  1. Deep, in a rut like me for the big ones!! I got a five yesterday on the weedless hudd. Couldn't even get a follower on the eight inch.
  2. I think low water and heat is worse for big.fish opposed.to.smaller.fish that require less oxygen.
  3. Looking for a what?? glad to hear your getting them!
  4. Congratulations! As Scott Martin would say, that's a MEGABAG!!
  5. There can be some real jerks when it comes to fishing. The fact is most of them are NOT making millions of dollars from fishing alone although they act like they are. Don't let the egos get to you, I come across it alot and quite frankly I could care less what anyone thinks.
  6. Incredible looking boat Gartracker!!! I hope it serves you well for many years to come!
  7. I was out there today out of Moore Haven, the water was flat most of the day until early afternoon when the wind picked up slightly. The water was clear and the fish were hitting everything, execpt my bait!! I fished the grass in 3-5 fow and only caught small bass, 10-14 inches max! The gar were the most aggressive I have ever seen as I caught more of those than bass. Everytime I brought my bait back there were two or three gar chasing. I lost a biggun in the rim flipping and I caught a couple in the cattails flipping which was where the bigger bite seemed, but the grass was so thick in most of the areas I couldn't get through it.
  8. Good lord that shorter fish is a chunker!!!!!!
  9. X2 Great bass, some guys make better decisions than others about where to live!
  10. Incredible Big-O. I hope people realize how special it is to see these fish you post and especially so often!!
  11. NGaHillbilly and Vinny have it right imo. A 4 inch bbz 1 shad is a small swimbait and the right rod could handle both jigs and that swimbait pretty well. I believe imo you'll catch more fish on a jig than a swimbait, but something about bigger swimbaits has some serious drawing power on those bass. Get them both and fish them both and I know it's cliche, but let the fish tell you what they want! Active fish, maybe the swimbait will be better, if there inactive/active the jig may work better. Only one way to find out! Good luck! Sorry for the underline.
  12. Haha, you must be a true die hard fisherwoman! I love it, catching or not, I can't get enough of it. Oh and check the new thread I posted in the Southeast section, especially if your in a canoe or kayak!!!!!!!! It's labeled "Florida guys be careful!"
  13. Ok, you two can't give up so easy. It seems that you two picked up fishing not too long ago and I think I even remember a new personal best thread from you! Anyways, Summer is nearing very quickly and I have found that this can sometimes be the hardest time to catch Florida bass. I have spent DAYS on the water or on the banks and did HORRIBLE! Yes, some areas of water are dead water or empty but if you're covering alot of water you will come across fish. In summer I really look to flip cover, fish deeper by hitting the bottom of ledges and shelfs where the fish are looking to stay cooler. My most productive areas is where I can find current, which usually has more oxygenated water and those areas can harbour lots of bass sometimes. when it gets tough and I can't buy a bite on anything, I usually go to a plastic worm, now I use the 10 inch berkley power worm and even on the slowest of days I can get bit. I have not been on the water in a boat for over a month now but I would think surface temps are starting to get pretty high. \ Don't give up, you'll find em!!!
  14. Wow, If I knew that was the canal you were referring too I could have saved you the trip. It was like this last year when I was down in that area.
  15. I like these lures! sometimes....what I mean is that they're loud and that works some days and does it work good, but others I think it's way too much as they won't get bumped when another crankbait with similar running depth would. I have caught bass on it up to 8 pounds. I don't think it hunts quite as good as say a KVD squarebill in my opinion but it does have a decent little wobble to it. The ones I have all float/rise very slowly and I have noticed they get hung up quite a bit maybe because of this. I don't care for the hooks so I change them out as well. In all, I definitely like them as they have produced good results with me and I will keep using them.
  16. I've caught them too with one bad eye, this hook was right through the middle of the eye, even if it didn't come out of the socket like it did, the eye was a goner either way. I hope that little guy grows up and gets all the fat girls in the lake!
  17. I was also wondering, I will call to confirm. Hillcrest lodge appears to be an RV park. Will they rent me a spot just for my truck and boat so I can charge for the night? If not maybe I can find a local walmart in the area lol.
  18. Oh crap LOL! Probably the same guide site you're referring too!!! Oh well, it still sounds like a good place that should hold some giants. If not maybe Kissimmee is better to go to. FishinDaddy, Thanks for the IMPORTANT info, I had been reading about the stumps or stumpfields in this lake and it did have me concerned. I'll bring a copy of the lake map and mark the stump area. I'm wondering if any of you have seen any giant bass caught from this lake?
  19. I caught a bass hooked right through the eye. I knew this was bad news for him, when I unhooked the little guy his eye came out of the socket onto my hook. Yes, I did feel really bad for the little guy. I know there's a good chance he'll survive but that still sucks to me.
  20. Cmon NGaHB, how could I consider those after seeing your monsters on the huddy!!!! I have looked into those and still on the fence about them. I do like that they seem very durable. I'll work those ledges out there from deep to shallow and shallow to deep, hopefully I get my first teener man, it's killing me!
  21. I was thinking the same thing, Allison's were for the diesels that were capable of pulling the earth!
  22. I too thought private areas were off limits for being certified by the IGFA, but like you, I havn't seen anything in the IGFA rules that would disqualify it.
  23. Well, not really lol! The fact that there are GIANT bass is enough to keep it interesting for me. I'll only be throwing artificials. I'll fish deeper water with jigs and a few swimbaits along the bottom. I'll be there in mid may, I'll post a detailed report when I get back.
