  1. I like the sound of that! Same here with watching the vids, although alot of times youre just watching them winch in fish which is cool, but if more were explained on why they were fishing a certain spot, weather conditions, baits, etc....it would really help to get a better idea of what's going on. One excellent video is Mikeybalzzfishing called "Matted". Mike goes super in depth of the spots he is fishing on Kissimmee and what he's doing when picking apart matts, ie. spot within a spot, depth baits, technique. Most vids aren't even close to this informative but this one has it all. Another one where he talks about what he's doing but not nearly as in depth as the last one is called, "Punching Extravaganza", where he explains he believes fish in Okeechobee are moving up to spawning staging areas and he's looking for big mama. He also explains how's he working the bait, how the fish are biting it. There needs to be more vids like these.
  2. Lol gator, don't feel bad me too hahaha! I lost almost two weeks this month to work and sick!!! AK I think you're right!!! The next couple months is prime time for us S. Florida guys and it is just starting for us! Looking forward to the next few months competition as it should bring some serious fish!!!! STOKED!
  3. Yeah but he might have more fun with you Cap'n Shane!!
  4. Done, me too! Sieberts shakey head with a netbait t-mac 6.5 in sun perch. I saw this fish bust on the surface and cast to it. Before I could engage the reel I saw the line moving off and set the hook. Unofficially I had a couple 16 and 17's early in the month but did not document as I thought I'd get on em better with the weather cooling. Next month should get better for us in the deep south. This one was just a bit over 18.
  5. Lol, AK I didnt weigh her but she was o my about 21-22 inches long. I would guess only around six pounds. That fish is special to me because we rarely see them that fat this far south!
  6. I was on a spot on lake o back in June. I sat on this spot knowing the fish would move in for two hours. Finally when they did we whacked good with an eight pounder mixed in with dozens of two-4 pounders. The bite shut down after an hour. If I would've moved I may have missed that bit that day. I usually won't sit that long on a spot.
  7. Thanks Lou...tomorrows my last day. Its still slow here but next.month I'll be on the boat a bit more. Not that that will help me much haha!
  8. Thanks Lou...tomorrows my last day. Its still slow here but next.month I'll be on the boat a bit more. Not that that will help me much haha!
  9. This came off a ledge with a 1/4 ounce jig with a b-bug trailer. Wind started to pick up and was blowing good. Had to leave shortly after. 19.5 in.
  10. Ha, that makes two of us then!
  11. Good luck everyone, down the homestretch for the month! I have two days left to put something together and it's not looking good! I knew I took the summer off from fishing for a good reason!!
  12. Really the only place to boat in Ft. Myers is the Caloosahatchee. As FSTR stated, Cape Coral has some nice areas to put a boat in. To be honest, you should just go to Okeechobee, Istokpoga, Everglades or who knows, maybe Trafford is worth a visit by now. Most of those places are within 90 minutes of Ft. Myers. Good luck.
  13. As of yesterday same deal here on the west coast, it's still SLOOOOOWWWWW.
  14. It depends on what style your fishing. Def wouldn't horse a giant bass on a drop shot.
  15. Haha, I feel the same way, Friday should be a good day to go!
  16. Good point MCS, Last week I caught five that I forgot to bring my tape measure. All those fish were caught on the bottom with a Netbait B-bug in Toledo Special color. All these fish were caught working the bottom SLOW, and they were all located near chunk rock. This one was caught on a buzzbait, She was sitting next to a clump of grass that was growing out of the water on a shallow hump between two dropoffs. She hit it as soon as I popped it off the grass clump onto the other side. Later I caught a nice snook on the same buzzbait. Buzzbaits not the same now. This weekend hopefully its better for us deep south Florida guys as this cool front finally pushes south towards us!!!!
  17. Here's my first that I can post, 20". Hopefully next week I can finish out a limit at least!!
  18. I can't not watch this enough! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1k435NYaPU
  19. I agree with Jeff.....Imo, Falcon would be your best chance at a real fish of a lifetime, who knows, maybe multiple fish of a lifetime!!!
  20. Thanks, it was a grind......SLOW and low was the deal... Did you guys happen to notice the extended forecast for S. Florida....next week it looks like our first cool front will be upon us. High of mid 70's and lows of upper 50's at night. Generally this will trigger the fish into a good prespawn pattern and unofficially end the summer dog days!!!!! Next Friday whether on boat or bank I'll be out for sure. two weeks ago on lake O, water temps were still 80-82. Hopefully after the front the temps will drop to the low to mid seventies????
  21. Troll?? Maybe.....Funny.....definitely!!!!
  22. I was on the board today with 5 fish to add but realized I forgot my tape measure.........next time!
  23. I'm different from most...I prefer baits with subtle action. The more subtle the more I like it. Some days I do find baits with more action are better. The other day I started fishing a ten inch power worm and got blanked. I changed up to a subtle style beaver bait and caught four in the next 40 minutes. This was a new place so I did t k ow what to expect. To answer your question, there really is NO wrong way to fish beaver baits.
