  1. go to the Local Fishing Forum (in Fishing Forum heading) and look in the Central Bass Fishing. Has great information for texas and hopefully you find what you are looking for. Or, just start a new topic there and try to generate a discussion about Lake Sam Rayburn. Good luck.
  2. Awesome man! As cold as it has been out there, i am surprised that the water temp is as high as 55. Don't compare to Dwight, i feel like that will always be a losing battle. Sir Dwight is just plain awesomeness.
  3. That is awesome man! Congrats.
  4. Think you're missing the point. This is for the higher gear ratio for lefty. They are not listed yet on ebay.
  5. :respect-040: Now you are talking! Great fish man.
  6. Hey guys, i know there were few of you who were looking for these to finally come in and the wait is over! I don't know if any other site is selling them but TW has them for order (could be preorder). Nevertheless, If you're going to get one, better now before TW is out of stock. I don't know how many they do stock up on but, i could foresee this one particular product empty out pretty quickly once word gets out. Got mine!!! Not sure if any of the sponsors for this site have them so hopefully i'm not stepping on anyone's toes. If so, just remove post.
  7. See all the chaos that comes from not having a scale?? Remember this and pass it on to everyone that you know or are even acquainted with, even if they don't fish. Save up from your weekly allowance, and buy a battery operated scale. You had a nice fish and then ruined it by slapping an 8 on it.
  8. It always jumps to the 8 pound mark. Why not 6? Shoot why not a beautiful 5 pounder? What is so wrong with calling a big bass a 5? Where is the respect? The Decency? Fish work a lifetime in many parts of the country to hit 6 and then are insulted because they are just not big enough to be the exaggerated weight. Those poor guys need a support group. They will never be good enough and you wonder why bigger bass don't move too much, only eat at night time away from people making fun of them, are most likely depressed, have a difficult time getting the energy to leave their bed and end up becoming bullies on smaller fish. Until we change as a society of fisherman, this problem of depression and bullying will not change with the 5-6 pound bass. Your fish is waaaaaaaay too skinny and you are waaaaaaay too small of person to even give it the big proportions. Nice catch, but don't insult someone when they give you an honest weight. Please never make the mistake again. Let's change one fisherman at a time, world peace will follow.
  9. Hey partner, yeh there are a lot that feel our pain. Especially those who do not fish the potomac or occoquan. Even then, the Occoquan can be nasty if you don't know what your doing from what i hear. Quanjig has put his time on it and i think he is a bundle of knowledge for anyone that wants to learn that place. As for Beaverdam, I have filmed many of my outings out there the past two years (even though this is my 4th year fishing it-finally got a kodak playsport 2 yrs ago). I have caught 50+ fish over 4 pounds (yes i weigh them-which will be on film as well) on the Bdam the last 2 years and am putting a collection of the best footage with all of the spots exposed, boat positioning, approaches, and the lures being used and will post online on the Tube for people who struggle out there. I am not saying that i am "the" expert out there but i have been fortunate enough to learn a lot out there and want to share with the good fellas like you how to catch the 4+ bass almost everytime out there. I have failed way too many times and lost a lot of self-esteem in the process but i believe after people watch the video, they will enjoy it and hopefully learn whatever they may not know. Caught several 23+ inches out there as well and have some good footage of some of them and the spots. Would probably be suicide to post the video now since i will still be here for another year given how small the reservoir is but my goal is to give other people the honey whole experience by watching the video. When i got here, i wanted so badly for someone to just take me out and share some hot spots or help me get onto some good fishing since i knew little about the lakes around me and did not have a boat at the time. Two years ago, i decided that i wanted someone in my shoes to have the opportunity to have a honey hole experience and my video will probably make a lot of people happy while ticking off the few who know the lake pretty well. Don't really care. Given the high amounts of 4 plus fish in this lake, i think the lake will be just fine. Another thing is for sure though, this lake can beat the crap out of you if you don't know where you are going, hence the little pressure it gets. Furthermore, every time i feel like i know the lake i learn another spot and feel like an idiot once again. Anywho, i'll post the video first on this section and throw out a bone to whoever is interested.
  10. you probably haven't had anyone pull up right next to you on your big fish spot before after you had traveled hundreds if not over a thousand miles to fish your favorite lake and spot. It will change a man.
  11. I think this little bit of information is perhaps more important than your whole write up (which was great by the way). Shoot, i only fish a 300ish acre lake (Beaverdam) when i have the time and have made serious new discoveries there a few months ago that i did not know in the four years i have bombarded this reservoir. Despite using my depth finder (crappy one), just experimenting with different areas and lures has made a bigger difference in my fishing than logically trying to understand the fish at times. These northern VA lakes are brutal and i have been eating humble pie for the past 4 years. Still tastes terrible. But back to your point, these fish are evolving and you have to do something different, and that "different" thing does not have to always make sense.
  12. Dwight, as always, you are the man.
  13. Man, been reeling them in left and right. Thought the whole 26 pound fish in VA was enough to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the claim was ridiculous. If we could only get this same skepticism with the fishing reports where people are constantly reporting 7 and 8 pounders left and right like it's nothing. Just proving my point. Road Warrior? Seriously, you were biting on this too? Come on man. Tried to make it as dumb as possible. It is funny though how people will give you measurements of the one that got away, forget the camera, or have it verified by "the friend" whatever that means. Until these ridiculous reports stop comin, my PB status remains!
  14. Had this one last month. I could have hit these morons with my paddle. They should be shot and put down. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  15. I fish at least once a month and when you start fishing this much, you start producing 8+ pound bass almost daily. It's no biggie, you should have seen the one that got away this spring. At least 5 pounds bigger than that PB. Had a friend verify it too, and had measurements.
  16. Look at my PB. I caught one that was, but let it go. World records are in every state of this country. And apparently 8 pounders are as common as one pounders in a lot of the fishing reports i read.
  17. What you are describing reminds me of the Dobyns 704 Savvy. Love the thing. The regular savvy has pretty small guides and struggle if the leader has to go inside the guides, but can still launch it with the right reel. This is a strong rod. Been using it for quarter ounce lures and it is a hair heavy for this but still can get them out there. The 704 is listed to handle 1/4 ounce but it enjoys more of the 3/8 ounce better. Great rod. I'm sure the other ones are great. What i like the most though is that the reel feels balanced on this rod, not as top heavy. Ten cents.
  18. awesome looking as always
  19. He's a shimano fan so his money is on the Chronarch which has proven the test of time, Lews TP, not quite, but haven't heard any problems since they have come out. So, who knows.
  20. interesting, thank you for the response.
  21. you have no idea! Whenever someone catches a 4+ they rotate to the back of the boat and move up accordingly to the front when others catch them as well. It is actually really fun. It's the brothers annual fishing trip that is just one big competition. There are ways to cast towards the front but you have to keep your rod tip low so others can fish and still set the hook. Plus the person in the front dictates where you the boat turns so you have to constantly search for new spots in the back that have not been cast to, hence, needing longer casts to go further back into the reeds or what not. Since it is with family, don't really feel like you are stepping on anyone's toes. It's a blast. Oh, for the crankbait, especially if you are not targeting shore but long flats off shore, regardless of depth, longer casts cover more ground of being in the strike zone which is the point. Regardless, thanks for the input, some reels cast slightly further than others despite the same line and rod, and was curious if there was a difference with these reels.
  22. Casting distance is of the utmost importance when you are in a boat with 4 people and trying to get into spots before someone else and are in the back of the boat. By myself, yeh, not that big of a deal since all reels can pretty much go a good ways. An extra 5-10 yards makes a big difference with the type of fishing i do. Plus crankbait fishing, i'd of guessed you'd advocate for maximum casting distance.
  23. Was curious if anyone had any personal experience with which reel made longer casts. Thanks, Shimmy
  24. Hmm, great question. Surprise= BBZ-1 8" swimbait Disappointment= too tough to recall but will go with go with manns jelly worm-chartreuse green.
  25. I'm sure Fish Chris could pipe in on this. He does a lot of night crawler and crawdad fishing and catches monsters in california. The guy is awesome. I'm sure he has a few additional techniques with a live worm but he hasn't shared...
