weight of fish. Red, whatever you are drinkin, keep doin it cause you are providing entertainment for the rest of us who can't make it out fishing. Great job
  3. did i see the number 7 in there? Great numbers for the lake. Anyone that fishes that place knows that is not the number to expect after the spring time. Great job and beautiful smallies.
  4. goodness man...yah know, there are a lot of people on this site who would have claimed the 7.5 as a ten pounder. That 7.5 is huge and the 8.25 is just ginormous. Congratulations on the domination. Man, what a day fellas
  5. If it bothers you that much, it almost is worth the mask and fins idea. Either way, great job on the fish, must have been a great feeling thinking that it could have been a PB. Made the battle great i am sure. Get in their scuba steve and take back what is rightfully yours.
  6. No doubt about it Red, there is an art in holding the fish out so Nine Miler is right. I understand how you are alone so it makes it tough! One thing that does help with telling the weight of a 5 pound bass in any deceptive picture, look at the hand and the size of the mouth of the bass. Around 5 pounds, almost looks like the hand can go in the fishes mouth. If the hand dwarfs the mouth, than most likely either the person is huge or the fish aint 5. And like i stated before Red, i would take your Avatar bass any day, that thing is huge even that far away.
  7. Im glad your still catching fish my friend, but your scale is off. I don't know what it is about interesting weights of fish on this site. If people are feeling the inclination to give it an extra few pounds and put it in the 5 pound class and above and it doesn't even look close, wouldn't it be wise to just withhold the weight and just post the fish? It would erase all criticism. I know it shouldn't bother me, but i think to save the insanity, the scale police should always be on guard. The bass in your avatar is a BEAUTY though red and she has some weight to her. Keep the fish coming
  8. Randall, that is such a classic picture i love it. What a bummer for Mike to be such an idiot about it. I do appreciate your comments and humility though Randall and think you have proven time and again to be a good fisherman. Oh Mike...what were you thinking
  9. He is trying to sell a product...he is trying to sell a product...but...i...can't help it...must buy...must give in...too big of bass to say no...must give in. Big-o, i don't think there is a man on here who can't give into your temptations, you are too good, i must buy. I will have you answer to my wife when she asks why i can't control my bait monkey
  10. what a solid day! Man that is great as always Paul. Way to tear em up
  11. Man, not sure what you're better at, posting beautiful in-fisherman pictures or catchin monster bass. Well done as always.
  12. Not trying to be a turd or anything but if i'm not mistaken was it not you that was very sercretive about where you caught some nice fish when another forum member asked? ;D Shoot a pm It was me! Yeh, i never take it personally if someone avoids sharing lakes and spots with me. It was funny reading the recent post on the general forum about talking about your "honeyhole". Come on, this is fishing, there is gonna be secrecy whether people agree with it or not. Great fish though man! Good to see some Virginians representin this time of the year. I have stuck a few nice ones recently but not that big. Well done
  13. beautiful bass!!! however, did not here the name of the lake...South i assume. Great fish, that is a loooong bass. Very nice, i'm jealous.
  14. great job though! Not bad for finding the bigger bass. This is a new beginning my friend, great job
  15. that is just flat out awesome. Who cares about the tournament, great bass
  16. goodness man, nice fish. Gets the vains pumpin
  17. i was thinking the same thing Tin. However, like i said earlier, Vinny constantly pulls good looking bass in MN and he is fishing from a pontoon boat! I agree with Tin that the scale is off but i have never seen any of your fish that looked under 4 and i think you do a great job. Keep rippin lips.
  18. Great fish! If people only knew how hard it is to catch a 7 out of MN. That is gorgeous and my hats off to you sir.
  19. beautiful fish! Just looks solid
  20. i did a lot of stream fishing for trout and i loved the stuff. I always applied it to my lures. The bigger brown trout would tail the lure for ten feet or so and still bite it. So, i wasn't just getting reaction bites and trout are really finicky with bad smells. So, i know it works for trout as well. Someone said the amino acids thing earlier also so that makes sense. Megastrike will not disappoint!
  21. When they get that big, you give them a hug before you release them.
  22. Hey!!! Atta boy! Look at that hog. Just a matter of time before you cashed that check. Nice fish
  23. Wayne as always is being modest. What he didn't tell you is that he caught a 9.3 pound bass the other day. The man knows this lake. Truly a machine
  24. nah, she's a 4, sweet catch man, love catchin em on crankbaits am i missing sarcasm here? When i look at this fish i think definitely around 6 pounds give or take a pound. Great fish -fish always look smaller on the horizontal pictures
  25. As i was contemplating a lake i fish every summer, i realized that the hot spots on this lake are nothing like logic would agree with. In addition, all of the incredible looking spots and dropoffs are terrible for catching bigger bass. This got me thinking, why are some good lookin spots terrible? I know water temperature, time of year, gravel for spawning, vegetation, depth, drop offs, and ledges play a role on spots that should be hot. But i wonder why some spots remain consistent producers of big bass while other spots that have all the right conditions for a big bass hideout have nothing. I have been fishing for many years and have my theories but it dawned on me, that i really don't know the answer to this. Any thoughts
