  1. Which spiinnerbait on the market would take the abuse fish after fish, Terminator T2's??? I've been using revenge and so far so good but have not caught multiple fish on one single one yet.
  2. Too bad you missed this year Tom, wishing you a quick recovery. I for one, wish the BAT wasn't only in California. I'd love to attend one of these events one day!
  3. The possibility does exist but imo the odds are heavily against it. Even the deeper quarry/phosphate pits could harbor giant bass with a more conducive and stable environment, but the mere possibility of the right gene pool being in there is almost slim to none. I personally don't believe that every FLMB bass has the potential to be a world record. I do believe most (female) can grow to state record sizes, but I think less than one percent of FLMB have the genetics to reach those proportions.
  4. ABSOLUTELY there are world record largemouth out there! Just ask Butch Brown and Manabu Kurita who have both said that they have seen largemouth of 25+ and 30 pounds respectively in each of the areas they fish. I think the body of water's size is important but not #1. In my opinion there are NO World record bass in Florida south of Orlando. I believe Dixon Lake was small at 70 acres or so but produced the largest bass unofficially on record today. Lake Okeechobee is vast and has only produced a 15 pound bass. Obviously Lake O is missing a major key element to produce massive bass and it's not the forage base. Lake O seems to be the capital for 8-10 pounders! What do you consider a pond? An acre or two imo would not be adequate to support a World Record bass unless man were to provide unlimited forage base. Secondly it would have to be in a colder climate region.
  5. Haha, those curious little guys swam right up to the camera as soon as you put it in! What was there that was keeping this school in that particular area? Nice vid, really interesting to see bass in their natural environment!! Enough gar you think!
  6. Similar, mix it up like you would a football head. The arkie is just a little more versatile if your fishing different types of structure/cover and don't have the luxury of buying many different jig styles in my opinion. Some days I drag it, hop it, reel it a few cranks and kill it. Like any other bait, try different retrieves until you figure out what the fish are reacting to that day. I like the arkie jig because the arkie head will be a little more forgiving when I'm not fishing a more appropriate style jig for the area I'm in for whatever reason that may be.
  7. I'm not sure about a good all around jig that would work in all applications as each head design is for a purpose. However, I do try and get away with an arkie head for this use and although not the most practical at times, I am thinking the same as you when I do this. I really like jigs with a 30 degree line tie on the head in this style.
  8. Very nice. I've yet to catch a peacock down here, not even sure there in my area. I hear they do have some a little south in Naples. What part of Michigan were you from?
  9. Well they say theres no replacement for displacement but a turbo six is close enough. Sorry I ha have not driven one but it looks good on paper.
  10. Well lets see how he does at 145 pounds. I would like to see him ground and pound Aldo into submission!! Look for him sometime after the new year at this weight class.
  11. I met him today at the airport and I was stoked! Love watching that guy fight and he's is nothing short of an animal in the octagon. He was a super nice guy and I wish I had more time to shoot the bull with him but just as I saw him they were calling his name to get to the gate to leave. I'll bet he cuts upwards of 20 pounds to hit 155 and he looked in great shape when I saw him probably weighing at least 170. I hope he makes it back and knocks "smooth" out of the title!
  12. Oh man, those are perfect. I've had lots of 2 pounders eat the 68 special. The shads are fish catching machines too! Just keep in mind if the swimbait isn't getting bit switch it up. A lot of hardcore swimbait guys live and die by the swimbait bite. I'd prefer to go with what's working at the time.
  13. Edit, a 6 pound bag would've made me happy!!
  14. Nice!! You've been on em pretty good lately man. I also enjoy the write ups on the Hawgblog!! I'd been happy with a 10 pound bag on Friday haha! I flipped in the monkey box and nada!!! Thought for sure I'd get a couple in their flipping????
  15. Huddlestons work anywhere, which ones in particular are you referring to?
  16. Man, now I don't feel so bad! I got my Butt kicked out on O Friday too!! I worked hard for a few bites and small fish!!!
  17. Another site has the gen 3 Revo Winch on sale for the same price. I prefer the 3 for sure as it has the infini brakes so you don't have to take the sideplate off to adjust every time. I just ordered one myself. Pm if you want the site!
  18. I've owned many Gen two Revo STX and throw baits up to three ounces on them and they handles them great. Like you I have not tried the Gen 3 ones yet. Thanks for the input. I was fishing the 8 inch hudd the other day and noticed it had very little drag in the water compared to a deep diving crank I was throwing earlier that same day.
  19. Several times with several different types of baits. Whenever I'm trying to learn a new technique I do this to force myself to learn. You will be happy you did for sure! For example, when I started learning the jig, I bought around 40 of the basspatrol football jigs from *** to start. It seemed like forever before I could decipher the difference from a bite or just bumping into a rock. Feeling what a shell bed, hard sand, or muck, weeds whatever the bottom was like. I didn't do this for one day, I did this for weeks. Yes I saw fish feeding on top and yada yada yada, but I was not looking to catch a fish on top, it was on a jig that I was trying to learn.
  20. Capt. Shane, did you launch out of Moore Haven and run the 7 mile ditch or out of Harney pond? I ran the 7 mile ditch the other day and am wondering if that is safe to run when the water is down?
  21. Not to be confused with the Toro Winch either.... Other than line capacity does anyone think this reel (Abu Garcia Revo Winch) can not handle eight inch hudds?? I'm just not buying that these baits on this reel will damage the gears. As far as resistance goes a large crankbait pulls harder than a huddleston gliding though the water. Excluding nasty backlashes with a heavy hudd on, can anyone think of any other potential failures with this reel and bait?? Thanks
  22. Gar-tracker you were right....didn't get a nibble until daylight. The waves were getting big early that morning and starting crashing the back of the boat over the edge. I remembered your posts and hauled butt back to the rim and took the long drive out to the monkey box. I really like that place and looking to getting back there!!!
  23. Have any of you guys fished okeechobee at night? Really just wonderingbif it has been productive at night as it has been in the day and if its worth the time to go at night. If so what would be most productive....ie. grass or mainlake areas. Thanks!
  24. Lol! Can you say "Stoked!!" Mine can't get here fast enough!!! Thinking about getting more........not sure if I want a divorce yet!
  25. If the mgx has only 12 pounds of drag he should be okay. In the vid above I believe he's using a curado e7 which only has 10 pounds of drag and seems to be doing fine with that? I personally like the revo stx with 18-24 pounds of drag but I have pulled to hard before with that.
