  1. I am trying to write insurance for a client, who doesn't know a lot about his own fishing boat. He owns a 2004 Legend Bass Boat, but the manufacturer I keep seeing is playcraft. Did playcraft manufacture legend boats in 04? Any idea what the current value on this boat would be? Thank you in advance for any help!
  2. Thanks for the suggestions. I could really use some new rods and reels, so in the meantime I'll take advantage of what I got.
  3. I am looking for some help with pairing my reels to the rods I have, as I get set up for the upcoming fishing season. I only fish in private ponds, and I want to know how to match gear ratio with line, lure (top water/jerk bait/jig, crankbait) and type of rod. Thanks for your help. Reels: 6.2.1, 5.8.1, 5.4.1 Rods: 6'6" Medium, Fast 6'0" Medium Xtra Fast 7'0" Medium Fast
  4. Went out to my local BPS and got some good help. I picked up a 7" M F BPS Crankin Stick and matched it with a BPS Extreme Bait Cast Reel (5.8.1). I'm going to put on a 15lb fluorocarbon line. I decided to take the Citica (4.1) and pair it with the 6", and throw jerkbaits, shallow crankin, and top waters. Other suggestions for applications to this set up? The ponds I fish do not have a lot of grassy covers, but mostly timber in the pond. Could I work a frog around stumpy areas and downed trees?
  5. My passion for fishing and learning is greater than my knowledge of gear as some of you are noticing. The 6" says it's best for lures 1/4 to 5/8oz. I like fishing with fluorocarbon line only, but do not know how to set rigs and fish them. I'm willing to spend $100 or less on a rod or a reel. I need help with what line and lures to rig with this set up. On my 7", I'd like to run square or round bill cranks. Depths in any of the ponds is no greater than 20ft. My inlaws pons is filled with submerged timber. In fact, I broke Shimano Rod Thursday on the pond when I got a jig hung. Speaking of jigs, what kind of rod and reel set up would I want for that kind of fishing.
  6. I'm looking for a casting rod to match a Shimano Cardiff 100A. My fishing spots are private ponds, and I want a reliable 7" crank bait rod. A rod for cranking somewhere from 1" to 10". I'm somewhat of a novice on gear, but not sure what kind of rigging I need. A 7" Medium with 20lb test line is what I'm considering rigging. I'm also looking for a bait caster to match a Shimano Clarus 6" Med rod. It's set up for light lures. I got the rod on sale at Cabela's for $39.99. How would I want to fish this rig? What kind of reel and line weight do I want?
  7. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing the links and info. I got my gear out yesterday and was able to work my baitcasters like never before. I've still some learning left to do, but I appreciate the help in getting on the right track. This forum rocks and it feels good to know that I'm not the only one hooked on bass fishing. There is a lot of good information on this site.
  8. I did find the links here with some great information. I guess I just need to study up some more and practice. I need to learn more about my reels settings and performance. Thanks for the links advice. David- I appreciate the invite. I don't fish those lakes, mostly just ponds around me and when I can get away. I'm forever trying to get down to my in-laws because I can take the family and get my fishing itch.
  9. I've got two bait casters, but I get frustrated by not being able to make long cast. I know my rods are 6.5ft tall and medium, so should I be using stronger than 15lb test line? Maybe an educational video of proper technique for crankbaits? jigs? I really love bass fishing, and I'm afraid I'm a bit of a noob. I'd love to expand my knowledge of the sport as I hope to have my own boat one day and I want to be ready when that day comes. I've been training on ponds with plastics, but I'm ready to take it all in. Thanks for any and all advice.
  10. My first DD bass. Looking forward to many more
